Beware: "Let's go, Brandon" isn't a cheerleader-type statement aimed to motivate some guy named Brandon or the area of Brandon, Florida. It's code for swearing at President Joe Biden, in particular the F word, and you might hear it at the biggest of sporting events, it's appearing more and more online, on social media — and from some notable politicians.

During an Oct. 2 NASCAR race at Talladega Superspeedway in Alabama, driver Brandon Brown was being interviewed by NBC Sports after he won. The NASCAR crowd was chanting something in the background that the sports reporter assumed was "Let's go, Brandon." to cheer on the 28-year-old NASCAR driver. The crowd apparently was chanting "F--- Joe Biden."

Where are we seeing 'Let's go, Brandon'?​

The cryptic insult has been popping up on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and TikTok in a series of memes, photos, explanatory videos, commentary and even Halloween costumes. Sports fans, in particular, have displayed banners and signs at various games. This past weekend at the Florida-Georgia game, the chant could be heard during tailgating, pre-game and during the game. A sign was displayed at the Boston College-Syracuse college football game Saturday in New York.

Outside of sports events, the taunting phrase has been spotted on banners and signs at Biden visits. The president's motorcade drove past a "Let's go, Brandon" banner through Plainfield, New Jersey, last week, according to AP, and the chant could be heard from protesters at a recent Biden appearance in Virginia.

• On Oct. 28, Doug Andres, press secretary for Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell, retweeted a photo of the phrase on a construction sign with the tweet: "Spotted in Falls Church, VA."


• On Oct. 27 during Game 2 of the World Series with the Houston Astros and the Atlanta Braves, Texas Sen. Ted Cruz posed with a Houston Astros fan. That person was holding a sign with "Let's go, Brandon" in all caps, and Cruz posted that photo on social media.
