So she got raped, escaped naked with only her phone in hand but then took the time to take a clear picture of the guys plates? - Yeah right.

She probably took a picture of some poor guys car, then had one of her shizo attacks and ran around crying rape/calling everyone rapists. (Probably resulting in her falling down/getting knocked down and landing in the ER)

If you read the caption, you'll see she said that she took the photo of his plates first, and then he attacked her.

Taking a photo of the plates of any strange car you step into and sending to someone, is from what I know a SOP by hitchhikers and hookers.

Jenna ain't all there so there might be more to this story, but given how she makes her living this isn't that far fetched at all.

Jenna is a drug addicted prostitute. She lives in a broken van she found outside a paint store. She runs with drug dealers, pimps, and gangbangers. She's been arrested multiple times.

How did you guys think this story would end?

What I was thinking/hoping was that the DoC could get her diagnosed and put on whatever medication she needs. That is what they do here where I'm from, and I know that the US is clearly different but I was hoping that there might just be something/someone that could step in.
People die in prison all the time from not even getting their normal literally life-saving meds like blood pressure pills. If they gave you meds it wouldn't be for your own good either but just to keep you too stupid to do anything violent. Institutions vary but as a general rule are pretty barbaric.

Maybe someone more or less together could get a wake-up call from a jail sentence and decide they don't ever want to do that again, but someone crazy is just going to go even crazier if they don't do something crazy enough to get them beaten or killed.

Pretty much how it's shaping up.

I can only speak for myself. But because her story is wrapped up in the vortex it clearly put the whole seriousness in the background.

You are 100% correct this should not really be any sort of surprise.
Again I tend to forget how little help there is for people like Jenna in the US while they have a rough time no matter where they live, I am privileged enough to live in a place where we have a whole lot more options available for people like Jenna.

So I rather naively probably thought that there was still a chance that someone would step in at some point, before this tragicomedy ended up at it logical endpoint.

I agree with @Pandalee’s Tits this has gone from amusement to just fucking sad, and I should probably have come to this point a long time ago.

There are definitely resources even if they're not perfect. Jenna would probably qualify if she sought out such help. The problem is if you're nuts, that keeps you from doing sane things like seeking help. What's not available is resources to make you seek help, even if temporarily impairing your liberty would permanently improve your safety and happiness.

She should really be on disability and then she'd qualify at least for Medicaid, which would at least stabilize her mentally somewhat.

She really shouldn't be out there doing this. She's going to get killed.

Also on a somewhat vaguely related note, fuck Phil, that fat tub of gacha gouging gambooling shit.

I thought Jenna would start charging for her services in used car parts and rebuild the van back into working condition, then use a length of tubing to suck mightily at the gas tanks of other cars and extract enough fuel for the drive up to Renton. Once there, she'd abandon the vehicle and lie in wait until Phil's weekly trip to Total Wine, then use the gate code provided by a sympathetic realtor to infiltrate the compound. From there it would be a simple matter to enter Phil's office by way of the window, carefully moving aside the A/C unit struggling its hardest against the blazing March weather. Once inside she could securely ensconce herself in one of the abandoned areas of the condo and live secretly there, only venturing out when Kat is at work and Phil is streaming, drunk, or asleep.

She could get help and turn her life around. She could get a job at the grocery store and make $200 a week. Or she could steal, sell drugs, and prostitute herself for ten times as much.

The saddest part of this story is that her sister knows about it. There are so many Jane Does that are found dead. Their family never knows what happened to them. Kat knows where her sister is, what she is doing, and that she needs help.

Kat is kind of the shitty person in this situation in my opinion.

This is what brought on my jail question in my first post.

About a decade ago I was living in a homeless shelter. Just to clarify the ones we have are nothing like what you guys in the states have.

And there were several cases of people with massive mental health issues that could not be forced to seek treatment until they got in the hands of our version of DoC that have that power and by doing that if not outright saved their lives, at least gave them a more dignified life.

I was rather naively hoping that the US DoC could do something like that.

If homeless in USA could get stuff like that, they wouldn't be living in a van.

From the moment you enter the clock starts ticking. You will not be thrown out but a bunch of social workers will be starting to get you situated in a home of your own, start job training if needed.

The average stay period when I was there was 3 months to 6 months and from what I remember around 10-15% of the people living there was repeat "costumers".

If you have other social/abuse problems the stay can and will be longer.
There is a reason we pay something like 45-50% income tax.

As you can see this shit ain't cheap. The bill is send to your home county and they can't refuse to pay. Again going by memory the monthly bill was $3,800 a month and $5,300 if you were from another county/region.

To give the clearest picture of the American justice system to foreigners, I think it's simplest to point out the fact that we have private, for-profit prisons. There are companies that exist just to make money from jailing people. Unsurprisingly, it resulted/s in shit like this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kids_for_cash_scandal

Glad someone had their decoder ring because those posts gave me a headache just reading them.
This has gone way past the point of amusement. This is just sad content now.
Agreed. dsp can save her though if he is a mature adult. :story:
