It really depends on your buying habits. You're absolutely correct that you aren't going to find many C&R guns now that are a good value in terms of pure price for performance. So if you weren't going to buy C&R guns anyway, having free transfers to your door doesn't do much for you.

If you were already going to buy these guns however, I think that the saved money on FFL transfers easily makes up for the minimal hassle. The $100 crates of Mosins may be gone, but if you like collecting stuff because it's neat there are still plenty of affordable, if no longer dirt-cheap, milsurp guns around. The 50-year time span also means that plenty of Cold War guns are now considered C&R. The current Rock Island auction includes a C&R AR-180 for example. Someone who's interested in that kind of thing can get plenty of value from a C&R license.
A lot of those cold war guns are FA so we won't get them.
Heavy sanctions will prevent importation of lots of handguns.
Don't get me wrong, if you want one get it.
They just aren't as useful as they used to be.

Yep. Iirc no one runs 5.56mm ARs with barrels under ~10.5/11 inches.

Just Hollywood, Niggers, and Hollywoood=Niggers (rap "artists"). Oh and DPMS. I'm gonna vomit of if see another Draco clone on YT bodycam videos.
with what projectile? at 1000FPS or less your projectiles either need to be a premium ballistic-tip type bullet or a very soft soft point because at that low velocity you are relying on expansion only for damage. I'd also want a round nose or flat point as well to increase effect on target. Most .30 cal projectiles are just going to be too tough and icepick right on through the target unless they hit a major bone like the pelvis or femur. even the "anemic" .30-30 gets ~2400FPS. and of course, the fancy copper rounds rely on velocity to achieve expansion because they are tough by design.

this whole conundrum is why .300 black never interested me, because if you need supers for assured performance, why bother with .300 to begin with? if your not breaking the sound barrier the best thing to have is a projectile with as big of a diameter as you can because hydro static and hydraulic shock are not a factor at those velocities. A ~10 inch .500 S&W lever gun (or single shot) has always appealed to me, but I don't care to go through the SBR process on a gun i'm not building at home.

3 second answer: I want to hear whats going on around me after I shoot.

5 Second answer: Buy the fucking premo self defense ammo with the fancy low velocity expansion. I'm assuming you've got Winchester JHP's or similar if you ever carry, am I right?

10 second answer: For hundreds of years the anecdotal science has said the fatter the lead the more likely you are you kill what you hit. Battle of Mogadishu 1993, most of us know as "Black Hawk Down" the 5.56 FMJs slipped right through the "skinnies" never got a chance to tumble. Brass response: "Colonel, how fuckin' big you figure think we can fit a bullet in the stanags?"

IMO a C&R almost isn't worth it anymore.
We're probably done with the days of cheap abundant surplus.
Most venders won't give you a discount anymore.
Just seems more trouble than it's worth these days.
You know C&R isn’t just for miler right? It’s ANY gun over 50 years old. That’s everything pre 1976. Revolvers, old ARs, shotguns, lever guns, bolt guns etc.

And some of those guns are very cheap.

(Figured this would be the best place to post this to get the word out)
Dugan Ashley (or now Jordan Derrick) known as the host and major figure of CarniK Con, was arrested on May 12th under multiple charges pertaining to manufacturing and sharing knowledge of how to manufacture explosives.

Sad to see, although I'm not too surprised that they wanted to take him down, due to his Youtube channel where he shared a lot of energetics knowledge and perhaps due to, what some might consider, "unacceptable" view points.

Ahahahah lol. Expected outcome for him, he was always a fucking retard in regards to NFA shit and explosives.

Enjoy the felony Dugan (also did he troon out? TF did he change his weird name?)

Edit, adding to this, of you want to sperging out about "muh satanic feds" and the like, maybe DON'T run a YouTube channel where you fuck around with machine guns and explosives.

If you want to do that on camera, keep your Fed poasting anonymous (like on the wonderful website KiwiFarms TM) and behave on camera like the lovable, nonthreatening people behind Demolition Ranch and Kentucky Ballistics. Meanwhile Dugan looked like a crackhead/meth head crossed with a rapist glasses wearing sex offender..... Not a great look tbh.
Pro Tip: If you're gonna be doing super secret squirrel cool guy stuff, you should probably hold off on large, easily identifiable tattoos such as arm sleaves and on the neck.
Sorry didn't make the rules, you gotta have loud, obnoxious and extremely identifiable tattoos to be in SF these days. Oh and a operater beard, DV allegations and multiple DUIs/DWIs and insane Credit card debt. Oh and possibly painkiller and steroid addiction.
Good news! the ATF is making changes to the form 4473. under new rules any dealer in your state will be able to ship any gun to your door after you fill out the 4473 online or over the phone.

I'm never going to financially recover from this. I don't have to drive 50 miles to the LGS anymore!
But I LIKE going to my FFLs house 5 miles down the road and playing with his animals and looking at his 40k figures...

If the blast wasn't egregious I would love to run a Kitty Kat. But I'm already too retarded for my own good so I'll stick with running a 20" musket.

My Geissele 10” with an ACOG and a piggyback ACRO is my “go to war” setup. If I leave my property line it gets a HUXWRX 556K slapped onto it however. If I need more range then that it’s time for me to fall back and keep a super low profile.

You're not entirely wrong, but you ARE a faggot.

i special order 22 online because the only shit worth shooting is CCI and nobody ever has it in stock at reasonable prices. winchester and remington 22 is no better than the jars of magtech 22 covered in dirty grease that you can get for 5 cents per round and the last ~3 boxes of high end shit in the jewel casing that cost over 10 cents per round had 3 duds in them per box of 100. I usually expect like.. one out of 300 rounds with CCI. It's fucking absurd. And the remington stuff is just as bad for reliability AND it's crimped so poorly that you can spin the bullets around in the casing, which means it will jam up my kel tec

the 22lr i bought last week got refunded and the only thing they have in stores is the aforementioned dogshit ammo i refuse to buy, i think the 22 market is kind of thin right now

For shooting .22lr suppressed, I've mostly been shooting Winchester Super Suppressed, particularly in my Franklin Armory F22. It's been good to go so far for me. Sounds great with my Surefire Ryder 22-S, and cycles in semi-auto and binary rapid fire. I've put a couple hundred rounds through the F22 suppressed and my Browning Buckmark suppressed and haven't had any issues with it. And you can get it in 350rnd bricks. The bullets themselves are black copper plated, so they're a lot cleaner than your typical all-lead bullets, and they're a basic round nose, so they feed reliably. Perfect for target practice. They're running about 900-1000fps out of the 9" barrel on my F22. I've currently got 450rnds of the Winchester Super Suppressed, 50rnds of CCi Suppressor 45gr hollow points, and 200rnds of CCi Quiet-22 40gr segmented hollow points for subsonic .22lr.

I was recently made aware that there was at least one example of a German MG-131 13mm machinegun converted for infantry use, The MG-131E. The 13mm cartridges it fired among other loadings could fire 524gr bullets with about 2 grams of HE per round (For context, German B-patrone 8mm had 0.3G, which we know in theory can put fist sized holes in people) of HE at 2460fps out of a 22in barrel, with free recoil about as stout as a an M1 Garand. The Aircraft model weighed 37lbs, I would think an infantry model would weigh 40-42lbs The Germans were in essence creating a full auto belt fed Safari rifle firing high explosive bullets

This either a German MG-131E or a post war Soviet Experimental modification

Infantry Conversion DShK
1778692023854.jpeg

Ancient experimental M2 Infantry conversion, from Before WW2, came in 3 versions. Although not a true infantry conversion as It was meant to fulfill an anti tank rifle role as it is semi auto only, final version weighs 77lbs

3rd model with 45in barrel

If they we're dedicated to making an AMR/AT Rifle out of an M2 they could have tried way harder, since it's semi auto only they could have fluted the barrel and made a bajillion lightening cuts in the receiver. Probably could have gotten away with less beefy bipod legs too. Otherwise it's perfectly functional as an infantry conversion HMG

was inspired by all this discussion of AK's and by extension all Soviet and Russian firearms to do a little speculative writing about what future Russian service rifles may or may not look like.
Their is now a Fifth theoretical potential candidate for the eventual replacement of the AK-12M1, an SVCh-545, an adaptation of the SVCh-7.62
This rendering from Kalashnikov Concern was featured in a recent Article by Kalashnikov Magazine (no relation to Kalashnikov Concern) and showcases a 5.45 version of a SVCh rifle, probably based on the already shrunken version of the SVCh in 6.02mm

The Implications of MFMD Style/ "High Performance Reduced Length" (HPRL) suppressors.
I had a thought, the best thing about MFMD's is their large reduction in OAL, but what if their profile has another, largely theoretical benefit. As far as I know there has only ever been one suppressor designed for use in conjunction with a Bayonet, the Moore Silencer. Now, Bayonets in the modern world are silly, but, people who point this out also forget they are cool. There have been half hearted attempts at providing bayonet mounting capability to modern free float AR's but none have been particularly successful. In addition, every truly modern rifle needs a suppressor to be meet the standards of modernity, further complicating efforts to add a bayonet to your rifle.

This video that came up in my feed a couple days ago gave me an idea

A steel spike solidly attached to the forward pic rail or first 2-4 M-lok slots of a sturdy monolithic upper, extending 4-6 inches past the MFMD would be a great Larp toy.

Out of pure curiosity I endeavored to check at specific times the view count of a popular video detailing the installation of a Super Safety.

At 8AM on the 12th, it had 381,106 views, at midnight on the 12th, it had 381,615 views, At 8AM today, it had 381,824 and as of the time of writing it has 382,297

What does that mean? I can't say for sure between bots, random third worlders, kids getting lost in the YouTube interface, repeat viewers etc, but it does seem like there's a decent enough interest in Super Safeties to generate a not insignificant amount of views on a video that came out in July of last year

Meanwhile, CZ is taking forever releasing the Bren 3 on the NA market.
I'm not going to say never buuuttt..... It'll be a long time and CZ won't support it for shit.
The TR-4 is just an AKV-521 but only the receiver rail is monolithic and it retains the traditional right wide charging.
This is probably as good as it'll get for a mass issue Russian service rifle
Option #3: AK But Aluminum
The MoD forces KC and the two biggest manufacturers of aluminum gun parts, Zenitco and Sureshot to work together and says to them "Make us an Aluminum AK"
It would probably just resemble the old Sureshot prototypes but with the ambi safety of the AK-12M1
Waaayyyy too expensive for mass issue

Really interesting but again.... Probably more expensive than anything else and it has a SLIGHTLY different manual of arms to an normal AK

Does anyone have any experience with Remington 740/760/7600 rifles? I see them on Simpson's cheap as hell all the time, just seems like something neat to pick up when I've got the extra cash. I know .308 and .30-06 aren't the cheapest these days...
