Aaaand I totally missed this thread. I'm the worst janitor ever. I'm Greer-level.

I'm just going to put this here in case anyone wants to access links to the meeting details, minutes, etc.

- Yaniv wants traffic lights and an LGBT advisory committee

- Yaniv wants to talk more about his LGBTQ2SIA advisory committee AND discriminatory businesses

- Yaniv wants TransLink to be free for youth and offer price reductions for low-income people

- Yaniv doesn't like the way Langley defines "family" (specifically the upper limit of 5 people)

- Yaniv thinks school should stop sex segregation in sports and PE classes

- Yaniv wants Langley to give him 1,000 loonies for his beauty kween campaign

- Yaniv wants free menstrual supplies in school bathrooms, as well as in civic and recreational facilities

- Yaniv calls for the abolishment of gender-based pricing structures in businesses such as salons

- Yaniv wants to start a SAFE+ program at schools to teach trans students how to transition

- Yaniv wants all LGBTQ2S+ businesses that engage in conversion therapy or interventions banned; also wants programs that identify, report, and eliminate bullying, including cyberbullying

- Yaniv hops on the plastic straw ban-wagon, targets styrofoam ⏰, and he hates balloons

- Yaniv's Pedo Pool Party!
(minutes not finalized yet, but Yaniv's delegation request is here)

To be specific, this is a request for menstrual products to be provided in all boys' and men's restrooms, in schools throughout the province and by all businesses within the Township of Langley. I guess he figures that, if you're going to be a tampon-obsessed creep, you might as well lean into it.

Why the fuck does JY give a shit about gender segregation in school sports? Do the council not think it very weird that they have such an interest in teenagers?

I bet they roll their eyes every time they see Jessica Yaniv written on the schedule.

Any sufficiently sized town will have several Yanivs of all political stripes clogging up their public access segment every week. I wouldn't even be surprised if Yaniv manages to blur together with the other dozen and a half lunatics to them.

The "We'll discuss and vote on this untill it's either no longer relevant or you get distracted and bitch about something else we can ignore" trick is used constantly with these kind of people.

As I might have posted somewhere in the original megathread, attending council meetings can be quite the experience. For anyone that's attended two or more of them, it's probably easy to identify the people that appear eager to speak at each meeting. Some may have sincere interest in their locality's well being. Others just like the idea of speaking in front of someone that has to listen to whatever is said. Still others are the activist types that demand action now now now even if said action is already under way or can't be acted on because it's redundant, unnecessary, or illegal/conflicts with existing laws.

I'm pretty sure most councils know which speakers fall into that last group and may even discuss the bunch with newly-elected council members so they know whose speeches deserve nothing more than silent acknowledgement, a polite thank you, and nothing further.

I'd be willing to bet that Jessica's presentations fell under the "silently ignore" category until they learned that Jessica wanted them to officially and openly support the 12+/no guardians/unsupervised alphabet soup swim event. Possibly aware of Jessica's litigious nature, deferring action until after the TOL pools close for the end of the Summer season was their best bet to deny Jessica's request without coming out and saying "LOL no" and risking a BCHRT complaint.
