Feedback Legacy site functionality keeps getting striped out instead of improved upon. Why?

Up-Doot Sticker Notifications
Is it reddit-tier skinner box yes. Does it drive engagement? Unquestionably...see basic psychology and literally any modern site on the internet. And as silly as it sound I also found that I and probably others, would go out of their way to avoid posting low quality posts in order not to accrue negative reactions which ties into the other thing.

Forum Score
Similar to the up-doot issue. Provides an additional layer of data on yourself or a user. Very useful for instantly identifying a disruptive user with high negatives (but not high enough for a pink triangle) or on the flip side a users with an excellent post reputation.

Join Date directly Under PFP
Useful for knowing instantly which era of farmer your replying to.

Most of these issues seem to be a change due to Null's own personal preferences, which is fine but why can't it be a togglable option. Null clearly hates sticker notifications, that's fine...turn...it...off. Hell you could make all your preferred preferences the default, but why stripe the option away totally? I have no idea why removing more features, more customization, more information and transparency, and more ways of site engagement is somehow a net positive. Why?

I do miss the join date, not only was it a great way to pick out spammers who were raising hell with a 7 day old account, but it was fun to see the color coding change.
I feel cheated in that I might never see my join date be anything other than pink.

I fear that nothing will be walked back simply because if anything is undone then the expectation will be made that all changes be undone.

The problem with sticker notifications, and the reddit karma system known as retard points, is that is incentivized certain behavior that was detrimental to the structure of a forum. Even I wanted this retarded XenForo holdover removed before Josh even noticed it was being used in problematic ways, specifically because I knew this system would eventually be used to foster reddit esque behavior. If you do not think that's a intermediate to long term problem for the forum, you have to be missing some part of your brain.

any negatives to the sticker system are offset by the spergouts over secret watched neg rating users. come on, i know im not the only one who loved to see some faggot cry over some user neg rating his post. null has deprived us all of that little bit of enjoyment.

There's a distinction between KF's sticker system and plebbit updoots. The system here has a lot more personality. In my mind, it encourages people to think a couple seconds rather than just immediately mashing "LIKE^^"

That said, Null has considered completely eliminating the stickers more than once, just on account of their unwieldy database footprint. So be happy with what you got.

I think it's reasonable, I personally really don't care about sticker count in me or others, just what you say if we're having a conversation, and when it comes to join dates, many are lurkers or even on a second account.

If you just make it as a toggle, some people (apparently enough) will still be discouraged from posting on here because of their attachment to their score, which is as they've pointed out, like having a Redditor mentality with the karma and gold.

For this reason, I don't think things like PFPs will be ripped out.
