How do you meet new, quality people to hang out with once old frens go away? Start kayaking? Pay goodhearted whore to hang out with? Pick up hard drugs? Share your tactics.

Personally I'm nearing 40 and after fun 20's I now find myself in a social desert. Old acquaintances moved abroad, got boring and/or retarded and things like that. People at my current work are cunts. Hanging out with my wife is fun and all but it would be cool to grab a beer and talk shit with other people from time to time.

Ah... the good old mid-life crisis.

So, you know all those hobbies you thought were "Old Man" hobbies. Well, you are an old man now. Try pursuing a few. With a good hobby, you get something interesting to do, and you get a whole host of other people who are interested in the same things.

Or you can get a sports-car, a comb-over, and a tacky zoot-suit, so you can be that creepy dude trying to hold onto his 20s by trying to pick up cheerleaders.

Volunteering can be a good way to meet people who are both put-together enough to have free time to spend on working FOR FREE, and are also selfless enough to donate their free time to causes besides their own gratification. Going to a bar is unlikely to find you decent people and if you aren't already going to church, don't bother unless you feel a sincere conviction in your heart that their doctrines are all true.

I mean I'm a similar age but I'm married with kids, meeting new people just doesn't occur to me.

I'm safely into middle age, sliding into insignificance.

Plus I don't really like most people, I've learnt to not expect anything when it comes to life anymore.
