I will begin by asserting the allegedly dystopian version of the UK in "A Clockwork Orange" to be vastly superior and more attractive to a potential visitor than the current real life iteration by one or two orders of magnitude.

Honorable Mention, as it is really only relatively much better when compared to other dystopias, is "The Matrix" (1999), since the machines have at least given the humans a fairly normal facsimile of life and at most a mental playground where anything is possible. They could have just as easily made their dream lives an absolute living Hell or just given them nothing at all, it's not like the humans would have had any say in the matter lol. While inside of the matrix you could, theoretically via intense meditation or drugs or something, stumble upon the ability to do all of the cool shit the humans do in the first movie without also possessing knowledge of the irrefutable evidence of artificiality that they did. Then you could live out the remainder of your dreaming battery life as something like a superhero in the most realistic MMO ever or w/e

What are some other "dystopias" that are actually better than the society we have arrived at?

Cyberpunk. Most people live in positively spacious apartments compared to the pod life, you can still own your own vehicle, you can go to the Moon, taxes aren't so bad, degeneracy, homelessness, and crime are about equivalent to today, and just like our world your only choice for a job is something shitty or being a corporate drone (neither of which pay well). There also doesn't seem to be any equivalent of vaccine mandates, mask mandates, or climate lockdowns. Night City is also a lot cleaner than the average American city.

I was about to say it's worse because the government is controlled by arms manufacturing megacorps. Then I realised its not that different from reality.
But, one unarguable plus is Night City is thousands of miles from the UK.

Running Man. Everything was pretty much the same except poor people went on reality television to get killed.
Related to Bachman: The Long Walk. Because it's a lesser known Stephen King book, it's about a contest in which 100 teenage boys compete by walking until there's only one left, who gets whatever they want. If they slow down too much or just give up, they get shot. Think about how beneficial this would be for society. 100 fucking retards who know they have a 99% chance of dying get removed from the gene pool.

it would be better if everything involving chance like lotto tickets or slot machines had a small chance of you being enslaved for a period of time, like what ross scott suggested

Warhammer 40k: at least freaks are crushed under the boot of 7ft tall walking battle tanks known as Space Marines. I'll take my exterminatus at the hands of some zealot inquisitor if it means I can watch the degens burn with me.

Death race 2000 and rollerball. We already have the corporate bullshit, just stay off the roads when the brightly colored murder cars pass by and don't join the blood sport. Sure you got rich assholes blowing up trees with future guns but at least they're not raping kids. Plus eventually Frankenstein becomes president and runs over Austin powers and you get to chant "Jonathan, Jonathan, Jonathan!" While spooky organ music plays.
