I'm building out a tax stamped sbr ar15 and was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on this https://www.primaryarms.com/daniel-...ed-upper-receiver-11-5-primary-arms-exclusive ? I had been planning to build it from scratch but I like the look of this and dd is a well known name. I have all the tools to do it myself but it doesnt seem like I'll even save much money by buying the individual pieces. I guess I'm curious if people think this is overkill/ridiculously expensive/worth it? Fwiw my goal with this build is a service/home defense gun.

Also side question- I'm planning to put one of the jp silent capture buffers into my lower for this - anyone have a specific recommendation for a buffer tube that will just work with them? I've got another jp that works fine with the totally random buffer tube I used it in but was hoping to find one that didn't need the stupid spacer thing.

Thanks.

Thats about what you will pay for the big name premium uppers.

If you're finding yourself needing to use the JPE spacer (I'm assuming you're talking about the little c-shaped washer thing and not the rifle tube spacer here), just loosen the castle nut/slide the endplate back, thread the tube in another turn and lock it back down and re-stake (assuming it fits now, of course). It's not like you'll worry about covering too much of the buffer retainer pocket since there's no need to use the retainer with the JPE setup.

Also, I agree with @Legato - that seems like a pretty standard price for a premium upper, even if I vastly prefer building my own.

Sorry little lazy and quotes being fussy. Royal Tiger, I knew what I was getting into and I'm fine with it. Just make sure to be upfront (they aren't).

Newest forgotten weapons as always kicked ass, I really liked this one. Super neat. I knew of the carbine but this..... thing.. was cool.

Now guys and gals. I'm pretty stable cash wise, I just don't like spending too much. So Mrs. Basso knows how to shoot she's actually a pretty good shotgun user (even 12g) because her and her dad. As you mostly know I'm into mil surp and history. Sarco is close by and I'm thinking they have a few 100/150 range weird old single shots. 22. lr at that. Bolt action singles. Well I love history, that was little johhnys first gun. a 22 is still useful, cheap to shoot.. like... for her to practice on cans and me have the old history "kid" or "camp" guns... shouldn't I?

I've got room in my safe. It won't hurt my wallet. What do you think get my self/mrs a husqvarna 22 just to have? Or tuck it away and start saving for something very niche for my real passion of mil surp.

Basically I'm asking you to support my pooping a c note but, I mean it's a very simple gun, are there some bad old single shot 22? I can't see much to go wrong but you never know...

I was messing with a GI issue ww2 1911 with the original style of irons and people kept bitching online they suck and I think they're spoiled or blaming the gun for their inability to shoot. The sights are actually fine. Especially for the time. They are smaller, but nowhere near how small other handguns could be in that era. They only taught sight usage for longer ranges and having a big front sight makes it harder with a handgun in my experience shooting 25+ yards. Covers the whole person

I almost wonder if it's a meme in that it's been repeated so much people just assume they're terrible and let that override their performance without approaching it with a clear mind. It's shockingly difficult to shoot a 1911 poorly with how good the trigger is.
But then not many people these days have grown up adapting to poor sight pictures to know what "good" actually is.

"You can't even see out of a Camaro!"
Sonny, I just feel the road. Just like with my 1911 (two world wars) I just point and feel the 230 grains right to the target. My groups being large are purposeful. In the Air National Guard ('78-'79) they teach you to shoot large, more damage that way.

Short rant, but I HATE gun broker sellers. All of them. From pawnshops, to gun shops, to private sellers, to bubbas, to boomers, to zoomers.

Every single one of them is a worthless piece of garbage seller, with no good customer service, no good pricing, absurdly over charged shipping, too few pictures all of which are terrible quality and show nothing, descriptions that tell you absolutely nothing, and all with a dedication to just speculation on their prices.

I sell on ebay. Ive sold 450 items, and have 100% positive feedback. If I sold the way these sellers on gunbroker sell, each of those figures would be halved.
Its literally not even that hard
The way to beat out 90% of GB sellers:

Take more than 15 pictures
Take pictures of markings and the bore
Take pictures of any defects

Describe the bore condition
Describe any and all defects
Describe caliber
Describe size and dimensions
Describe serial and model number
Describe headspace (yes, if you're selling in any volume, you should have headspace guages on tap to check)
Etc

Charge reasonable shipping fees
Have CC payment
Etc

It doesn’t help that the meme of sights I’ve seen is “only large front sight because you need to pick it up under stress”. Doing some USPSA shooting there’s been times I just don’t notice the sights and go off feel knowing my grip and alignment are good enough. There was nothing worse than my first match taking my carry gun with large front sight because I believed the meme and having to hit pistol plates at 30-40 yards and couldn’t even tell where I was aiming because the front sights obscured everything.

Yeah I have a big front dot on my one carry and did some 25+ yard shooting with it and it covered the whole target. I scored pretty well, 2nd best, but man up close defensive sights are ass for even 25 yards.

I took a stabo at updating this; I'll probably just up the prices $50 on everything post Biden.
I could use one more 9mm and 45 ACP under $550 retail.
If anyone knows anything about optic, chime in, cause I don't.
I'll probably rewrite my screed against Gucci guntubers to be less 🧩 unhinged.
I could use any additional guides, tips, site recommends, and meme that are funny unlike K

I'm certain this right here is an illegal SBR conversion that will land you 10 years in prison. Don't do this.
