3 years on and Phil who makes his own schedule cant even find the time to take her to the zoo, something according to him they've been wanting to do since she moved there. I'm starting to think this trip to Japan might not ever happen...

Kat says she wants to go to Japan because it's a safe dream vacation choice for a shut in boring girl that seems interesting but has no chance of actually happening.

She's not even weeb enough to mean it when she says she wants to see Japan.

If you asked her what she wanted to see in Japan I assume she'd stare off blankly and eventually mumble something about Tokyo.

You exactly nailed Kat. She's just wants to drift through life and make it to her deathbed without having to work for a living.

Given how little Kat has to do to keep Phil happy, I wonder how Leanna feels about her decision to leave. Browsing her LinkedIn, she's been in a series of dead end retail jobs since leaving him. And her Etsy store has only made 254 sales since 2020.

I wonder if part of the reason why she doesn't want to talk about Phil is because she doesn't want to be reminded of the lifestyle she lost.

Calling it a lifestyle is a bit of a stretch. I think a large part of why she left is she realized that lifestyle consisted of living with a paranoid hermit who had to have his arm twisted to go out and do anything. And even when he did, it was typically something he wanted, like a trip to the zoo or waddling around the mall.

I can only speak for myself and not Leanna, but I think working a bunch of dead end retail jobs is preferable to being a prisoner in the gout fortress. I think the reason she doesn't want to talk about her Phil days is because it's so embarrassing to admit to living like that. That's a big difference between Leanna and Khet, Leanna wants to actually do stuff with her life, while Khet is content with a roof over her head and a console to play Skyrim on.

Reminder, Phil isn't great for a traditional "gold digger" style relationship. I don't doubt he covers all of Khet's expenses, but a lot of that is mutual stuff that benefits him, like the condo and doordash and everything. But even if you wanted to go out and do things on your own, Phil wouldn't be able to afford it because all his money is funneled right into Champions.

Optimistic of you to assume that Phil would go outside during his vacation and not just stay in his hotel room all day, ordering DoorDash, playing WWE Champions and bitching about how him and Khet can't watch stuff on the TV because it doesn't have English subtitles.

I think he slightly exaggerates what he pays for, because it would explain why Kat bothers having a job. Even if she needs to get out of the condo every so often, why take on a responsibility when you can just walk out the door? Unless you need a reason to leave, that also puts money in your pocket, that you need for things not already covered. Things that are obviously also not expensive, given what she supposedly does for a living, but still beyond the scope of what Mr. Potatohead will foot the bill for.

Assuming he even knows these personal expenses of hers, that is.

I don't think she needs the job at all, but it's part of her adult LARP. It's possible she has some secret hobby of her own that she pays for, but it sounds like all she does is sit around the house and play games. And Phil has slipped up several times and revealed Khet plays the same games he does. I guess there's a world where she buys duplicate copies with her own money, and maybe she's playing games Phil also hasn't played. The former could be true because she's seemingly that stupid/they don't communicate at all, but the latter seems unlikely because Phil occasionally mentions what she's playing/tends to overhype games Khet likes. I'd think if she had other gaming hobbies, Phil would latch onto those.

There's a possibility she has her own gacha addiction she spends her paycheck on. Or some secret hobby we won't know about, but I think Phil would have let that slip by now. He can't help but overshare, and he wasn't exactly shy about mentioning if Leanna was out of the house. I guess there's a possibility Phil cares so little for Khet he doesn't notice, but everything seems to indicate Khet is just as much of a hermit as he is, if not more.

I think Leanna's basis for QOL is 'leaves the house for things other than work more than once a week' and 'has a partner who cares about her and shows interest in her life'.


Literally any lifestyle that ISN'T living with Phil satisfies both these requirements infinitely better than living with Phil.

My only surprise is that she hasn't moved back to the east coast with her parents. I makes me think she's living a good enough life in Seattle to stay or that she burned her bridges with her parents (this seems unlikely).

That's another difference between Leanna and Kat, Leanna had an emergency eject button where if she called her family sobbing about Phil they'd fly her back and let her live at home until she got herself back on her feet.

Kat ain't got anyplace to go or any support system at all. She's totally stuck with Phil, though she seems content to do that.

Was Phil addicted to WWE Champions or an indebted slave to the IRS by the time Pandalee left? If not, and if she stayed, I wonder with her somewhat assertive personality if she could have discovered him at the start of his addiction wasting money on gacha and other shit and got him to budget better and quit gacha altogether, as opposed to Kat being aloof to the whole thing. Maybe Phil, being scared of losing Pandalee, would kick his gacha addiction and today be debt free, married to Pandalee and happy. Then again he could have been in the throes of debt and gacha by the time she left.

Phil's always been reckless with his spending, but I don't think it's a coincidence that Leanna started straying around the time Machinima dropped Phil.

it's interesting that Leanna left high school to go and live with the gunt, but as dumb as she was, she knew phil was a sinking ship and left when it became obvious. Kat on the other hand, a girl with a community college education thought it might have been a good idea to jump onto a sinking ship headfirst and did it.

That isn't true. She didn't get her GED until recently.
Her resume states that she stopped going to high school in mid 2011. She didn't officially get with Phil until December of 2011.
