Could this be a Minecraft killer? Looks pretty ambitious. Nice break after the countless games following the Lego Star Wars formula from 2005.

No, that's Lego Dimensions (which I won't be playing). I can see why people confuse those two though, both refer to large-scope realms. Is this that skylanders-esque lego thing? If they make a toy of Unikitty I will buy that toy
You necro-posting niggerThere should be Bonkle in there.
I've been playing Lego City: Undercover from 2017 and I have to say I'm pretty impressed. I've liked the movie property lego games like Indiana Jones, where the structure is playing linear levels over a few times with a cast of different characters that fall into a classification of 1 of 8 "jobs" that let them access a special area in the level(only people with whips can cross a gap with a whipping anchor point, etc) to collect all the hidden doodads and costumes. Lego City: Undercover has these same themes, but in a Grand Theft Auto-style open world city. Halfway decent original plot where you're a disgraced cop coming back to re-arrest a guy that broke out on you, same Lego humor with references for adults, but the modern setting has cute callbacks to other Lego genres like the old medieval sets from the 80's with the Robin Hood guys and the horses, space sets, farming, etc. It has a LOT of unlockables, and you can just jump in vehicles anywhere but there's no Police star system to fuck with your open world play because you're a cop and not the bad guy. Drop in/drop out co-op is pretty good, especially with kids who can do their own thing and not prevent you from doing a story mission or timed race or whatever. Probably the best mix of structured but open-ended play for console and PC lego games. 300+ characters to unlock and 100+ vehicles. Also the game is hilariously racist with the sterotypical asian gang member's voices, the italian mafia, some southern american characters, and some woo-woo indians in a display in the museum hollering loudly.Played the game a while back. Was excellent but fuck is it both huge in size and resource intensive.
Pretty sure if I had played this as a kid I would have shat my pants no joke. I consider it the perfect lego sandbox. Jon burton's team did it again.
Plus there's tons of love for the non licenced lego sets.
