He’ll probably start hating the elderly for taking all the good jobs.
It’s usually stuff like overnight shelf restocking, cleaning up the compactor room, fry cook. Especially since he’s been known to be violent, they’d try to keep him away from the public as much as possible.

As someone else mentioned earlier, on Lucas bagging groceries. He would likely put a sack of potatoes in a bag on top of a loaf of bread and think "plenty good". He also would scream about being gaslit if anyone criticized him. Not sure he would be fit to bag groceries.

JFC....so a very recently homeless guy with a Saturday Night Special gun (complete with taped stock) and a lockpick set....is Lucas' new friend...I'm assuming this is the same person who Lucas said would pay his own way to fly to Spokane to help him pick up chicks. Pure insanity.

With his pathetic life, totally useless, any person with active brain cells would be completely depressed to the point of suicide, what is Lucas sad about?

The fact that he doesn't get to eat as much restaurant food as he used to

It's so very Lucas to parse his life this way.

Not "Well I shouldn't have gained all this weight, but i have a roof over my head and haven't had a screaming-in-public episode in almost a year...also, my feet are better and I'm on my diabetes meds".

Just "I miss being homeless cuz I could gorge on more Clinkerdagger".

With this as his principal concern, literally the ONLY thing he writes wistfully about, I think we can expect a return to homeless lucas within a year. He sees his previous unstable homelessness in a positive light... Because he got Sushi once a month. Just THINK how stupid that is.

I certainly don't think any of us here see him as having any real chance of remaining gainfully employed; once he's out from under Mallon's umbrella; rather, he'll start to feel like its unfair that he doesn't get to do, eat, and say what he wants WHEN he wants, and then...

The minute he is not under supervision or accountable to anyone he will stop taking his meds again. This is almost certain considering his past behavior.

Then the final chapter starts which ends with amputated feet and/or death.

Weren’t they trying to find the right meds for him?
SSDIs, antipsychotics etc. all seem similar, but really aren’t.
Whatever cocktail they have him on seem to be working (as best they can for someone like wern).

Why is he on depakote? Do they think he’s having seizures that make him act out?
Just to add: most seizures aren’t what people imagine, ie. stiff muscles, spasms, etc.
That’s grand mal seizure, which are quite severe.

I’m still betting on a SR seroquel or something similar during the day to keep his mood level, and who the fuck knows what his nighttime meds are.
