James O'Keefe III, doing journalism as Project Veritas, has drawn a lot of ire from a lot of people, sometimes being called fake in their journalism. He was recently banned from Twitter on April 15th, for busting wide open the motivation of CNN actually confronting a random stranger, and accusing them of spreading Russian Misinformation (the story that the New York Times is currently being sued over), and accusing O'Keefe of using fake accounts. O'Keefe filed this lawsuit to attempt to get them to stop spreading lies.

The Parties:

Plaintiff: James O'Keefe III (A.K.A.) Project Veritas

James O'Keefe III is doing business as Project Veritas and Project Veritas Action. A Reported Journalist, he has busted open a number of news stories, including, but not limited to, baby part harvesting from aborted babies. He reportedly resides in New York.

Defendant: Twitter Inc.

Yes, that same Twitter that Jack Dorsey runs.

The Attorneys:

Plaintiff: James O'Keefe is being represented by Justin T. Kelton of Abrams, Fensterman, Fensterman, Eisman, Ferrara, Wolf and Carone LLP, and Ronald D. Coleman of the Dhillon Law Group.

Defendant: Hasn't entered council. (but will update when they do).

The Venue:

The Venue is the Supreme Court of the State of New York, County of Westchester. They also serve as the venue for the New York Times case, where the complaint survived a MTD. Figured that O'Keefe would like to press his luck with Twitter. Records of this court case can be had here: https://iapps.courts.state.ny.us/ny...PLUS_WFDh0hMLXMB6ryd6CI6_PLUS_w==&display=all

The Complaint:

The complaint only has one count, Defamation. As O'Keefe is a public figure, he has to prove actual malice on the part of Twitter. The Complaint is down below.

Case Updates:
This will log every case update in one centralized (hopefully) easy-to-read guide. Major updates to the case are in bold.

Defamation will be more interesting, better than the usual "reee I got banned so I am gonna sue you for errrrr?"

I mean, I think at the end of the day that's basically going to be how the court reads this complaint. I hate Twitter but even I can hardly find "He does not own, control, use, or operate fake Twitter accounts" a compelling statement that created damage to his reputation.

I wonder if that is just one policy that is being quoted there? I really wouldn't be surprised if O'Keefe is running fake accounts, or artificially boosting engagement with said accounts, considering his dodgy behaviour on the past.

Fuck em both, I hope this case drags on for years.

If you guys have any thoughts, complaints about the OP in general, feel free to bring them up. I do want to improve the quality of the post, but I think I have nothing
Then this should be killed as it’s not a good thread at all. This isn’t even good drama, it’s a known grifter and convicted fraudster being mad Twitter decided to ban him.

The thing about being a lolcow is that the person needs to not only be interesting in some way, but also express that. While media figures can be lolcows, same with politicians, political drama is 99% of the time not funny or worth giving a shit about. Twitter isn’t a lolcow company. Twitter hosts a lot of lolcows sure, but the company as a whole is not a lolcow. You could argue O’Keefe is a lolcow, but he’s honestly not funny or interesting enough to be one. Is he a scumbag? Yes in my opinion he is, but being a scumbag isn’t automatically a factor in being a lolcow. Some of the best lolcows we’ve had here aren’t scumbags, like that one crazy guy who thinks he’s a prophet and happily interacts with us in his thread spouting numerology.

Is this guy like Jacob Wohl?
Wohl but he actually has pull in right wing media circles, despite lying like a rug and releasing deliberately misleading videos. There’s a reason he was convicted. The thing is retards like him have a bunch of defenders here since newfags think about politics first. He might be worthy of a thread but honestly it’d be swamped with his stans trying to claim his stuff is totally the truth and the evil liberal media is covering it up and smearing him. So hard pass.

Edit: this isn’t to say that grifters don’t deserve threads, but they have to be interesting outside of just being grifters, or have a crazy fucking story to go along with the grifting. People like Corey Goode or the Tenacious Unicorns both fall into this category.

No it's perfectly fine, dude.

This is clearly supposed to be an L&L LLC thread for following a lolsuit, not a Lolcow thread on O'Keefe. It's perfectly fine.

Fair enough. I don’t hang out there enough. Anyone do ones on Devin Nunes trying to sue both Twitter and a man who made a Twitter account named Devin Nunes Cow? That’s some lolsuit material.

O'Keefe is a smug asshole and sensationalist (and most videos are edited in a manner to be sensationalist) but he is one of a handful of muckraking journalists in the United States. O'Keefe has been smeared by mainstream news outlets for things that never happened.

Wohl is a failure in all aspects, and is currently under investigation for faking an FBI raid on his mentors house, Jack Burkman, IIRC.
Wohl meets criteria for knowingly publishing fake news, and nothing Wohl says should be trusted.
