I'm in Transfiguration Class. I hate it, I just don't have the affinity for this branch of magic. It's been 15 minutes of me trying to turn this raven into a glass cup and all it feels like all I've done is wave my wand around and look like a total twat. Well, if I get a D in this class, it should average out with my grades from Charms and D.A.D.A. for a respectable-
"You seem to be struggling. A lot."
There's some Slytherin girl next to me. I don't think I've seen her before, but she's already eying me with a trembling smirk, like she's trying to hold back a laugh.
"Guess you could say you're trans-fobic, eh, eh, eh, eh?", she keeps bumping me with her elbow with each 'eh'. "Don't beat yourself up over sucking at magic, the Hufflepuff kids tend to be reta-"
"MALFOOOOOOOOOID!", the teacher suddenly bellows, slamming his book onto the table. "ARE YOU SPREADING THE HATEFUL AND BIGOTED ART OF TRANSPHOBIA WITHIN MY CLASSROOM AGAIN?", this teacher is a weird one. He's claimed to have used transfiguration to turn himself into a woman. I guess you could maybe do it if you were skilled enough, but I don't think he ever did achieve that. He just looks like a fat ugly man in a dress.
The girl-Malfoid-scoffs. "Whatever, Mister Thornwick."
"IT IS MRS! MRS THORNWICK!", he's banging on the tables now. He's snapped his wand in half and thrown it at the nearest student. A gnarly, haired finger with pink-and-blue gloss on the tip points at the girl. "FIFTY POINTS FROM SLYTHERIN!"
Hold on, Thornwick? Isn't that the teacher who got in hot water after offering 'private tutoring sessions' to some of the first years?
Apparently my inner monologue wasn't so inner. He's looking at me now, a burning hateful wrath that threatens to pierce right through me. "ONE HUNDRED POINTS FROM HUFFLEPUFF FOR SPREADING FALSE LIES AND RUMORS! SHAME ON THE HUFFLEPUFFS, FOR OPPRESSING THE HUMBLE AND LOVING FOLX OF THIS FINE SCHOOL!"
The tower bell chimes, signalling the end of class. The teacher storms out in a huff, the rest of the students shuffling out. Shit. Hufflepuff's already got the least points, the lads back at the dorms are gonna crucify me with Sectumsemptra spells for this.
"Hey", it's that girl again. She's got a big smile on her face. "You're pretty cool for a Hufflepuff. I'm gonna hang out with some people over at Black Lake shore tonight. Duels all night, one of them might even get their house elf so we can toss it around a bit. Wanna join?"
"Uh, yeah, sure," I find myself saying.
"Great! Meet us at the far side, where the beech tree sits," she flashes a pearly white grin and skips away.
Seems like I've made a new friend. At least one good thing came out of today.
