I'm starting to seriously consider getting a can. Should I stick with just getting a new barrel for my AR in 5.56, or should I get a .300Blackout upper? Is .5.56 completely pointless in subsonic?
5.56 doesn't suppress very well. If you want quiet 300 was designed for that purpose.

is subsonic 5.56
Subsonic 5.56 is a.22

Perhaps I should have clarified. I meant, is subsonic 5.56 even worth running out of a suppressed AR? Or should I switch to .300 Blackout?
There's reason to not use either. 5.56 subsonic is not great and the "perfect" subsonic .300 Blackout is still being chased after all these years.
It's ironic, really, that marketing pushes both rounds as a first suppressor host when they both really suck.

What sucks about everything that isn't an MP5? I'm seriously asking.
I know a lot of people have replied to this already but I am giving my unwarranted opinion.

Most PCC's on the market right now are straight blowback. You are paying $800+ for a STEN (okay, they are not open bolt but my point remains).
You're paying a premium for the most basic firearm imaginable. Most of the time the recoil is going to be comparable to an untuned AR-15 of the same length. They offer nothing. Some of these pistols say that have some kind of recoil management, but when you look into it they are really no better than the Blish system in the Thompson. The 'best' contemporary to the MP5 is the MPX and if fucking sucks. I have seen this IRL in my local competitions. Sometimes they run fine, more often than not they choke. Most of the local guys running them will spend their inter-match time cleaning the receiver and scrubbing out their mags because they are terrified of getting just a little desert dust into them.

In comparison, the MP5 just runs. It is a damn smooth action that they have spent 60+ years smoothing out. It'll take most ammo without complaint, apart from the weakest powderpuff loads, all the jams I have seen are from people running their shitty weak handloads. Controls are easily accessible and just feel right. In full auto (or FRT) it shines like nothing else and is incredible controllable, I mean seriously, you can dump a whole mag without it so much as twitching. Suppressed it runs great (but I think you need a special locking block for the K series). Overall, it's just the best, and once you shoot one enough you realize it.
It has some shortcomings, mostly around the reload, but they are easy to train against. The other issue is the price of good spare parts and mags, but suck it up buttercup. If you have money to waste on an outdated idea like a pistol caliber PDW you have the money to waste on the best version of it.

.300 is a 6 year old meme round. After you build a platform to fire it, you'll do it once and drop it since the rounds are so damn expensive.

Im also going to add, as someone with a suppressed 11.5, suppressors are not worth it. I fell into the fad and felt i "needed" to get one 5 years back. Its a toy. If you're okay with just wasting money on a cool toy then you do you, but thats ammo or a whole ass other firearm you could get.

Haven't got a 607 yet, but H&R's 604 is worth the money. Really nicely built, just bare in mind that the furniture feels kinda airsofty. It doesn't seem fragile, and I took it to a local larperator match and it survived just fine, but it doesn't feel as robust as the surplus GI furniture I've owned before.
It's better build because it's made by NoDak Spud which PSA bought and rebranded to H&R. NDS was always considered quality.

The furniture is probably just plastic, I believe the old stock sets were fiberglass.

Are we still doing 3rd Gen appreciation posts?
During COVID, my local gunshop somehow got a few NIB 5906's and 5946's in stock. Because I was flush with COVID cash at the time, I picked up a 5946 because I was doin' the LEM thing, too, and the 5946 honestly has a fairly good one, like a short revolver stroke, about as long as a Glock trigger pull. It came NIB with a broken slide stop plate (a known issue, I guess), not a huge deal at the time as you could still get them. Only thing I don't like about it is the magazine safety, but I don't really consider it a deal breaker.

us mp5 friends still languishing from the turmoil of both the ridiculous price of an A3 stock and from as far as i can tell the (((rules))) still in place
My local gun store actually has a new one in stock.
I think it was like $300, lmao.

Putting a suppressor on anything supersonic isn't going to get you where you were trying to go.

1. .300 Blackout has a 36 year legacy dating back to 1990 when JD Jones made the first .300 Whisper, the direct, extremely similar ancestor of .300 Blackout

>Reduce sound signature

>Tame recoil
>Reduce overpressure which can lead to brain damage with long term exposure

Did you get something really bad using 60 year old technology like a Turbo K?

Theyre covered if youre a plaintiff on the SilencerShop case (GOA), not if you are a plaintiff on the Jensen case (FPC). These two cases were consolidated together because they were pretty much the same thing. Jensen just didnt challenge AOWs so those plaintiffs didn't get relief.
Yeah, going over it again it seems the one "win" the fed defense had was challenging the standing of Jensen since they tried to add AOWs to their complaint with a supplementary declaration instead of including them from the outset.

Im also going to add, as someone with a scoped L115, scopes are not worth it. I fell into the fad and felt i "needed" to get one 5 years back. Its a toy. If you're okay with just wasting money on a cool toy then you do you, but thats ammo or a whole ass other firearm you could get.

Flow through sig slx can. Got it through connection from the factory.

Its just my opinion, I think they're overrated and mostly for Instagram cred. You're never going on a commando mission so its silly to me.

And I'm sure .300 has been around for a while but it wasn't a mainstream round until 2020-ish

Again, just one white nigga's opinion

Speak for yourself, some of us LARP for a living

One time I did recon at the local mickey Ds with my jeep, after I parked my jeep on the parking barrier I had some crack head approach me. Something about "you hit my vehicle" or whatever Ebonics he was speaking. I pulled out my 3in 300blkout ARP with a Omega 300 DT and opened up. He seemed confused and unharmed as I exfiled to another mcdonalds down the street as the one I originally checked in wouldn't serve me.

I nearly lost my life that day.
