Well I got a gun I've been wanting for a while. I bought a CS 75. I'm probably going to go to my uncle's land tomorrow to shoot and align my sights. It's used so it should be broken in. It's completely blued steel, no polymer. It feels good to handle, I like the weight and how balanced it feels. It's a full sized barrel.
What is a full sized barrel

Hello gun people, I have a special request/ am asking for help.

I'm at a point in life where I want a firearm for self-protection in my own home. Budget <2k, Idk how much guns and the associated stuff costs. The twist is that I'm pretty blind and so I want the most retard-proof gun that exists, with the most retard-proof and clearly distinguished controls. And if there's some special gizmo that makes it easier to see down the scope, I want the best one they make within budget. I have no clue what vision gizmos exist. I don't need ones for mega sniper tricks or whatever. I want one that will be helpful if someone is shooting at me from across my yard. I have basically no useful night vision so idk what even exists for that in terms of firearms. A big flashlight thing. Maybe not even one attatched to the gun?

I don't want to disclose my state so don't worry about that side of things. It's perfectly legal for me to have a gun and if anyone thinks that's fishy, I'm actually still legal to drive in my state, too, although I don't.

My only experience with firearms is the M16, I've never even held a handgun. So I figure an AR rifle of some kind is best (?) but I have no clue what's out there, I'm not a firearm person at all. I have no intention to EDC or conceal carry. I don't want anything finicky or confusing to upkeep. I fucking hated cleaning rifles and that was BEFORE I went blind. Rifle in a safe in the bedroom is the idea. Tell me if any part of this is retarded and plz tell me what firearm I'm looking for.

What is a full sized barrel

Full size as in not compact. I know there are plenty of CZ clones that come in compact versions that have a shorter barrels. I wasn't entirely sure if the CZ 75 offered a compact version, I was only being specific. Sorry I'm not the most knowledgeable when it comes to specs. Just how to shoot, clean, and keep them maintained. Because it's in text and I don't have the full context I can't tell if you're being a faggot elitist shithead or if you wanted more specification. My bad if you were wanting more specifics.

BCM carbine with PMAGs and M193. buy a surefire scout light with vertical grip and pressure sensor for the rail, and if you can determine if an Eotech or Aimpoint is right for you.

work with what you know so there isn't any guesswork, it should feel familiar and you should have enough knowledge to do your own maintenance or troubleshooting as well as practice regularly with something affordable and that has a sizeable parts aftermarket.

this setup mention might be getting closer to $3k depending on various features. very good optics and light is $700+ new, and a BCM carbine might be $2k depending on exact configuration and where you live. for the easiest retard-proof experience, rely and pay for a fully assembled rifle for a manufacturer's warranty. options other than BCM include Colt, Bushmaster (yes, the new ones are pretty decent), or maybe FN. LMT, DD, might be stretching your budget a little too much and it doesn't sound like you want to be your own armorer or tinker with things. another option is buying a used rifle from a trusted local friend that you can be certain isn't selling you crap.

Rifle in a safe in the bedroom is the idea.
how many layers of separation do you want between you and a rifle when you absolutely need one to defend your home/life?

Heck yeah, bro! I love those pistols. If you ever want to upgrade some/all of it, Cajun Gun Works and CZ Custom both make great parts and have excellent customer service. ANR Design makes excellent kydex holsters for just about any CZ. I hope it serves you well.

I can also recommend buying a complete lower assembly from someone and buying a sale/blem upper from BCM. It can save a few hundred dollars over buying a complete new rifle. Used is also a good route, as Club-a-Dub pointed out previously.

Any of y'all here ever see a judge marked 454 that isn't specifically a raging judge? Not specifically my gun, just one that my buddy sent me a picture of. image000002(2).jpg image000001(2).jpg

the key difference between the raging judge and judge magnum is the frame and cylinder. very early raging judge models (as in dealer samples) had the raging bull frame/cylinder with a normal judge barrel but that changed for production after a few months. you sometimes find the early barrels on normal judges, but unless you have the heavier raging bull frame and cylinder (which have two latches, not just one), it is not safe to fire .454 Casull (and probably unlikely to more than once).

in most revolvers, the pressure is borne by the cylinder (which is functionally equivalent to the chamber of a convention rifle barrel) and forcing cone. the barrel itself experiences moderate pressure unless there is a bore obstruction.

I'm not meaning to be overly pedantic but it depends on how much he shoots. If he's only running his rifle once in a while it's simply not worth the upfront costs. Also, reloading is not a time-friendly endeavor. Finally, he may not be enough of an autist to really enjoy reloading. He doesn't need to be all Primal Rights about it, but you get what I'm saying
I'll admit because indoor ranges just can't handle 300 win mag, it doesn't come out much. Me buying a box or two a year is actually significant in terms of my hoard and usage.

In terms of raw economics right now, I'd say it's cheaper to buy a box or two and be done with it. I'm still going to complain about the cost of those Boxes though. Even if I think they're worth it because I've used and tested the ammo.

Federal btw has made some crazy fucking loads for 300 win mag. They may not be as perfect as handload quality, but it's close. Their 200 grain Terminal Ascent feels and sounds like firing off a lightning bolt. You WILL kill a bear/elk/moose/anything with it.

Thanks for the info, if I get any work on it, I want a threaded barrel for a suppressor. I picked up regular hornady back for home defense, and then I also found subsonic hornady black. I think it'd be pretty cool to fire that off with a suppressor.

I’m in a dilemma, the gun club website won’t give me a gate code and yet one of the ten Fudd commandments is never ask for a gate code. Do I dare leave a phone call and risk the chance of being brought before the tribunal of Fudds?

Also I have a 1:7 twist, I bought m885 that I’ll use to zero but I’m not sure I want to use m193 unless if I’m plinking, will a lower pressure hurt my twist? I’ve heard good things about smk 77, it’s hard to find and double the price of green tip.

I’m strongly considering buying a 20 pack of 75 grain hornady I can use to check my grouping after sight in zero on m885.

Welcome to the world of the CZ winners. Enjoy your bulletproof gun, much greater recoil control, and ease of accuracy and shooting. Enjoy the seethe from people who are upset that you have the greatest firearm design of all time.

Shooting 55gr won't damage the barrel (I assume that's what you mean by "hurt my twist") - it may group a little looser with M193 than it would with 77s but that's it. Pretty much all my ARs are 1:7 and they run 55gr just fine.

Rifle in a safe in the bedroom is the idea
Very bad idea. If you're buying it for home protection, turn off all the lights. Set an alarm on your phone for 3:27 AM. Fall asleep on your couch.
When the alarm wakes you up, pretend you have exactly 15 seconds to get to, unlock, and ready your rifle.
If you have reasons, kids, shitty roomates, etc...maybe leave the rifle out and hide the mags away, but close by.
The gun safe is for guns you don't want stolen, and guns you bring to the range you don't need to leave out.

The underside of the bed you sleep on, or the nightstand next to you is where the gun you plan on defending your life with goes.
Wife and I both have our carry pistols on the nightstands on our sides, and our rifles slung on the headboard on either sides. Everything else is in the safe.

Also, consider training with a pistol and picking one up. 99% of the time, the pistol will be on you or near you, and you don't have to rely on getting home to have a firearm when you need it.

I love the design, it's simple but very reliable. I had a Jericho 941, which is an IWI CZ clone. But it was bulky and it was polymer frame, and it didn't have a full length barrel. I found the CZ 75 in a local pawn shop. I did a trade plus an extra $130. I'm ready to start putting rounds through it. I'll probably do it today. The weather is nice.

Unfortunately, safe storage laws mean that you have to store them in a safe in several states.

This is a gun grabber lobby but the list speaks for it self (Archive). They range from any time not in your immediate control (CA), to when a child is likely to gain access (MN), to after someone gains access and does something (TX).

Imagine giving a fuck about safe storage laws. Lucky me I live in a state that respects your rights but I'm not going to endanger myself to comply with a law like that.

Oh I am very familiar with the Jericho. It's my favorite gun on the planet. The finest culmination of firearms design. But only the Pre-IWI, full size, full steel versions. That was a good trade.

I live in an exceedingly free state, so I forget that other states have retard laws. All that to say, you're already committing a crime in their eyes to own it and use it for self defense, might as well go whole hog so you at least survive to appear in the trial.

I'm just saying that might be an issue if you constantly get swatted like fatrick.
Plus most of those states have mag bans and other shit anyways. And the ones that don't tend to be a tack on charge for when you kid shoots up a school after stealing your gun (after a child has gained access).

Is it really that ridiculous for them to charge the parents in that case though? I've never really seen a case where the parents are totally innocent. I'm not going to LARP that I'm a parent but I feel like if it gets to that point, you done fucked up pretty bad and can reasonably be held accountable.
