What optic is this? Looks like a Vortex 1-10 but not sure.

Where do you guys order primers or powder I'm gonna order some percussion caps and wondering if the 40 dollar hazmat fee is the norm. I know there's gonna be a hazmat fee but not sure if 40 is high or normal.

it's determined by volume and method of transport and set by federal regulation for interstate commerce in 49 CFR somewhere for DOT stuff (https://www.ecfr.gov/current/title-49/subtitle-B/chapter-I/subchapter-C/part-171). there's 4 major parts: admin/processing, inspection, volatility, and volume/mass. about the only way to "save" is to be in the regular business of handling explosives (with a FEL, or a SOT endorsement on your current FFL, which i have) or be a manufacturer or receiver of explosive or hazardous materials in the due course of business where you pay a pro-rated flat fee each quarter or year. superfund sites also get some special rules. DOT has some fees if you need specific handling or chemical safety requirements too.

the alternative is burning vehicles, industrial hazardous waste spills from lack of training, packaging, or care when transporting, lack of safety devices, and downing aircraft or whatever from problems during shipment from poor or inadequate inspectors.

the good news is that there is a specific exemption for non-licensed persons for allowed materials for personal use (primers for example, or black powder or lithium batteries, various chemical solvents for marine/animal pen cleaning, et c) where the fee is per item/box/package rather than mass or volume.

with very rare exception, it should be between $20 and $50 per box depending on the item and other things. containerized batteries have a fixed fee of $1, $3, or $5 typically, and this is paid by the shipper, not the buyer.
 
I have finally bought a membership at my local range. They're assholes, but they're 5 minutes from my house. I've been shooting around once a week, though I'll probably dial it back to every 2 weeks once I feel like I'm not a total chump.

I'm not gud yet, but with God as my witness, I am going to git gud.

My father's B22 does the FTE thing
This is a good sign imo, as a tight chamber is really only found on accurate guns. I'll keep it in mind, but it looks like I'd need to cut down and thread a regular version to avoid a bull barrel. Probably also some stock cutting/sanding depending on how much the synthetic version weighs.

Seems like a solid option but maybe a bit pricey. I'll have to look around at reviews and group testing as I doubt the quality of chambers since many places prioritize an "omnivorous" gun.

I'm pretty sure it's the Chink's NEW rifle that's having keyholing issues. The one that is basically a piston AR knock-off that they adopted to replace their bullpups.

I'm a fan of good ol' fashioned LSA grease (Lubricant, Small Arms) for longer term storage. It is a wet grease, so it can collect crud if you slather it on liberally, but a light coating works pretty well for something you're mostly keeping socked away for just in case.
 
since we're talking about gun lube here, has anybody know of that gun lubricant thats made by a single guy who posts on /k/? frankly all I remember about it is that its suspiciously white-colored but i've always been curious to how well it performs.

Nano Gun Oil. it works like a less viscous frog lube and performs very well in competition handguns that are very tight fitting or in carry pieces that experience salt corrosion from sweat. other than those two properties it's not significantly better than CLP or similar. the biggest benefit is that it's fully synthetic and contains no solvents that might mess with finishes or other materials, which is nice on old guns.

Late, but yeah. Welcome to American gun laws, which are basically all fucking retarded. You can own a CAR-15 clone, but by the time you're done with the paperwork, might as well have bought a regular 16 inch AR, way less hassle. It's stupid, but is the way it is.

Speaking of short ARs Mrs was watching some gun tuber (ofc she doesn't remember who and details) liked the gau5 the AR survival rifle with a detachable barrel?

Seems like a dope backpack gun or something.
