Culture Martha Stewart, 82, slams ‘age-appropriate’ style rules: ‘I’ve dressed the same since I was 17’ - There's something smoking, and it's not the turkey...

Growing older: It’s a good thing.

Judging by her internet-breaking “thirst traps,” history-making Sports Illustrated Swimsuit cover and ever-growing coterie of A-list pals, domestic doyenne Martha Stewart might just be in the prime of her life.

And at 82, Stewart’s got no plans to slow down — or switch up her style to suit traditional rules about “dressing for one’s age.”

“Dressing for whose age?” the multi-hyphenate quipped to Page Six Style on the red carpet at Tuesday’s Fashion Group International Night of Stars gala when asked about the subject.

“I don’t think about age. I think people are more and more and more [fabulous] than they’ve ever been in their senior years, and I applaud every one of them.”

Stewart was on hand to present her longtime friend Dennis Basso with the Lifetime Achievement Award, and further supported the designer by wearing one of his silver-sequined bouclé suits on the carpet — a more Plaza-appropriate take on the sultry, slit-up-to-there style she recently modeled on social media, and not entirely unlike the metallic gown she selected for the 2001 Met Gala more than two decades ago.

“I’ve dressed the same since I was 17,” the “Entertaining” author and former teen model told us. “If you look at my pictures on my Instagram, I look pretty much the same.”

It seems her nearly two million Instagram followers would agree.

“Martha still out here slaying!!” a fan commented on Stewart’s snaps in the aforementioned high-slit dress; “28 yes. 82 no. You’re absolutely stunning,” another added.

Age is just a number, as they say.

Will have to post the respective images of Stewart in another post, website won't let me copy/paste.

Now that's a woman that celebrates glamour while aging gracefully in style. You go.

Why must you do this.
It certrainly brought a smile to my face. I love it when women embrace their age while pushing boundaries of what is considered "sexy." She was a model before; she STILL has it.

Fun fact: she did a shoot for Green Mountain coffee TOPLESS. Now that's dedication.

She's old as fuck and not that attractive anymore. I don't get why some dudes want to fuck older women when younger ones objectively look better.

Let these images cleanse the eyes of those that see it and correct @The Last Stand 's GILF fever.

You're entitled to your tastes, but I disagree. Looking like that in your 80s with honesty and tact is a dream I bet many women would love to have. They just need self confidence within themselves to achieve that standard.

Even so, she still looks young for EIGHTY.

I fucking hate "eternal teenagers" and their retardation. This is even more stupid than skimpy clothes.
That being said, in the case she's not wearing makeup she does look pretty good for eighty.
Given that we have troons posing for commercials and Black women appropriating European/African fashion (poorly), this is a refreshing change of pace.

One that I welcome with open arms. It's non political, it's tasteful, it's inspirational, it's spicy, AND it's Martha Stewart.

tbh cougars are more self-aware and don't have the quasi-BPD a lot of younger chicks have.
Also both your examples of nubile attractiveness are Asian so I'm calling you out as a weeb

Yeah she looks young for 80, but at the same time, when you're 80, you shouldn't be acting like a teenager or a 20 year old. You should be wiser and be a paragon of your community rather than worrying about how sexy you are because that's how wisdom gets passed down over generations. Plus, an attractive 80 year old woman is still much less attractive than an average 18-25 year old, so why bother competing with younger women over a vanity prize?

Edit: typos

It's not true. She has not dressed the same way for the last 65 years. I clearly remember her orange jumpsuit phase.
Subtlety is an art oft-forgotten in today's world. She matches it perfectly. I'd argue that's what missing with today's wave of feminism.

Social media and OnlyFans has turned younger women into plastic dolls with no self-awareness.

I don't disagree. They do have better personalities and charm than most women but I want kids though. It's kinda hard to have kids with post-menopausal women.

The weeb is immunized against all dangers: One may call him a scoundrel, parasite, swindler, profiteer, it all runs off him like water off a raincoat. But call him a weeb and you will be astonished at how he recoils, how injured he is, how he suddenly shrinks back: "I’ve been found out".

Now YOU'RE trying too hard for your tastes.

By whose standards? Who are you to say how Martha Stewart should conduct/present herself in public? And why set the threshold of attractiveness as low as 20, even teenage with your statement?

It's a shitpost mate. It's not that deep.

It's very pathetic for an older woman is trying to relive her youth when she's this elderly even if she is more attractive than most 80 year olds. It's a common trend among a lot of older Americans to do this shit, between the type of plastic surgeries that women get to look young at the age of 60+ or men buying midlife crisis cars, trying to hang out with young adults and do shit they do as if they are 20 again. It's rather sad that such people have an eternal Peter Pan syndrome instead of embracing growing old and seeing the ability to finally rest on the laurels of their lifelong work as a positive.

Plus, if she really wanted to be seen as attractive, she would not divorced her husband and not try to be a career woman. There's no point in trying to appear attractive to a bunch who don't know who you are, don't care or associate you with getting arrested like 20 years ago with fraud and laughing at you.
And why set the threshold of attractiveness as low as 20, even teenage with your statement?
By teenage, I mean 18. Stop trying ro make it seem like I'm some sort of pedo when what I'm saying isn't even controversial.

Because thats the norm for the vast majority of men across time and space. Women in between the ages of 18 - 27 were always thought of being the most beautiful they could be. I'm sorry you're into older women, but most normal men find young women attractive rather than women that could be their mothers or grandmothers. That is not normal in the slightest.

I'll say this. It's her or Hillary Clinton. Clinton is too shrewd for my tastes; Stewart provides those vibes I saw with Hillary but much more tasteful, respectful and sexy with her personality and culinary skills.

I'm taking this as a personal W. Especially given today's world. Let me have this.

Hillary Clinton looks like an old foot.
