Well first of all let's unpack what "normal" means. Normal is a measure of conformity, it has nothing to do with whether something is rational, natural, healthy or a good idea. It's normal to eat fast food and jack off to porn and play video games and incur thousands in student loans and credit card debt, because most people do all that; that says nothing about whether it's a good idea. In fact, it can be argued that since so many facets of modern society exist in an adversarial and predatory relationship to the average person, to the extent that falling prey to many of them is more likely than not, normalcy is inversely correlated against one's wellbeing. Acting in accordance with this view of course has its tradeoffs, as conformity caries social benefit, but in the words of Thoreau, you never gain something but that you lose something. Anyway this one's occupied, go find your own.
