Technical aspects:
  • IP and general anonymity
  • Zombie population
  • Time before power outage
  • Infection on or off
  • Infection chance (vanilla or homebrew)
  • Which country or region should the server be hosted in (picking server host)
  • How do we communicate?
  • Server wipe when?
  • How to keep a server up and how frequently?
Mods
  • If you vote the anthro mod I will fucking kill you with a rock
  • Picking which quality of life mods to use without causing server instability
  • Infection cure mod, on or off
  • Which gun mods and associated gun parts mod to use
  • Scrap armor/weapons/guns/ammo mod on or off
  • Silencer mods, yes or no (and should they be limited)
  • Food scarcity mod (simulates dwindling supplies as time goes) on or off?
  • NPCs on or off?
  • Bike mod, on or off? (It gives major stamina XP, I think it's a bit broken)
  • Your own mod suggestions
Rules discussion:
  • Is PVP enabled?

Wait isn’t a huge update coming out that will bork a lot of mods?

-infection should be saliva only. This 8% or 25% from scratch or laceration is dumb.
-recommend turning off zombies forming groups. That way you’re always fighting them individually if you aren’t in enclosed spaces
-One thing about mods that add “tiles” or new textures, sometimes the game doesn’t recognize the tile as flat ground, and so if you drop something it simply disappears. Absolutely maddening if you drop a backpack for example. However, the hats and glasses on zombies don’t disappear if they get knocked off for some reason.
-mod suggestion: “They knew” gives a ‘cure’ but the zombies carrying it are rare. You can adjust scarcity as you want.
-“zambies” allows you to modify the percentage of slow, fast, sprinters or crawlers. It also gives a very rare special zombie….
-some common sense mods allow crowbars to be used to pry open locks, which is great for storage places. Or interior and exterior locks can be found on zombies in that particular cell to open really stubborn doors if you don’t have a sledge or crowbar.
-expanded vanilla mods in general especially firearms. The gunrunners and brita weapons packs are ridiculously huge. You might find a magazine to a gun you’ll never find, and vice versa, because there are just too many random guns that “roll” when you open loot. Not to mention specific ammunition.
-expanded helicopter events can increase the chance of helicopter events to hilarious extents. And jets, fema care packages, even military dropping leaflets saying “Hey stay inside we’re gonna shoot anything that moves tomorrow”
-modified backpack mods. Inventory and sorting is the biggest headache.
-rewarding night combat gives you bonus EXP earned at night, and is highly customizable for how much and when night is each season
-expanded reading mods, working treadmills, working arcade machines, bench presses, all good for downtime because you’re gonna be waiting for your homies a lot
-also music mods. There are some that add tape decks and even vinyl, full of copywritten music for free! Nothing made after 2000 however.
-food preservation mod
-Sapphs cooking is fun imo.
-extra traits, dynamic traits? And extra jobs and roles are fun for character creation
-cheval de fraise I think it’s called. Check it out, you’ll see
-immersive medicine adds a ton of drugs to the game. Pharmacy drugs, not the fun kind. It gives more uses for first aid, even injecting morphine (or taking too much if you can’t handle it anymore)
-speaking of medicine there are mods that allow you to grow medicinal herbs. These are good for cooking, but mallow I think it’s called? Can cut the amount of time it takes for a fracture to heal in half. And that’s invaluable when the normal rate is 40 in game days.
-however, don’t mix too many crop mods together. Otherwise the right click expanded menu for planting crops gets so big you can’t see the top or bottom of it

I've been waiting for the fucking update thats been moved to a different date every deadline. So even if it arrives, we'll just switch the server to the old version until the mods get revamped for the latest update. Then after a server wipe the game will feature the updated game/mods.

Been thinking about the apocalypse jobs mod after week 3 ingame. But it'll be built in once the server switches to the newest version.

This can be easily abused, especially if you work out alot during the night or use a bike. If the XP gain is set to above the vanilla one then we'll have no need for it. But we will see, maybe vanila XP normally with a nightime boost.

I don't want this since zombie hordes are a staple of the genre. But if fast zombies are on then thats different. We'll see what happens once more people vote.

Agreed.

Rest of the mods seem fine imo

doesn't it also disable them congregating in places where there will be logical to expect a horde, like hospitals?

As for mods- Brita's armor and clothes expansion (or however it's called, the best dress-your-doll mod for the game); Brita's weapons mod; suppressor mod (I don't remember which one- does Brita's weapon mod includes them? I don't remember); the Autotsar's (x) mod (Autotsar's trailers, Tsar's Jaap Wrangler etc.), Filibuster car mod (don't remember the exact mod)
Those are the ones that jump to my mind without looking it up. There are also good mods that add military vehicles and other specialized vehicles, but I don't remember their names.

Oh fucking SICK, I was thinking how cool it would be to have our own PZ server. If the TF2 KF server is anything to go by, all we would need is some steam ID scrambler and to disable the 'Show Players' option in the pause menu and we'd be okay.
I bet if you posted on the Zomboid forum asking about IP/Steam anonymity, pretending to make a server for a group of trannies being 'hunted by trolls' or whatever, you'd get a good answer or two.

Please don't overdo it on the mods. I'd keep it as vanilla as possible - at least at the start. Brita packs and filibuster and all that are quite large, and I'd think it would be wise to keep it simple for starters. Adding vanilla+ mods like True Actions or the Animated Vehicle mod would be a good idea. You can always restart the server with more mods once people demand them and you get it running smoothly.

Keep infection the default - scratch/laceration infection is fine and provides some stakes; saliva-only servers tend to be too easy in my experience.

Population should be default, but the respawn timer should be decreased. Multiplayer zombie spawning is still wonky.

Power out and water out after 2 months would work for newer joiners

US host, somewhere on the East Coast so Europebros won't be totally shafted

As for communication, I would personally like the chat box to be disabled and the server host assign a radio frequency in this thread for us to tune into and communicate. Goes a long way for immersion and allows non-KF joiners to get filtered out (and I just think PZ's radio mechanics are fucking cool).

Server wipe every real-time month would be best, but bi-monthly would work, too.

PVP on, no grace period might be fun but I think it would require testing; it requires better coordination with teammates when using firearms. The most fun I've had with PZ online were on 'PVP always on' servers.

As insane as that may sound, the Zomboid team might actually be coming close to a deadline soon. I'd wait for the nuke that the upcoming update will be to take place before coming up with a community server
Don't bother waiting, it's the release of the UNSTABLE beta, which means the full actual release is months away. The beta is confirmed to have multiplayer disabled.

I was honestly wondering if someone would make a KF Project Zomboid server at some point. I had a similar idea, but I have no time to do it.

Sweet. I'd play. The Night Sprinters mod completely changed the game for me and made me fear the zeds again, but I don't know if it's the best for multiplayer. Also we need True Music.

Does the GoG version work with online servers and mods?

I'd love to play with you lads, just gonna chip in my two cents, Night Sprinters coupled with that one mod that makes zombies want to go indoors when it rains. Forget the name but it's a good difficulty modifier because it's not a thing where everynight they raid, but when it rains it pours sort of deal.

Also I can not stress this enough, ProjectZomboid is one of those autism magnets, just like TF2 and factorio. The Tranny presence is much more intense around this game so I can only imagine the need to weed out sneeders/backlash will be equally so. Until there's a very secure method to isolate and scramble IP's I won't jump in. If that can be ironed out provenly then I'd be happy to join and leave all your oven's on after I slip into your safe haven's.

oh i guess I finally have a reason to play this game, didnt really play it before because a lot of servers are infested with troons.

'Nooo I can't take the risk of playing the game if theres even the slightest possibility of a tranny being on the server!' You sound like a fag and a pussy bro
