I stumbled upon the YouTube channel of Tim Sundles, the big game hunter that runs Buffalo Bore, and he's got a great video on internet ballisticians in regards to testing mediums.
I'd say with all the experience he has he's got a decent perspective on performance, for reference he domed a charging Cape Buffalo last month.
TL;DW: Caliber choice should not depend on shooting steel or birch. Ballistics gelatin is a close testing medium to flesh but you should either practice and use it yourself or get information from someone who has actually used it.

yes, a 18" LE barrel with folding stock through FIE bought in the mid-90's, although i do not have the rare AR-15 style stock or the shot diverter sadly. i use delrin buffers to keep it in shooting order since those are easy to get. i do not have the desirable SPAS-15 though

It's probably going to be a huge flop like the Turkish Alofs and lever action 12 gauge imports. The right idea is to cannibalize it for the furniture and use the stripped blaster for reloading experiments.

Turkish shotguns can be great or total SHIT with almost zero in between, just like Turkish pistols.
Anyway.... I'll probably get one for a meme gun as long as I see a review that says "won't explode and kill you"

I find the progression in small arms for anti-drone purposes fascinating, especially how fast it's moving:
I want to know how well the 3D printed sabots actually hold together. At least so far most of the shotgun 3D printed projectiles & sabots I've seen simply shatter upon firing, although for this use case I suppose they don't really need to do much except hold the shot in line until leaving the barrel.

That said a possible even BETTER anti drone weapon would be micro missiles.
Take a RPG-7 launch tube, make a small maneuvering fire and forget missile to fit in it, clip on a sight that can feed the missile targeting data and viola, you get an Omni launcher than can fire HE, HEAT, and Anti drone missiles easily.
Remember, an anti drone missile can be smaller than a HEAT warhead and only needs to have a 1-2km range and 2-3km of altitude. Seeker could be EO or maybe a really simple radar guidance system. 1-2kg HE frag warhead and a proximity/impact fused system and you're set.
Estonia is already developing a small 50cm long "micro missile" exclusively for anti drone use.
For bigger or further away threats a Stinger class MANPADS or a APKWS system is fine.
The era is smaller Anti air / anti drone missiles with large magazine depths are rapidly approaching

For a drone that is entirely stationary, this may work, but for specialized FPV drones that can go >100 km/h these are effectively useless. You can't hear it and you can't see it until it's already in proximity to you.
And this is only in relationship to consumer quadcopters. Actual UCAVs like the Bayraktar TB2 or LANCET you need something to the effect of a C-RAM and proper air defense system to get them out of the sky.
There is really only one defense to quadcopters and that is jamming the video transmit (VTX) and link between the drone and the operator, if they are radio enabled. Because these drones are consumer drones using consumer hardware, there is a set frequency range of where they operate. While it's possible to have spread spectrum radio modules the cost / availability of these is not quite there to the extent of something like a out of the box like a DJI is yet.
The issue with jammers is a they are a radio that transmits continuously. You may as well be sending out a beacon saying "I'm here, look at me" to your adversary. And when your adversary has MLRS and artillery that's not a good thing. Russia has extensively used EW batteries for fire direction. And any modern military also has this capability.
I think the only solution to quadcopters is some type of laser system. But whatever the solution is - it has to somehow be cheaper than the UCAV or quadcopter itself. I hope we do see one though because this has to be the most cowardly way to conduct warfare possibly ever.

If it's just regular 3D printing material, then they break pretty easily. There is a YouTube channel called Taofladermaus that tests exotic shotgun projectiles, often made by viewers to see what works and what doesn't, and quite a few have sent in their own designs using custom 3D printed sabots to fit the projectile they designs, and even in the low pressures and velocities of a 12ga shotgun they would shatter under the g-shock. So if these are going to work they need to be a much stronger material than your usual 3D printing material.

Yeah. That's why "if they are radio enabled" is in italics there. And radio jamming is not an effective countermeasure for the reason listed above.
I can't imagine that countermeasures won't be developed for this soon, though.

Better than nothing but one big con is going to be needing to unload and reload with a mag of the anti drone stuff while in the middle of an assault or firefight if a drone is spotted.
IMO at the end of the day squads are going to have to go to 4 to 5 men with the new guy being a dedicated anti drone guy carrying a specific anti drone weapon/platform.

Anything the size of a TB2 is SAM bait vs a competent SAM umbrella is dead meat. The only reason it stomped on Armenia is because Armenia has essentially zero medium and high altitude SAM systems.
The Lancet is basically a super FPV drone (aka loitering munition) and can be intercepted or shot down.
The really REALLY fast FPV drones carry tiny warheads or no warheads and are essentially propeller and battery powered mini SAMs. They're being used to physically intercept FPVs and larger quad/hex/octocoper drones and Shahed/Lancet type loitering munitions
Anyway, as for guns, y'all pray for me.... Bidding against a probable boomer on a CZ SP-01 on Gunjoker.... It's ALMOST at my personal "no go" price buuuttt it ends late at night and hopefully Mr. Fudd is an early sleeper

That's a photoshop. That's their shitty teaser/concept art with their dime-a-dozen POS semi-auto receiver pasted onto an actual SPAS-12. Which doesn't make sense because
They have the heatshield and pump on this one, and it's actually real.

For the most part all FPV/quadcopter drone countermeasures are already out there, but they are not in widespread enough production or use to fully invalidate them. ECM systems are probably the most easiest and those we see rather often, but for kinetic systems, that is where we are lacking the actual applications.
Wire-guided FPVs are bit more tricky as they laugh at ECMs. Sure the latest set of Trophy can detect and engage targets above it, not just from the sides, but that is awfully expensive and can be swarmed. Lasers and microwave frying gimmicks are not fully there either. Thankfully the Perfidious Albion yet again had the right idea back in 80s. I saw a video long time ago of them trialing a radar guided FN MAG RWS to be used against ATGMs on iirc Chieftain tank. Probably didnt work against missiles, but drones maybe? That is a way more cheaper option than a Trophy/equivalent and can stop wire-guided FPVs.
