Is Portland really that bad?

Even some online libshits seem to be starting to complain about it. I don't really pay attention to it but can't you ignore the politics and enjoy the place in its own right? It's really beautiful ngl.

You have to actually visit to understand it. It's like a bad acid trip in an Eastern European shithole city (Portland looks like one since it's overgrown with weeds and decaying buildings with broken windows, and communism everywhere). There's something uncanny about the people there, since it's almost all white people who look like they stumbled out of a trailer park.

The only black person I saw was a 60 year old toothless crackhead prostitute who asked if I wanted a good time. This was in a parking lot outside a convenience store where there were two passed out hobos surrounded by bottles of Thunderbird (me and a friend wanted to get more booze, long story). This was literally one block from a fairly nice set of apartments I was staying at. I realized at that moment I experienced a very typical Portland experience, in a way that only someone who lives there could and you can never get from Fox News or A&H.

I suggest you visit and get a new perspective on urban decay. Then go somewhere else in Oregon and get a deep, long breath of fresh air and buy some gold and silver (no sales tax there and plenty of good stores) because Portland is coming to your city soon (if it hasn't already).

It seems like it's worse then New Orleans(homeless everywhere, no public bathrooms) but with more camps and also more drugs then weed/crack. I don't plan on going.

I go to Portland often for work and make a habit of staying downtown (I have a hotel I really like)

And I see more human shit on a day in Portland then I do yearly in my travels.

One odd thing about Portland is when the sun goes down people just start screaming like wild animals all through the night. Get a high up hotel room.

As for nightlife, I'm from Philly so nothing scares me but I wouldn't let me family out after dark.

Crackheads will make that noise at any time of day. Heard it myself when hiking about 2 hours south of Portland. Decided to go no further on that trail, and fortunately I didn't since it led to a huge hobo camp that my friend later said was full of fentanyl, needles, and literal shit.

But it's probably louder in Portland because there's more of them.

Yeah, it's pretty bad. Which is sad, because it used to be a pretty decent city like 10-15 years ago.

It's ironic that Phil ("ADF") chose to settle down there, presumably looking for a safe place to live.

Transplant leeches like ADF are exactly why Portland has turned into such a shit hole.

Also Voodoo Donuts fucking suck.
They're so overrated. Their popularity is mostly from marketing and image, and recent "locals" thinking they're being loyally Portlandese by gassing them up so much. I like the little voodoo doll donuts because they're cute and raspberry-filled, but their dough is way too sweet.

Portlandia made it look like it was irl Oz. *sigh*

I think most major cities are going to have bad elements. But that doesn't mean they are Robocop level Detroit 24/7. Learn to watch your back while acting casual and you should be fine in most cities as long as you don't go out too late and you stay away from certain streets.
