one of the best selling Game Boy Advance games and one of Nintendo's most terrifying games despite being kid friendly. Metroid Fusion

The game takes place after Metroid: Other M, and it shows that samus' genocide on the metroids back in Metrod: Samus Returns come back to haunt her. as her actions back then have given rise to a dangerous threat to the universe. The X Parasite. they have the ability to assimilate and mimic their prey (they were inspired by John Carpenter's The Thing)

During an expedition with the Galactic Federation on the Metroid's home planet, SR388, samus encounters the x parasite and infects her and she nearly dies. the GF were able to save her by creating a vaccine from metroid cells they made when they had the baby metroid back in super metroid. but then, she gets a report that the space station has been compromised by the X, so she must venture into the station and exterminate the X parasites as best she can while retrieving her power ups which were removed from her suit due to the x infecting them.

Speaking of which.... the x infected armor pieces came together and gave birth to one of the most terrifying video game characters:

SA-X

the game was well praised. i even enjoyed it. it scared the shit out of me when i played it. it was nightmare fuel.

Not counting linearity, annoyingly long cutscenes that tell you exactly where to go, bosses still being way too easy and all of that jazz, the only thing that really bothered me about Fusion was how (much like with MOTHER 3) so many things in it just felt like a blatant rehash or slight alteration of something from the previous game (technically Super, in this case). For example:

Sector 1 = Crateria (although it's technically based off of SR388} and Tourian
Sector 2 = Green Brinstar
Sector 3 = Norfair
Sector 4 Underwater Section = Maridia
Sector 5 - The Ice = Red Brinstar
Sector 6 = Wrecked Ship

Chozo-X < Torizo
Serris = Botwoon
Nettori = Torizo + Spore Spawn
Omega Metroid = Mutated Mother Brain
Neo Ridley <<< Super Ridley
Nightmare (roughly) = Draygon

Still a great game and all, but everything just feels way too familiar

Fusion is still a pretty good game. Let me preface with that.

Fusion feels like a halfway ground between Super Metroid, which is one of the all time great games, and Metroid: Other M, which is one of the all time shithole games. It takes Super and makes it way more linear, adds terrible cutscenes and dialogue, and most of all fucking Adam. Fuck Adam. Fuck Adam. A thousand times, fuck Adam Malkovich. Super makes you feel things and figure things out for yourself, but Fusion gives you cut scenes to tell you things

Oh yeah i used to play that game on an emulator, it was pretty good to be honest.

I remember this game being showed off at Walmart (back when they had systems to show off the latest games), and I was intrigued. Never managed to get Fusion legally, but I have played it on an emulator, and completely beat the game. Now I hope Fusion gets a remake ala AM2R/Samus Returns.

I remember this game when I was younger because I literally was trying to find another Samus game that I could play on GBA, and I was too stupid to realize that Super Metroid is actually on the SNES at the time. I still enjoyed this game immensely however from just shooting shit down and figuring out puzzles. Didn't get to finished it sadly.

Gonna go off topic but fucking hell I remember when stores would show off videogames by giving the kids a controller or whatever to try out the system at the very least. I would always just stay by the games while my dad would shop for food. Perfect fucking Daycare.

My first Metroid game besides Prime, I got this when the GBA didn't have a backlight and could barely see what was happening half the time. I went back and played it when the SP version of the GBA came out and it blew me away. I recently got it for free on the 3DS's virtual console and I tried to get this easter egg I knew about but never got on the GBA.
