Mega Rad Gun Thread

Citori O/U is sitting at the FFL, it's a "special trap edition" which I think is a XT with some gold fancy font lettering on the receiver. First gun I've ever wanted to post pics of but won't. Got a couple bins full of once fired AA hulls, some Winchester powders, a case of primers, some random wads and a good old mec reloader on the workbench. Thinking 7/8th loads of 7.5s. I know loading 12 isn't a money saver or anything but I can't see the hobby without reloading. Just throwing the shells away after you shoot them? Bananas to me.

I know this watering hole is more tactical focused (and frankly I am when it comes to guns too) but really enjoying how relaxing clays are. Want to even ditch my shitty field equipment and dress like a fancy sporting gentlemen now too. Is this how fuddery begins? Googling for "wool shooting vest fashion"?

I don't think so. It's really nice and peaceful to just go out in an open field and blast clays or Doves. Well, I say this but I now carry a 2011 and a snub nose, so maybe I have entered the beginning stages of fuddery. I still love my AR's though, the day I start thinking "all you need is a shotgun, a hunting rifle, and a nineteen-ELEBEN heheh!" is the day I'll remove myself from the gene pool since I'll be too far gone.

I ordered a .200 high front sight for it but it'll be January before it comes in so its just hold under for now. did upgrade to wooden grips from the hogue rubbers. none of the anaconda grips cover the backstrap so the rubber doesn't actually help you.

started reading a book recently
I just discovered something really interesting, what I believe is the only depiction of an Aimpoint PC-80 in literally any form of media ever, and It's on the cover of Marching Through Georgia. I always thought the Draka machinepistols were just supposed to be sa-23's but the woman on the cover (who I believe is supposed to represent the character Sofie Nixon) is unmistakably holding a PC-80 with a shortened barrel. You can even make out the charging handle

As much as I shit on Russia in terms of their society, technology and especially military technology, their small arms is not something I can really take a big issue with, when it comes to the ability to procure and produce stuff, and build it with decent quality. The AK-12 program is fucking retarded, but they are at least trying to fix that. It's still not as retarded as the US NGSW program. But they can build rifles in good quality, and quantity. AFAIK the Saiga's made for the civilian market were still far and beyond the best quality AK's for the civilian market in Europe, until they got banned after Crimea.

Note, this is not a take about the AK platform itself, but just the Russian arms industry when it comes to their production.
I have a baikal mp-161k 22lr rifle. Izhevsk manufactured. It's got insanely high quality metallurgy and the cheapest weirdest design possible for what is functionally a 10-22 in a tube reciever.

Russian civilians have access to pretty nice guns just not assault style guns. They're the only people making revolver shotguns that aren't just 45 long colt with "410" written on em

Not at all. It's a much more common thing socially and thus social-medially but we all simply love firearms and shooting/shooting sports. I really like the 10mm even though it's a round with far fewer options for a platform, it's more expensive per round, and it beats the fuck out of weapons. Also, ammo selection is more limited because (as has been pointed out) many manufacturers load it like the .40 S&W. Point is, we all like what we like and the vast majority here don't care to investigate why.

4" barrel? I've never run a .44 under 5". Does it give you a big ol' fireball at the muzzle?

just not assault style guns.
???
Are you not aware of the Saiga TR line, the SR1, AKV-521 project or the way they originated the trend of super modified Saiga-12's and Vepr's? And VPO "shotguns"? Yeah they have an arbitrary and retarded 5 year probationary period in their gun licenses before they can buy rifles but they can buy semi auto rifles and from what a Russian associate who worked in the firearms industry told me the cops really don't give a shit about the magazine capacity laws or the de facto but largely ignored ban on silencers as long as you're not an actual criminal.

Appreciating high quality, more traditional style firearms isn't Fuddery. Fuddery would be saying something like "Why wouldya wanna git some AR mouse gun or 'at 9mm plastic gun? Git ya what our granpappies woulda used. Sumpin' wood'n steel 'at shoots a thirty cal! Won't need a clip 'at holds more'n ten bullits then!"

More about experimental slavic madness:

Isn't that the gun from the Dolph Lundgren flick Red Scorpion? The one that was just a South African FAL with a fake second barrel and a Lewis Gun style pan on top?

you can obtain a zenitco ak and larp as spetznaz sure but every gun show in america has a smorgasboard of shitty knockoff military weapons and I really don't think that's part of the culture of gun ownership in russia

From what I assume and Understand, "tactical" Russian gun culture only started emerging 20-30 years ago among Ex Special forces and Military types who got real big into competitive shooting. Then video games and modern movies came along and the same thing that happened with AR-15's in America as a result of Call of Duty and the AWB expiring happened in Russia with AK's.

Even range ammo is 20+cents a round

I honestly feel bad for people in countries that are able to get guns but are simply fucked by import taxes and high ammo cost

its a 4 1/4 inch .45. My hand loads run around the same velocities as .44 mag (330gr @ 1,100FPS). after dark the fireball is impressive, especially with my black powder hand loads. they'll throw a fire ball a few feet from the muzzle, and sparks farther. certainly not something you shoot during fire season!

The agony of EDIT GUN not (gin) choice haunts me yet again.

6.5 creedmore, folding stock, ~22-24 inch barrel, good Customer service

Options: Ruger Precision rifle (out the Door $1450)

Shot one before, liked it. Gen 4 is better, ARCA rail, mlok, better stock.

Or, wait a bit for a Seekins Precision HIT Pro M3 6.5 24 inch

$800 more but it's extremely nice with even better CS than Ruger and a Trigger tech diamond installed from factory.

Both fold for storage/transport, look cool (most important thing) and I'd be happy installing a bipod and my Burris XTR Pro 5.5-30 and blasting steel and paper immediately.

Help me spend my money 🤑

Ruger is making essentially a generational improvement to the 10/22.

Oh wow ... I might actually buy another 10/22 now.

Thought my stainless was as good as it would get....

Argentina and yeah we have pretty decent gunlaws.
I mean you guys have less strict gun laws than Mexico. I hear in Mexico there’s only 1 gun store ran by the military. And you’re only allowed 200 rounds of ammunition per year. It’s easier to get a smuggled gun from the black market over there than their own gun store.
