When everything they do is secretly part of some plan or just increasing their optics level, it completely absolves them from all responsibilities for their base. This gives them the freedom to completely subjugate themselves to something they can lose. Their donors. Focusing on anything other than the end product is called getting scammed.

They only need to give enough rope to rope enough dopes along.

All politicians are "cucks" or they wouldn't be politicians. The only thing that's kept them in check was the fear that the general population would riot at best or lynch the government officials at worst. The current world governments, no matter where they're located, have almost no fear of the average citizen. The closest thing I can think of in the Western world that really terrified politicians was the January 6th Capitol Riot, and that was a dry fart of an "uprising". And it's why you keep putting pressure on your local government in any way you can and confront them on whatever lies they spew.

voting in general is meaningless and pointless as an individual. nobody cares about your single vote. what people do care about is the collective vote of major voting blocks and population segments, which you as an individual have no impact on.

here's the quick rundown: democracy means public opinion decides who gets into power, and public opinion is controlled by the press/media. the press/media are also super tightly linked with the political class, which means the combined class of politicians and journalists have control over state power, and over public opinion. their position is entrenched to the point that it's basically impossible to remove them without demolishing the entire power structure in the process.
