Mega Rad Gun Thread

Franklin Armory has apparently reached a Settlement with the DOJ saying that firearms that many would consider SBR's actually aren't SBR's as long as they're also """designed""" to fire multiple projectiles at one time in addition to conventional projectiles they're simply a GCA Firearm and transfer on a 4473 instead of a Form 4

Some of the language they're using implies this only applies to them(?) Because they repeatedly reiterate their willingness to license "Antithesis"

For Legal "compliance" Franklin is offering these little 10 packs of 5.56 snakeshot

Did the guys behind stupid fucking football bullets and a $2600 Smoothbore 5.56 eviscerate the NFA?

Perhaps I was too harsh on you, Franklin Armory and your stupid football bullets

Haha, WTF is a "football bullet"?

I TOLD YOU ITS NERF OR NOTHIN' AND I MEANT IT

There's no way that this makes any economical and logistical sense but I like wacky new shit and if it puts more cracks in the NFA then good for them!

They’re also the inventors of the binary trigger and that smoothbore gun was another NFA compliance gun. They’ve always been trying to find loopholes in the NFA.

Ok info was all over the place so it wasn't super clear to me what was going on.

The Reformation is the weird straight rifled gun with the goofy nerf bullets that CANT shoot .410?

The Antithesis is a normal rifled gun that's designed to shoot their goofy rat shot payload for 223/556 cartridges but also normal rifle rounds and also .410 and .45 long colt.

Beretta is having a rebate and I'm thinking of getting a m9, I've also been thinking of getting some Radetec ammo counters. It would be more for fun and the fact it would become unobtanium someday digital-counter-mix-grande.webprisc-glock-reducida-300x300-1.webp

The last one is 1k, I might sell some of my surp to buy it. I know it's retarded but I think it looks awesome

PMR30.webp

I know KelTec doesn't have the best reputation but this PMR30 might be my favorite pistol to shoot. Had it for 8 plus years at this point. Gotta have over 5000 rounds through it easy and while I never kept track I don't think it failed more then a few tines. Since tax stamps are free was thinking of getting a CMR30, cutting the barrel down to 10 inch and getting a suppresser for it. Can anyone here recommend a 22 suppresser? Was thinking of a Banish 22. Got a question for the NFA stamps, the suppresser stamp is for the suppresser itself or the gun i'm putting it? I got a few 22 (both LR and WMR). Can I toss the can on anything I got once I got it without getting my dog shot from the ATF?

Thinking down the road I want to get into some sort of short barrel 300blk. I did crack off 556 in my kitchen out through the back door and yeah, I knew it was going to be loud but holy shit my ear rang for a week. a 300blk running subs sound much better to keep for my bump in the night gun

Suppressor stamps are for the suppressor themselves
You can swap them between any host gun you want as long as the projectile will fit down the bore and or the suppressor is rated for the firing pressure of a given configuration (don't put an aluminum .22lr suppressor on a 10.3 5.56, or any 5.56 for that matter)

Stamps aren't free until 12:01AM on Jan 1st, 2026.

Check pewscience (and other independent reviewers) to determine where your budget and desired performance intersect (Jay's data isn't perfect due to the rigidness of testing platforms but you can make inferences)

Yo WTF! Please elaborate.
AR15.webp

Wife and kids were out and I was larping real HARD, had my chest rig on with my flannel and blue jeans. Was sweeping my house, ya know to make sure the FEMA troops weren't hiding somewhere. Get to my kitchen that has a door to go to my backyard. I have a sliding door and it was open with only the screen closed. I see this groundhog that not only myself but a bunch of people been trying to trap for a few summers now since he fucks up all our gardens and digs up our yards. Now was my time. So I lined up and ripped off a round right through my screen. My ears rung for a fucking week. Also, I don't live in a rural area, I'm in the burbs. In no way was it appropriate for me to shoot in the area. Sat around in my living room waiting for the cops to come, they never did. I figure if they did come i'd say my bike back fired or something.

Yeah, I know it's for the new year but I see places offering that if you buy now they do the paper work and mail it out on the 1st. I'm not really sure how that works and who does what paper work. But yeah, i'd only use it on my 22 rimfire stuff.

Wow thats crazier than what I imagined. You got lucky, probably because one shot and you used your house as a silencer.

So why can't anyone else "redesign" their current production rifles to fire multiple projectiles? No way a "we alone get to do this" clause would hold up in court.

Based on their language Franklin is at least heavily implying that they specifically are the only ones allowed to do this (at least at the moment), BUT, they say they are willing to license the "technology" (which, I assume because they're the ones who made it, the agreement allows?) To other companies
No way a "we alone get to do this" clause would hold up in court.
Refer to the Rarebreed Settlement (Rarebreed has a (probably invalid) patent though, more on that in a minute)

Honestly couldn't give you the specifics, presumably the agreement between Franklin and DOJ? As far as I can tell Franklin isn't claiming to have a patent or anything but I think might have copyright Over "Antithesis" (but I'm 99% sure that isn't what allows them to license anything, because you can't have a copyright that infers nonexistent mechanical properties can you? Like you can't have a copyright that gives/allows a branded item to have special attributes beyond the literal branding itself can you?)

So how can Franklin "license" a "technology" that as far as an can tell doesn't have any legal foundation or specific claims regarding it, you can't license an idea of "designing" a gun to fire different types of ammunition when the gun is mechanically identical to literally any other gun as far as we know, they could patent theoretical ammunition but that's not what they're doing or claiming, so is the DOJ saying, "You, and only you, Franklin Armory have the sole ability to manufacture and sell these firearms not because of any patent but because we, the court, said so"

Did DOJ invent an entirely new form of intellectual property and grant it (so far) only to Franklin Arsenal?

I'm retarded and don't know how to insert pdf's so if my attempt fails literally just Google "Franklin Armory Antithesis ATF" and click on the ATF.gov link

Congratulations, I have no idea what the fuck that even means (other than that they can still sell it apparently without going through a bunch of deranged bureaucracy). It appears it legally fits the restrictive category where they have to file a bunch of bullshit pursuant to the NFA but they settled to change reality so it doesn't.

Good for Franklin but if they're the only ones who can do this because they cut a deal it seems pretty unfair to everyone else.

Firearms laws very rarely make sense, much like Internet laws, because they are written by morons who have no knowledge of what they're regulating, so both the laws and the regulations the ATF (the dumbest federal law enforcement agency) enforces generally make zero sense.

That new lever delayed pistol is really rad. Lever delay is pretty uncommon, especially in pistols. The experimental Mauser 06/08, which was intended to be the successor to the world famous C96 Broomhandle, had a similar layout to the C96, but came standard with removable box magazines (but in the same place as the Broomhandle), fired a much more powerful 9mm cartridge, and had a lever delayed operating system. There are about 90 examples of the 06/08 in circulation, and perhaps 125-150 total units that were made before Mauser decided not to put it into production.

Wait... Correct me if I am wrong but would duplex ammo apply to a firearm like this?
Would a hypothetical short barreled Colt ACR manufactured for duplex ammo comply with this ruling? Would 9mm made for ratshot allow for a pistol-like firearm with a stock?
