Thinking of buying a Nagant. Issue is I’d probably have to store it at my parents house and I’ve really only shot handguns.
If you're thinking about a Mosin, don't. They're called garbage-rods for a reason and nowadays you'll be lucky to see one for less than $300 for really shit condition. They're worth maybe $80 at most, for the novelty. My experiences with a few Mosin have involved hammers being mandatory equipment as the bolts frequently jam shut.

So, a Mosin Nagant or a Nagant revolver?
Well, what’s a good rifle? I was thinking about a Mosin because I could get ammo for cheap from someone local.

There are some good Mosins out there but like Rent Tin said, they're insanely overpriced now.

What kind of rifle do you want?
It depends what your purpose is, plinking, hunting, defense?
Ideally I’d just want something fun to shoot with. That’s a very useless quality, but I haven’t gone hunting in years. Plinking for the most part, but I’d like something my mom could try to learn to use for self-defense.

I do agree that they're insanely overpriced now, but they do shoot well, so that does not mean they're garbage. Out of the 4 Mosin Nagants I own, I've never had the bolt jam shut but I know it's an issue for rifles that were stored with cosmoline. All it really takes to remove it is a hairdryer and a rag and clean as you normally would.

I've never had an issue with mine but I don't treat it like worthless trash like everyone did when they were on rifle racks for $60 a pop. Mines actually all matching numbers and in excellent shape. I want to get a Finn eventually.

Exactly, some maintenance will keep it running well pretty much indefinitely. Get rid of ALL the cosmoline, check your extractor to ensure it's not bent, and it will run just fine.

*ak owners laugh smugly* after being told by retards that my chosen caliber will cease to exist for the last year makes this feel a little less shitty than it is.

Unless you live in one of the more restrictive areas, an AR-15 is probably the way to go if you want a rifle to cover both of those bases on a modest budget. Just get a plain-Jane off-the-rack one and have at it.

If it doesn't have to serve as a self-defense weapon at all, a Ruger 10/22 (or one of the myriad copies) is a hoot and a half and the ammo is as cheap as it gets.

Edit: a pistol caliber carbine like the Ruger PC9 would also be a totally viable option.

What's even the story here? They're going to send the "surplus" to Ukraine? Lake City is going to slow down production to make room for 6.8x51?

The Romanian Mosin M44 carbines deserve a look. They are generally overlooked by Russophiles and assumed to be inferior quality but they were somewhat rare in comparison to the Russian and Chinese produced versions. I managed to snag one for $300 2 years ago that nobody wanted because "It isn't Russian" and wound up being very surprised. Shoots accurate enough and the action is solid. Bolt can stick but only if you're being too gentle with it. They are post-war production but in generally good condition and parts matching a lot of the time.

The days of $60 Mosins and $150 K98s from early 2000s are long gone but there are hidden gem variants that pop up now and then.

Some Former NRA executive turned Antigun faggot is sperging about the CMMG Dissent. Surprise he does not understand how ballistics work and mistakes Bushmaster for Ruger. Bonus, this faggot calls the Dissent muh Uzi.

Excess Lake City ammo produced for military contracts (specifically 5.56 m855/green tip) will no longer be on the civilian market. If the article is to be trusted the decision has already been made.

Yeah, but is the government going to offer compensation pay to Winchester for all the surplus they won't be able to sell? Is the military just going to claim all ammo as necessary? Or are they going to roll back M855 production?
The government breaching the contract out of spite for the average gun owner seems plausible, but that would sit pretty low on the priority list of ways they have to fuck with us. Now if they're going to send SS109 to allied countries to replace donations to Ukraine or ramp up training, or start rolling in the machines to make 6.8x51 everything becomes clear. Because I remember the "DHS bought 1.2 billion rounds!" story that had us worried about the upcoming FEMA camps roundup.

PSA LPK is ok, I've definitely used better.
My luck with them has been alright.
If you can afford better get it.
Aero or even Anderson is probably nicer.
CMMG makes a good LPK.
Larue MBT triggers start around $100 and are damn nice.

Every pistol is susceptible to limp wristing IMO.
Some more than others perhaps.
I've never had a Glork have a limp wrist malfunction even when intentionally trying to make it happen yet that exact same gun on the same trip malfunction when my father shot it.
I have a PSA lol on order just to finish up an Anderson lower. They're OK, not nice but perfectly functional.

That article is unconfirmed as of now

"Lord's Prayer tattoo" is clearly marked John 3:16, literally a Gospel without the Lord's Prayer in it in the first place.

These are the people who think they are smart enough to tell you what to do.
