Mini's come disgustingly over gassed for no good fucking reason, retorquing the gas block to (if I remember correctly) 35 ftlbs helps accuracy. The trigger is fine out of the box but the rear sight is dogshit. For as much as the base rifle costs expect to sink another $200 or so to make it shootable to a modern standard. No idea why Ruger continues to fuck up what should be a fun tiny M1 Garand. Also the Muzzlelite bullpup kits fucking suck, buy one for the meme but don't pretend it will be anything more.

thanks for the gas bushing tip I actually didn't know that and I assure you another 700 is going into this rifle for optics and light alone so I have no problem putting money into it

No problem. I did a lot of research on these guns before I bought mine. It's a current production Ranch Rifle, 585 series. It's fun, I like the tiny Garand action it has. Like an alternative reality where the Garand/M14 was adapted into a SCHV cartridge in the late 50's. I used the .040 inch bushing and have good reliability, winter time needs higher pressure 5.56 to cycle well but in the summer the difference is night and day. Another thing to consider is installing a 1911 buffer on the rearmost end of the operating rod's recoil assembly. Keeps the rifle from slamming into itself as hard, even with the reduced gas pressure. I experimented with having another buffer on the foremost end but ended up with the rifle unlocking prematurely and invoking more reliability issues. Cogburn Arsenal makes some neat aftermarket parts, like stripper clip guides and bayonet lugs. A lot of people shit on the Mini, and the older ones were crap, but I like the history of knowing these neat little things were used in Rhodesia and Ireland, and it's kind of neat having a tiny Garand that shoots affordable effective ammunition. I just like em bros.
 

Seems the cut for the release is designed poorly and can cause the magazine to just fall out with default Glock mag releases. It's not just Ben but also others doing tests like Police departments are having issues with bad feeding. Some think having a metal mag release would fix it.

Thats always been a thing for metal glock mags. This isnt new. I know these mags are new but it was the same way with Shield mags.

Magpul Glock mags suck, Mecgar Glock mags suck, the South Korean Glock mags suck, ProMag Glock mags suck, etc. etc. etc.
OEM Glock magazines do not fail and it bothers me that people are trying their hardest to avoid them.
 
I've got a buddy who has recently been bit by the Mini-14 bug. He's got one in 5.56mm and he's planning on doing a second one built up to basically be an 80s style KAC-556k with the wood folding stock and everything, but in .300blk with a sound suppressor and modern red dot. He's an odd duck with odd tastes in firearms (though I share some of those same tastes, such as vintage S&W N Frames and M14s), but he's my bro and a good guy.

Since Glocks are so popular they are also owned by retarded people. Somebody I know is still fairly new to guns. One day he decides he wants a heavy handgun, I know it's because he simply can't shoot as well as he wants to and just never listens to my advice. The one time I was with him shooting he shot better because I was instructing him. Very big ego. He thinks it'll help him shoot better. Sure whatever. I guide him and again don't get listened to. He abruptly says all metal handguns are junk and buys a Glock. I'm confused. He then proceeds to "make it as heavy as possible" and creates an abomination. He literally got a Amazon flashlight and hollowed it out to fill it with some weight putty or something . I guarantee he will eventually buy all metal magazines to continue with this trend.

The other week I handed him my 92 and he was like "WOOOW THIS IS SO HEAVY. THIS IS A NICE GUN. AND IT'S ALL METAL?"

I admit I was disappointed when I saw Ben's video. Figured if anyone could do it Mec-Gar could. Don't actually carry any of my Glocks so they were never gonna be a huge deal for me anyway, I guess.

I mean, the KCI magazines are fine....

If you tear them apart, clean all the plastic flash from the mag bodies, and then replace the mag spring with a Wolff Extra power spring...

I mean, they're literally Korean knock-offs of the Glock Mag, so they're the "least terrible" of the bunch, imho. Cheap way to get a handful of +2 floor plate extensions at least if you only buy them for parts.

Msgpul Glock mags seem to be ok enough and the S. Korean stendos are amazing

Yeah it's just a barrel and mag swap. I hope to get a 380 barrel and mag for my 32 sometime. I love they're bringing back the 80 series. I hope it does well. I am sort of surprised that they're making a 32 version as well because it's kind of dead round. 380 with modern defensive ammo is really still pretty good, but 32 really doesn't have anything that I would consider worth carrying. In fact, you usually want to carry full metal jackets because it gives you that extra penetration which you need. But the 32 80s are really fun. They have like zero recoil. It's a nice hefty gun despite being small so that counts for something

I think its a reflexive action at this point. So many automatic pistols have mags that, from the manufacturer, are priced too high in comparison to cheaper mags that are actually just as good. MecGar for example. often MecGar is the OEM supplier anyway (S&W, SiG, Ruger, Colt, CZ, Walther, Beretta, Taurus to name a few) and the manufacturer slaps a premium on the mags with their name stamped on it. so the response of "just but MecGar" is automatic. and right more often than not.

CZ mag prices are particularly insane despite their only notable trait being "it fits in a CZ".
