I think it’s a situation where the powerful utilize progressive zeitgeist to further their own power and create cartels via second level effects, I.e.

- Amazon fighting for a $15 wage- where large corporations can easily absorb the costs, it may reduce margins for smaller companies and make it harder for them to survive
- Pharmaceutical companies benefiting from the current trans phenomenon (which ensures a steady supply of patients)
- The classic theory where racism was pushed by corporate media to displace Occupy Wall Street and divide the 99%, taking heat off of corporations

Personally, I don’t think the rich and powerful really believe in whatever theories are pushed unlike the footsoldiers, they see it instead as just another tool.

However I definitely think it’s a bit fuzzier around the grifters.
