I thought I explained it pretty well. Less barrel, more pressure needed to get it going, which means a tougher and more expensive barrel is required. If you have a better explanation, go ahead

Armad/GNB-200 plus this new PXT rifling might solve that. In addition, SOCOM can just swap barrels willy nilly. Even they have a minimum standard of 8k rounds and IIRC the M4 barrel is supposed to be replaced every 6k rounds.

Just because the M7 is a bad gun doesn't mean we can't have Super 5.56 (A guy on X calculated 3000+ fps with a 62gr projectile out of an 11.5 based on the 82k psi number)


Short gun with long gun performance = more better in military contexts even with enhanced parts wear.

I'm not sure you even know enough about what you are talking about to be worth talking to...

Less barrel is more valuable then more velocity. The holy grail is a barrel which is both short and has high velocity.

The M7 sucks for many reasons. The program itself was a huge flop asking for incredibly demanding performance hoping to somehow get it for free.

I'll believe this when I see it. I was sold the same bill with the M7. Physics doesn't change. Metallurgy really hasn't changed for decades, not by much. Kinda stupid to change a good thing they already have.

Ok 2024 join date. I have a background in welding. I've actually had to study metallurgy as part of my schooling. I've also shot guns since I was 8. I own several. You can find them if you dig in this thread far enough. Happy?

Got muh Vortex in today and threw it on fits quite well and the bolt turn gives just enough space to not touch the eyepiece, got all weekend to tinker with it get the eye relief right.

Race guns usually (generally) opt for super light weight 16"-18" builds with skinny barrels and gentle gas systems.

Combat rifles/carbines trend towards shorter with beefy gassing.

It's my first it's a HS venom 6-24 30mm tube and 50 outer lens they had a sale on Midwayusa something like 40 percent off so I pulled the trigger and quite true for the money they're solid.

Ok that's it, a 6.5mm CM Ruger Hawkeye and a .30-06 Winchester Model 70 Alaskan for my modern Mausers
