Best overall, best vanilla, or best with mods?
Provide all, although I personally hate all mods that aren’t optimization mods.

While we’re at it, what’s with the incessant amounts of annoying “horror mods” for Minecraft all of a sudden? Why does horror for children need to be inserted into everything?

I genuinely do not understand betafags. What is more fun about having less?
Maybe it's just me, but I don't find the playstyle of just building things fun anymore, not since I was 12. When I was 9-11 I had this world which I built many things in, and I had a lot of fun. But that was in creative mode, I would never consider doing that in survival.
I don't find any vanilla version of the game fun anymore, I only play with mods now, so it's probably a me problem.
I still think betafags are retarded though.

I do believe this, but also I'm not building like a youtuber who gets paid for it so I'm already limited. Currently trying to build an Iron Age Hillfort right now and so far it's only dirt, gravel, smooth stone slabs, and granite. I think it was different in the beta days (or up until 1.7.10) when it was about the quantity over the quality of the blocks. You didn't really have gradients which was a good thing because it was distinct. It's when building became standardized and in order to have a "good" build, it needs 1000+ moving parts and blocks in order to be considered not dogshit- it's just inflated overtime as "youtube builders" became popular. Even when you look at Grian's old videos, there used to be one about a keep from I think 1.12 days and it was super simple and nice.

1.6.4 was really the best version for me. I started Minecraft like two months before the redstone update. Even just looking at some of the mods on there, I see some that I totally forgot about. I really wish Millenaire was current.

Nice looking mountain with a big flat arena to build...what the fuck do I build? I mean I have some ideas but I'm really just...not good at "putting them to paper."

Despite its flaws and the beginning of the accelerated rot, 1.7.10 takes the overall and tentatively the modded slot. There's simply too many mods concentrated on a version that isn't a complete shitshow without the painful jank of the growing pains Forge was going through at the time with 1.6. Thanks for killing every non-modern version's build tools by the way Lexfagos. Real cool. fucking cunt.
Best vanilla is an even tie between a1.2.6 and b1.7.3 depending mostly on whether you want proper Nether sync or not. Maximum version is 1.2 Release, because holy shit the integrated server broke so much shit that still isn't fixed and has been flagged as fucking WONTFIX to this day.

You type like you play post-combat-update religiously.
That being said, modern building standards are so absurd that you cannot make something 'good' anymore, full stop, so people prefer older versions with less retarded standards.
The fact that you have to acquire each block you use in a build also helps. Really makes those gold/diamond accents mean something.

Redirect the water, make a few small fenced farms. Maybe a cottage. Log corners are a classic.

And I think you are retarded too for only seeing fun in playing with mods. Enjoy simplicity for once. - I too have lost the lack of building, yes, but once I see others build stuff my creativity kicks back in. Maybe it’s because I think it’s useless anyways since no one’s going to care when I build in singleplayer, but multiplayer actually has some purpose to it, I suppose.

Playing modded is adding shit for the sake of adding shit. “I’m so boooooored of Minecraft, I need more stuff or else I’m boooooored”, uttered by the simpleminded.

It’s how I feel but things such as enchantments and stone bricks I feel are pretty inherent to the game. I’ve never actually not played any version without a chicken-o-meter aside from recently so I find it somewhat integral, but I can also see its lack of purpose and growing annoyance. - Villager trading I also find quite inherent to the game, but that was added all the way in 1.3. But the bizarre way they’ve absolutely butchered, ruined and overcomplicated this shit, I despise.

The fact it was made by a single person as opposed to a multi-billion dollar company really did make everything better, I suppose, with Notch just making whatever he could in whatever time he had as opposed to Microsoft needing to limit its employees massively and then even then making things overly complicated and bloated.

It really was a set of things happening in the right place at the right time to birth Minecraft: Notch's programming and curious pixel artstyle, posting it on TIGSource which attracted C418 that gave us its defining soundtrack. And while his addition might be minor, Zetterstrand's paintings added to the etherial, mysterious atmosphere early Minecraft gave off when it was liminal.

It's these mixtures of talent and teamwork that could only come from a select group of people to make a groundbreaking artpiece like Minecraft, as oppose to whatever censorious piece of shit MicroSLOP is pushing out or whatever troondev is adding to their quirkchungus indie therapy session now.

In your complete and honest opinion, what do you think is the best Minecraft version?

For me, it would be either b1.7.3 or 1.8. Although, I don't really mind anything in between Alpha and 1.8, and the 1.5 Redstone Update I do really enjoy. Creative really is an essential part of Minecraft, which was only introduced in b1.8. Along with this, the bugs with blocks in b.1.7.3 such as wooden stairs being annoyingly unbreakable and wooden slabs being seen as stone, are a pain in the ass. So ultimately I wish there was a mix of updates that adds things in from one and removes others. If I were to choose just one, maybe 1.6.4 or 1.7.10? The debate about "sprinting"/"foodbar" is stupid. - For reference, I grew up with watching around version 1.3-1.4.2, played 1.6.4-1.8.9 (although, I did play 1.0 for some time because I could play it for free in the launcher without an account), and I quit around 1.9-1.10, so I don't have any nostalgia for b1.7.3, I just enjoy its simplicity. I've started watching Yogscast only "recently" (2018 ), and I do really quite enjoy their older video's of them playing really old versions. - I think older versions are just objectively better. It certainly was better before Microshit took over. I remember my dad saying that Minecraft would be ruined by Jewsoft in 2014-ish, and he was ultimately correct in his assumption.
When it comes to a version I have the fondest memories of playing I would say beta 1.8.1 and 1.0 as that's around the time I really developed an interest with the game. I've tried playing through Beta 1.7.3 with and without mods and I just get fatigued after like an hour and give up on the world.

I could make the argument that the current version is the best minecraft version. I've never really taken the muh bloat argument seriously because everyone seems to have different and inconsistent takes on what "bloat" actually is. I also like to preserve my world as best as I can so I don't really like using mods all that much. I've never really played a mod for the game that I really like anyways.

The only real problem I have with the current version is that Microjeet is trying to izzat away the C418 music for not doing the needful and giving up the rights to his soundtrack and hereby replacing it with literally-who artists who made pigstep.

Other than that, here are my responses to some common anti nu-minecraft arguments:

>Biomes aren't crazy like the ones in the beta
See the Windswept/Shattered biomes

>I dont like the 1.19 combat/hunger bar
Filtered.

>It doesn't look as nice as beta/an old texture for so-and-so looks better than the new one
Use a resource pack.

>They stole the idea for so-and-so from this autistic trannies mod and implemented it into the game without credit!
Based

>The phantoms are annoying
Just sleep retard

>The new caves suck
No they don't

>Diamonds are too easy to find
Who cares?

>The new features disrupt the flow of the game!
It's a block building game, it's not meant to be competitive.

You can't argue they add worthwhile value to the game.

Didn't know they existed, they look neat.

I'm personally just fatigued by everyone just accepting whatever slop Microshit serves them. Also, the performance hit with every version is kind of insane with every new release. I commend the people still running 1.8 or lower, such as Hypixel still technically running 1.8 servers. I just want some fellow autists to play old Minecraft with, for longer than a month and without banning me within that month.

Two of my favorite parts of Beta 1.7.3 are its world generation and its appearance.
