Is it worth being on Social Media anymore? - Was social media even worth it at all?

Ever since the start of the 2010s, social media dominated the internet which has in turn led to the disappearance of many forum sites and individually run websites. It was an easier way to create a profile and give people a voice. Eventually social media hubs like Twitter, Facebook, Reddit and Instagram became places where people could share their experiences with others such as their family or even the rest of the world.

People eventually became locked into the digital world especially when the algorithm began sending them news designed to frighten them. Although the term "Social Justice Warrior" was coined in the 1990s, the Cambrian Explosion of Social Justice Warriors on the internet only really began in the Early 2010s. And because each news story has many different narratives and terminally online people lack real world experience, this in turn creates a political workspace where people are often targeted for "wrong think" regardless of the political positions which in turn made these sites toxic environments.

As of recent years which AI eventually taking over the internet, the theory regarded as the Dead Internet Theory became reality, the internet user base became more synthetic and artifical meaning a lack of human connection becomes ever more widespread. Major corporations have opened that Pandora's Box for opportunities to earn revenue which in turn created a widespread bot problem on the internet. This has led many people to hide in Chat groups as these bots eventually steal whatever they post on the internet and get more recognition to artificially boost their ranks for more monetary gain.

Unfortunately the higher ups don't fully realize the danger of a fake artificial internet and use this to their advantage. As for Twitter which is now called X. I deactivated my 380 follower account that was there for 3 years due to porn bots constantly following and interacting with it as well as people blocking me out of nowhere. Now I only use a private account to follow artists I like but I don't post on there. As for Facebook, I only use it to connect with my friends and family like we intended to do 15 years ago and never intended to be public figures. As for Instagram, I only like posting my artwork there. As for Reddit, I rarely use it because of the toxic culture there, lack of free speech and is just lame.

Tl;dr - Social Media and the terminally online people eventually give up their real world experiences and eventually loses any feelings empathy and sensibilities creating a toxic world full of Junkies and is now as of recently being overrun by bots.

Tl,dr the Tl;dr part - Seek fucking help if your attention span is that horrendous.

Basically, the only good use is to sign up for a site like sweepstakes advantage and then treat social media as an MMO where you can RNG win real loot by spamming other players.
Facebook Marketplace is also a good place to find local deals on shit you may want or need. Otherwise, social media is a waste of time and mental effort to invest anything but racist/sexist/unironic homomisic and transmisic or otherwise discriminatory shitposts in.

i don't think it's worth it. i once saw someone say that it used to be a pastime but it is now a necessity. but it's different for everybody so some people may not agree with my reply.

i think short form content is taking over, and content creation is just getting lazier and lazier. a good amount of shorts are just ai generated slop and i'm sure you've heard about brainrot, skibidi toilet lankybox etcetera. that's bad, my little cousin watches it and he wouldn't shut the fuck up about digital circus for a couple days. but i cannot act like we didn't have our own form of brainrot. people my age anyways watched like mlg and uncle grandpa and shit growing up.

what drove me away from social media mainly just how people act now. the only socials i use now are discord (i know it's for faggots, it's just an easy way to talk to friends for me. don't be a dick.) and youtube. never been happier. instagram and snapchat are bullshit, never bothered with tiktok. sorry for aggressively autisticly infodumping, this topic just really intrigued me.

A necessary evil especially when trying to look for a job. But its best to treat it as a glorified phone book and that's it. Because the normie becomes absolutely retarded when dealing with the net... and that is not getting into the rampant censorship.

Short-form content ruined it for me. There are a few videos that are golden, but it's created a culture of faggots sucking the dick of an algorithm doing the dumbest regurgitated bullshit possible for likes and views, because everyone wants to be Internet famous. And when they are, they're required to act like the gayest attention whores possible, inflating the ego to unfathomable levels. Social media culture has changed so much that its entirely insufferable and I despise it to the fullest extent that I can. And if you even decide you want to make content, good luck. You have to jump through so many fucking hoops in order for it even be seen, and completely flood your page with as many videos as you possibly can. (Hence the dumb regurgitated bullshit)

Not only that, but posting in text has gotten horrendous because of the rampant censorship. You're only allowed to have opinions that retards, niggers and trannies allow you to have.

The KiwiFarms are more of a social media to me than Xitter and Instagram could ever possibly hope to be.

I have an account on facebook from like 2012, never been zucced before this year. I use it to share pics of the kids with family that doesn’t live near, follow parenting groups, recipe groups, and a couple of KF lite drama groups. I followed LoTT as couple months ago and have been zucced twice for “phishing” since then. The first one was an article I shared a year ago about a state government representative tranny using his girlfriend’s daycare job to solicit cp. This article had text message screenshots where this sick fuck asks the girlfriend if she thinks 3 year olds would like his pecker. a year later I get a notification that it was removed for soliciting personal information or data, ironic considering the subject of the article. The most recent violation that got my account limited was a video from a mom meme page, basically one of those silly “there are two types of parents” videos. The original video from the page is still up. Neither of my reviews had follow-ups, they just got lost in space I guess. That post was also removed for phishing so I unfollowed anything vaguely political and stopped using the share function from other pages so my account doesn’t get banned. I don’t use any other social media platforms because the hyper political shit is exhausting and inescapable.

I would say that it isn't, I have no social media accounts (othet than Youtube, if you could even call it social media) and never felt that I lacked knowledge or interaction or something like that, that I could get simply by making one

I only have a FB account to use messenger with the people I can't convince to use a better platform (i.e. Signal, Matrix, etc). But I haven't used the site proper in years. The lead-up to Trump's election showed a lot of bolshevik retards for who they really are, and I don't miss interacting with them at all. My sister's (then) BF tried to get her to "unfriend" me because he didn't like some of the takes I had (which were all backed by cold, hard, facts).

Besides KF I have a semi anonymous twitter I use to shit post and doom scroll, and a reddit account I basically only use to take screenshots to post on KF.

Cant say anything on social media anymore so theres no real point to posting.

Any question like that can be answered with "What do you gain from it?". How important are the memes to you?

Depends for what purpose.

You can use social media to talk to your friends (exclusively) which is what I would do, because talking to randos on Twitter/Reddit/YouTube is hardly ever desirable.

But then I sometimes enjoy posting on here, Kiwifarms, just because I like it more than any other platform so far.

But you could also be a content creator, make small videos for example, and get some following which would interact with you.

Those situations seem reasonable, having a Twitter/Reddit account where all you do is argue with retards you don't even respect in the slightest to begin with, is never worth it.
