Dudes, we have to be honest with ourselves about this.
If you have been playing Minecraft long enough to remember the official release, and you are still playing Minecraft, you are some degree of autistic.
And autistic adults shouldn't be catered to.

am i the only one here that likes minecraft still lmao, granted i dont use the new blocks or do the warden stuff, but the base game is fun, and mods make it better. i dont really pay attention to what they say politically because it's not like their forcing me to transition in game or do gay and retarded shit, i can just be a genocidal mob hunter and build whatever. i think the new dimension might be a good idea if they fully plan it out. if it's shitty, you dont need to go there to beat the game unless your doing 100 percent runs or whatever.

and another thing, minecraft is really good at archiving old versions. like no other game ik does that.

Could also be because the PS5 got no games to buy.

Mein Kraft with it's sandbox lets you do so much and is moddable. Meanwhile gay Wolverine is gay & mods can't fix it

The base game is fun and mods extend it's life massively. What's absurd is how pointlessly misdirected Mojang's development work is. They introduce surface-level shit to the game that any mod could trivially equal, and completely fail to deliver any underlying improvements that are obvious next-steps to improve the game overall.

The game doesn't need more content from it's developers. If they want to keep milking this cow they need to evolve the engine. Properly mainlining things like shader support and LOD/long-horizons are what Mojang SHOULD be working towards. But they don't, it's just lame little additions.

This guarantees the game itself won't get significantly better. Fortunately the core of it is already very solid so whacking great modpacks can still provide an experience that feels new, even if you've been playing it on and off for nearly 20 years at this point. But nothing Mojang's bringing to the table really helps towards that.

lol "they changed it so it sucks now," the thread. This happens literally every time they add anything at all to the game, having failed to get approval from the "bought it ten years ago and been bitching about it ever since while still playing it regularly" committee, because [thing they added in this update] isn't exactly and precisely [thing I once thought of, mentioned once on some unofficial forum thread somewhere, ergo they fucking owe me], so it's "the worst change ever." This remains the most modding-friendly and easily-modded sandbox game of all time. You can literally add whatever you think is missing yourself if Mojang/Microsoft keep "missing the mark."
First part is true, Minecraft players are utterly obsessed with complaining and whining about how the game isn't perfect, IIRC that's a big symptom of why Notch himself sold the game. But, using an excuse of "IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT MOD IT" has been used to silence ANY modern criticism about the game and does nothing to help Minecraft.
I do note the troon-coded color scheme, but expect that murdering fucking everything in this new dimension will be immensely satisfying, much to their utter shock and horror as players invade this new "uwu" aesthetic and lay waste to it in their private sandboxes. It was the same as with that troon-coded bee thing they added. You could kill those too.
I will take pleasure in killing the cute animals, but for the amount of time involved in getting to the dimension to do that, it's not a worthwhile investment for the 15 seconds of joy you'll get. People don't play Minecraft for killing cute animals, that's just a fun feature depending on the player.
You can always still play older releases or mod the new shit out if you want, too.
I play 1.12.2 all the time, and I'm happy that they've maintained the older versions' accessibility. But like I said, saying that "there's always old versions chuddy" is a dumb excuse.
I've already discovered a foolproof way to avoid this new dimension too. It's a similar tactic to how The Nether can be avoided completely by failing to build a rectangular "portal-like" shape out of obsidian blocks and opting out of the "ignite it with flint steel" process. This method works, even 100k blocks away from spawn. I've evaded being kidnapped by The End in several sandbox instances by ignoring the game's sneaky psychological warfare trying to trick me into hunting down an End portal, hunting and killing Endermen, slotting their eyes precisely into the activation slots and leaping into the mystical portal that emerges.
What is a game when you don't need to interact with things at all? I mean, yes, you're right, Minecraft IS INDEED a sandbox game, but the Nether and the End were designed and created with the intention of people interacting with it, therefore, other gameplay mechanics were shaped around that intention, and from that, the gameplay progression was changed. Survival Mode is Minecraft at it's best, a great mix of sandbox and SURVIVAL. You want to do the things you believe is the right way Minecraft players should treat the game? Play Creative mode. Most things modern Mojang puts out is shit they advertise as "improving game progression" or "making the game more interesting" while it has zero reason to be made, found, interacted with, or even acknowledged, unlike the additions of the older versions which were mindful.

Minecraft is a GAME, and often times in designing a game you make everything serve a purpose, and purpose is not complete without a NEED. Why get something like say, armor, when you don't NEED it, the thing is, you DO need it. Armor is needed to survive the challenges the game makes you face. Why go through those challenges? So you can have better capability to do shit in this sandbox. Progression isn't everything like some people try to make it, but it's vital to Minecraft's whole gameplay outside of Creative Mode.

do you think we're going to run out of modpacks/all possible ideas would have been used, resulting in the same mechanics over and over?

How do you manage to say absolutely nothing with so many words? Holy shit who gives this much of a shit about a children's sandbox video game? You're whining that they aren't adding what YOU want, as fast as YOU want, as if them adding any of this takes away from any previous version. It cost as little as $10 and no more than $30, depending on when you bought it. You have complete access to EVERY version of the game, with thousands of mods and modpacks to choose from, and you can host a multiplayer server (for cracked launchers!) for any of the versions made for multiplayer.

From Microjang's point of view it's a children's sandbox game, that's their target market and who they're making updates for. Sure there's a pretty big difference between the Java and Bedrock versions, but nothing they add takes away from any older version. They easily could've just scrapped Java or made it harder to mod or have open source launchers, but they didn't. They made modding easier. They let you play 1.12.2 forever.

It's okay to enjoy things, and I for one am glad they don't listen to terminally online angry faggots.
Kek all I've seen with these wordswordswordswords essays is divided into camps. Some people will have a volcanic autistic meltdown over shit Mojang added that they don't like because it isn't what they want. And in response to this, people like you will scream "STOP CARING NOTHING LIKE THIS MATTERS DOOD" while indirectly defending the lowering in quality of anything, which starts the autists back up. What Mojang should do is understand as they've done that their playerbase is filled with retards who only want what they want, but they shouldn't bend the knee to them by making everything so safe and non-interactive that no one gets angry. This could be better or for worse by looking at their development staff demographics (likely for worse), but it would be so much better than what they're doing now which makes the game more and more mediocre.

do you think we're going to run out of modpacks/all possible ideas would have been used, resulting in the same mechanics over and over?
Nah, it just might take longer between these new ideas and mechanics. I'm still waiting for an updated Thaumcraft-type magic mod. I think Create could be expanded a bit too with more machinery options. I love multiblock structures and had a lot of fun with Immersive Engineering way back.

Edit to respond:

I don't think they're lowering the quality at all. I can agree they aren't improving it quality-wise, but I can't point to any one change that I think detracted from my enjoyment of the game. It mostly bewilders me that people will let new additions to the game affect their mental as much as they do. Okay you don't like the new stuff, just play one of the older versions?

I am aware that I don't have to respond to every tardrage, and I make an effort not to. I'll just start responding like this:

tl;dr it's a sandbox game marketed towards kids, just have fun and don't let trannies live rent free in your head. We all have more in common than we think, and we let internet slapfights get in the way.
