This is still a Cobblemon pack, so be prepared for a lot of weeb creatures scattered throughout.
Started the world with a Tepig, turns out my choice of specimen is
tiny:
Seriously. Look at this dude. He's not even big enough for a ham sandwich.
Anyways, I spent about ~12 hours journeying across the world for a good biome to settle in (as usual). I had no clue what I wanted (other than "not badlands or swamp"), and a nagging feeling that I'd never find it, but I kept at it for a while and got some pretty screenshots out of it. To contribute to the discussion on shaders: I concur that they're good for screenshots, but I personally really like them for big journeys in general. They make some of the randomly generated stuff look really pretty if done right. You can scale a mountain, then peek over the other side just as the sun is setting and see a bunch of cool shit slowly turn to silhouette. It's pretty great when done properly. Unfortunately, it's also pretty hard to do without a beefy PC, so I wouldn't recommend it to most.

Throughout this entire big journey, i'd set up a little temporary base by the world's spawn point. I hadn't intended to do it, but my inventory got so large so quickly that I had to get some chests down
fast or I'd lose out on a lot of neat loot.
This little guy is Toad. He is good. I found him not long after spawning and I've had him on my team ever since. I don't particularly know why. He's still not a Greninja, despite now being in his 40s, and he won that Ursaring fight singlehandedly.
Eventually, after a very long journey and absolutely zero clue of what I wanted to do in terms of builds or biomes, I gave up and just settled on the Stony Shore biome 40 blocks away from my spawn point. This was primarily done because of its incredible view:
But also because I got an idea, and saw fit to execute it. Introducing: the loooonghouse. (Number of o's is variable. The only consistency is that it's never consistent.)

This stupid thing is approximately 80 blocks long, 13 blocks wide. I built it all by hand because I have nothing better to do
(lie. I am the world's greatest procrastinator) and feel an insatiable urge to contribute to something greater than myself. It's got a dragon's head near the top because I thought it might be neat if the roof looked like the draped corpse of a dragon (and because the sheer amount of empty space was really bothering me).
It is the disguised
entrance to a long, unfinished, needlessly convoluted mountain base.

Emphasis should be placed on "unfinished" here. I really don't know what to do for the interior atm and I'm just sketching things out by carving rooms and throwing down some placeholder blocks. I have more cobblestone than god ever meant to create, so it'll probably have stone-brick flooring throughout most of it and stone-brick pillars for supports and detailing (should such a thing be needed), but otherwise I'm a bit lost. The general idea is just to build a cool complex underneath the big hill my looooooooonghouse is adjacent to, so the only hard rule is that most expansion should go right instead of left. I meant for the thing to be one floor, but while excavating that big centerpiece room (the one with the water elevator) I found out that I'd accidentally built into a huge Infested Cave. (That's where the farm is.) So now it's technically two. And might end up becoming three. Not sure.
My current project is a big room in the style of some old aquariums I used to go to, with different levels (within the same room) and sectioned-off bits for different types of creatures to be displayed, but i'm also working on a bunch of different stuff simultaneously.
The portal room, for example, is that one with the dangling thing from its roof-- it's meant to open into an End Portal (which I
will be replicating here, as I downloaded a mod to make the frames craftable at great cost), then have little branching rooms into the Nether and whatever other dimensions I end up adding. It's meant to be a bit gaudy, but I don't have the resources to be REALLY over-the-top with it so I'm considering just throwing some stained glass and quartz around and calling it a day. The general idea is to be sort of "holy-looking" to contrast with all the weird and creepy portals. Thought it'd be funny.
The enchanting room (with bonus Mending Villager) is super WIP-- I somehow forgot that I'd wanted to build a huge and spectacular library, so ended up making this tiny hovel that is now overcrowded and unfit for what I was imagining (which is why I'm considering adding another floor and a secret entrance to the "real" library somewhere in here). The Mending Villager complicates things further-- it took me half an hour to get that damned book in his trading menu, but now I can't move his lectern or it'll fucking vanish. (I've already traded with him a few times, so it should theoretically stick around just fine, but I'm worried that leaving the lectern unplaced for too long will reset his trades anyways.) No clue whether to make the hovel look nice or just scrap it all and move the whole place somewhere suitably more grand.
Ditto on the kitchen, at least in terms of it being unfinished. I have a weird idea for it-- I wanted to play around with levels, so all the important stuff is in a "conversation pit" that'll have steps sprinkled around its edges to make getting in and out of it a breeze. You can see that's already all placed (I can't just not make food while building all this shit, after all.) All the Caupona stuff seems to need its own special setup, and I don't really have room for that in the current kitchen, so I'm considering doing what I did to the Portal Room and branching out the kitchen into different sections dedicated to different things. (This might also require another floor.) I also wanted to make a dining room/hall nearby, but the current setup I have dictates that such a thing would either need to be on another floor (likely beneath the kitchen) or severely compromised to fit as closely to the kitchen as I want it to. I'm also not sure how it'll fit
thematically, as I planned on making the kitchen sort of stereotypically midcentury (complete with flowery wallpaper and checkerboard tile), but the dining hall is supposed to look like proper viking work and call back to the loooooooooooonghouse. Decisions, decisions.
There are a bunch of other rooms I want/need to do. I still don't have anywhere to experiment with Create contraptions (ironically, in trying to relax and build whatever I want, I haven't touched that mod
at all despite being 44 hours into the world); I need a darkroom for developing some of the photographs I've taken with in-game cameras (going to build a gallery for the best ones); I'm sick of sleeping in my base's storage area and want to build myself a bedroom, but can't deny the convenience of literally sleeping right next to the loooonghouse's door and the outside world; the mad science laboratory I had planned for my fossil revival room would probably double as a great place to grow tumblestones and gem crystals once I update to 1.8, so I've got to move that out of its tiny room and into someplace grander; I was planning on building a great big bestiary in an open-air wizard tower, but the island and bluff I was going to build it off of is way too small to do so and I need to find some natural-looking way of expanding both...
It's good to be busy with something I'm enjoying, despite my recent lack of time to work on it, but the frustration one feels when made to sit down and figure all of this shit out cannot be adequately conveyed through text.

I thought writing this out and sharing my work with you all might help with that, but it seems it hasn't. Ah well. Hopefully this is still nice to look at.
