Does HRT use raise women's cataract risk?​

Estrogen receptors have been detected in the eye's lens, the area that becomes cloudy and inflexible when a cataract develops. Naturally occurring (endogenous) estrogen appears to protect the eye from cataract, along with guarding cardiovascular and other body systems before menopause. Exogenous estrogens like those used in HRT do not function the same way. For example, HRT increases C-reactive protein levels, associated with cataract development in other studies. Dr. Lindblad's study also describes how alcohol and HRT may interact to raise estradiol levels, which appears to affect cataract risk.

It's not a huge increase—18% for women currently on HRT—but it does increase with the duration of HRT. Most postmenopausal women only use HRT for a few years; Kevin is going to be on it for life. Also, the study only looks at actual women, so the effect may be even more pronounced in men.

An analogy from the FtM side of fence: men are more prone to heart attacks than women, and testosterone plays a role in this disparity, as we can see from the fact that heart attack risk increases even further for men using exogenous testosterone. tl;dr: It's almost like (a) our bodies are highly complex systems and not customizable avatars; (b) sex is real and highly medically relevant; and (c) fucking with your endocrine system just to grow bewbies is a shit idea.

But I'm more worried about the health of the alpacas. Any word on them lately? Other people will see his tweets mixed in with all the others on their timeline, probably only the ones The Blessed Algorithm deems worthy to show, and not realise how often he has been grifting or how much crap he buys.

Edit: Plus if you spend a lot of time on Twitter, you start to think about things in terms of "a hundred tweets ago" not "four days ago". Time ceases to have prominence in the same way. It might be one week ago that he begged last, but that's an eternity in Twitter time if you post as frequently as Kevvy.

He mentions he has Uveitis, a chronic inflammation which is treated with prednisonole, a steroid. Prednison can indeed cause elevated eye pressure resulting in cataract, but one would have hoped that his ophthalmologist had noticed this before surgery became necessary.

I loathe this dolt but I don't think this is his fault and don't wish him eye trouble of any kind. It's bad enough as it is.

Of course. Anything involving the eyes is scary, and while Kevin is stupid, I wouldn't wish physical harm on him. It's just absurd how many things he has wrong with him.

Losing sight is a horrible situation for most people since it's the thing that feeds us information visually. If he loses his eyesight, would his troonism stop or move to something like being a disabled trans for those extra woke pity points?

I'd be lying if I said, I'd feel for him losing his eyesight. If it's something he brought upon himself because of his overall lack of self health care, I'm gonna be laughing for a good while because if anything it's just another example of what happens when you neglect yourself and your body.

I'm aware that some people have default health issues, but even then you'd still do what you can to take care of your health for best quality of life.
