I know that people look up to political figures enough to decorate their homes, car, livelihoods as devotion to their fellow elected officials. Is it a point to where such devotion can go far?

I'm not even talking about campaigning, donations, even tuning into their speeches with your party or officials. More like when you buy every piece of their merchandise, treat their every word as gospel or even sacrifice your time and energy for a person you likely don't know.

At that point it falls under simple idolisation, which I am personally against anyone doing as it is an injury to their own self-worth. It would be the same if they treated a celebrity, their spouse, etc. in the manner described

It's always best to see politicians for the human beings that they are. You can agree with what they say and maybe even like them (depending on whether you know them personally or not, as unlikely as that is). However, you shouldn't obsess over them or buy any merchandise associated with them, I think. An exception would perhaps be a book of speeches, but I don't believe we make much ado about speech-making and oration as we used to do. So, you're better-off supporting/liking them in a general way, rather than as an avid fan.

What happened? Did you find someone who idolizes Clinton more than you do?
I know one person that decorated their Christmas tree with Trump garb. I'm looking at it and thought, wow. Some people love the guy. Another time it was a Fauci candle by the family photos.

I wouldn't say it's unethical to like a politician but it's just really fucking stupid. They're never interested in helping people or bettering the lives of others. They want your vote and your money and they will say or do anything to fill their pockets with your hard earned doubloons no matter what political party they belong to.

Its not unethical but its fucking useless. Why would you have an emotional connection with somebody you most likely never meet in real life? If you got a pair of balls in your Walmart panties you will solve your personal problems yourself. Just waiting and sitting there and hoping some stranger will make your life better wont help.

Yes. That is unless their name begins with "Ron" and ends with "Paul." He is the singular exception.
