Because then the gooner chuds wouldn’t have their racist blonde waifu, which is what this is really about despite what people are claiming.

In reality Dramione doesn’t work cleanly because he’s a racist thoroughly towards her and there’s never an opportunity to get them together and change that. It would make Hermione look really bad to spend 7 years being slurred at just to undo it for dick. IMO it’s the same reason why Malfoid fails too because it’s just having her become not racist for dick. It gives the characters no agency or ability to develop on their own without penis being involved and is an example of bad writing. Malfoy also never expresses any sort of willful affection towards her to play off. Fanfic needs something there to make it work.

Really if you want that inter house connection it makes more sense to me to have Ron be Slytherin. Everyone always says Harry but the whole point of the hat letting Harry go in Gryffindor is that he chooses. It’s telling the reader you can steer your lot in life but you have to be active about it. Harry in Slytherin sort of kills that vibe. Ron in Slytherin presents a more dynamic relationship with his family (this same thing could be done with Ginny too if you didn’t want to separate Ron and Harry). If a Weasley is in Slytherin you can then discuss how that impacts their connection with their family. Have the parents be disappointed, Percy ashamed, Fred and George joking about it all the time, the older brother (who has been removed from the Weasley family for a period) seeing the bigger picture and not caring as much, and Ron or Ginny struggling with the idea that they aren’t like their family members. It would then tie into that theme that it doesn’t matter. You direct the course of your life and despite being in the racist class you are better than that and not racist.

They want to put a restriction on your ability to use Floo Powder freely and your right to bear wand in any circumstance.

Well I think it helps that Harry/Malfoid is way less rapey than Draco/Hermione tends to be, for starters. Really not much, if any, of that content being made as far as I can see - as this thread evinces, it's been overwhelmingly to entirely wholesome stuff instead. Malfoid herself has been pretty consistently characterized across a million fan artists' work as a tsundere childhood rival-->lover type, not some romanticized abuser (indeed she's shown not wanting to actually seriously hurt him when people recreate scenes like his rejection by Cho Chang or the Sectumsempra duel, the polar opposite of a sadist who gets hard/wet from the thought of hurting their love interest as Draco's often been depicted re: Hermione in fanfiction). And Harry himself is pretty much unimaginable as the sort of character to be a rapist or even just come on to his love interest too strongly.

OTOH Draco/Hermione was fodder for insane fangirls who jilled off to creepy rape fetishism, it was pretty much Twilight/50 Shades back before Stephanie Meyer ever published the former. The Harry/Malfoid relationship also needs Malfoid to fully redeem herself & turn to the side of good, more consciously & strongly than Malfoy did canonically, to seal the deal whereas Draco/Hermione usually keeps Draco evil or at least a mega jackass (because otherwise it no longer makes much sense for him to choke & assfuck Hermione every night). 'Dramione' shippers didn't want him to be redeemed & grow into a better person at the story's end, at least not all the way, and arguably needed him to not do so to hold up their fantasy, even if it would've made for a better story overall.

And of course, said writers have been getting their Dramione rape fics published as actual books (just as 50 Shades was originally Twilight fanfiction), thereby contributing to the enshittification of fiction IRL. Shit like Alchemised, which came out just last year, but it's been going on back to at least 2007 with The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare (who in turn based it off her Draco fanfiction, which infamously plagiarized other books & contemporary pop culture way back then).

"Good girl gets with bad boy" is white noise in written western media, it's so overdone it's insane.

The people who are saying western men got oneshotted by anime tsunderes are completely right. And that's because the archetype is so rare in western fiction that its hitting them like crack

To add to what People are saying, Hermione is a moral fag. She'd forgive Malfoy for what he did but it would forever stain their relationship if they ever had one. She's vindictive when she wants to be. Meanwhile, Harry is a lot less moral and willing to forgive past wrong doings than Hermione is.
