James O'Keefe III, doing journalism as Project Veritas, has drawn a lot of ire from a lot of people, sometimes being called fake in their journalism. He was recently banned from Twitter on April 15th, for busting wide open the motivation of CNN actually confronting a random stranger, and accusing them of spreading Russian Misinformation (the story that the New York Times is currently being sued over), and accusing O'Keefe of using fake accounts. O'Keefe filed this lawsuit to attempt to get them to stop spreading lies.
The Parties:
Plaintiff: James O'Keefe III (A.K.A.) Project Veritas
James O'Keefe III is doing business as Project Veritas and Project Veritas Action. A Reported Journalist, he has busted open a number of news stories, including, but not limited to, baby part harvesting from aborted babies. He reportedly resides in New York.
Defendant: Twitter Inc.
Yes, that same Twitter that Jack Dorsey runs.
The Attorneys:
Plaintiff: James O'Keefe is being represented by Justin T. Kelton of Abrams, Fensterman, Fensterman, Eisman, Ferrara, Wolf and Carone LLP, and Ronald D. Coleman of the Dhillon Law Group.
Defendant: Hasn't entered council. (but will update when they do).
The Venue:
The Venue is the Supreme Court of the State of New York, County of Westchester. They also serve as the venue for the New York Times case, where the complaint survived a MTD. Figured that O'Keefe would like to press his luck with Twitter. Records of this court case can be had here: https://iapps.courts.state.ny.us/ny...PLUS_WFDh0hMLXMB6ryd6CI6_PLUS_w==&display=all
The Complaint:
The complaint only has one count, Defamation. As O'Keefe is a public figure, he has to prove actual malice on the part of Twitter. The Complaint is down below.
Case Updates:
This will log every case update in one centralized (hopefully) easy-to-read guide. Major updates to the case are in bold.
