Genuinely one of my biggest issues with (modded) MC. People talk about ram being the most important but really you're fucked if you have a CPU that has meh single core performance on you have certain mod setups. Hell even singular mods like the one you mentioned can rape your cpu.
ever since i found out about the ZGC launch option ram has never bothered me even with just 8gb on a 100+ mod world but no matter what i do my cpu peaks whenever i load new chunks and it takes forever which means my plane mod is useless because i hit a wall where the chunks have to wait to load and im stuck in place until it finishes. minecraft is such an absurd game when it comes to the technical aspect, i recently installed a modpack that had like 30 performance mods half of which did practically the same thing and somehow the game still ran and actually did well performance wise.

this looks crazy i cant tell if its abandoned or not though, the video title says version 0.1 but the latest mod version is from two years ago and is only version 0.0.7.3 though it also says one of the mods used in the video is exclusive to the discord so maybe they have just reclused into only uploading builds on their discord? i really hope its not abandoned because this looks sick, i never liked the old space mods because they werent very immersive (though this one still seems to require loading dimensions for the planets sadly)

Have you considered specializing in single-core performance for your CPU of choice for the single-threaded server yet?
Doesn't matter much anymore, even having a shitton of cores still land you at 4.8GHz and the best you could find's maybe 5.1GHz
and even if you found a 1-core 10GHz cpu it'd only double performance
whereas a global multithread would functionally increase performance 10x over on a 12-core CPU

Dominos x Minecraft.

Will be released near the end of October. You’ll be able to purchase all the boxes separately for “collectors purposes”. - You’ll be able to get an exclusive code for a cape with it.

Exactly! I had this issue forever across multiple PCs (only a few years ago did I get a PC that would be considered "great") and it's why I don't use vehicles on worlds that aren't on a dedicated server, on a pre-made map, or after spending a bit generating a few hundred chunks around spawn. MC is supposed to be explored slow because of this, vehicle mods are for super light, borderline vanilla modpacks.

Performance mods become redundant after a certain point, too many can even cause issues and not all have good compat with other mods.

Funny enough, some mods actually take advantage of multi-core CPUs such as distant horizons. But I believe they're still restricted by MC's single core nature in some ways. Even then, a dedicated external server with a high clock speed CPU (overclock perhaps) is the way to go for max performance.

the fastest overclocks don't even double that performance, and for anyone's purposes, a 5x cpu usage reduction's the baseline, so even nitrogen-cooling your cpu's a long way from that.
Also most overclocks these days barely manage to get an extra 15%
for all means and purposes, create shouldn't be that laggy.
Java isn't a slow language, it's one of the fastest dynamic languages there is.
If you had to tell me to choose between remaking minecraft's code from scratch or invent a CPU that functions in the dozens of gigahertz, the latter's reaching the frontiers of even theorical computing.

They used to have a lot more variability in the results of the doping process its now a lot more consistent so the default clock can be much higher. In that regard clock rate hasn't moved as much as one would assume compared to production consistency, they were getting 'modern' clocks back in like 2000 and only very recently has stuff started boosting consistently above that. Actual performance increases are more design based than anything (also memory is much faster tbf)

It's definitely better to redo the entire code, Notch knows what vibe coded nonsense is bloating it. Always better to perfect something rather than just shoving more resources (or trying at least) and hoping for the best.
What if instead of GTNH it was GTNHH and it was based?
GTNHHH featuring Vince McMahon.

Another combat overhaul mod but for Bedrock. Lol why do people bother...the guy has a Trannystuck troll as his skin, only trannies and children play Bedrock. Question answers itself really.
AI would do a better job at it.
not even in a derogatory way, it's just gotten that good
Never tried, I don't mind it being used as the tool it's meant to be so long as it's not most of the code. What do people use these days, Claude?

[General discussion about computer hardware, threading/multi core performance and Overclocking in particular]
Didn’t wanna go on a sperg rant about one of my special interests but if I’m posting anyways screw it.

Threading/Multi core MC performance
Trying to get vanilla MC server or otherwise to run good is a pointless and impossible task especially if you’re under the misconception that it’s a hardware problem. Any server more sophisticated/larger than a boot to lan uses custom .jar files that aren’t even minecraft anymore and accordingly break almost all vanilla “tech”, are buggy, and still don’t even run that good (bukkit, paper, flavor of the month).
Vanilla MC does only run on a couple threads which is why you should as much as possible use Sodium to spread the load out. Using just it and a couple of its cousins I was easily able to get a distant horizons drehmal (just before they added sodium to their own pack they bundle with the map) server running and handling 8 people plus me without my 800$(total, the CPU’s were 40$) xeon workstation breaking a sweat (god I loved that rig). It being back ported for it is half the reason I’m giving GTNH a serious try atm.
(INB4 idgaf how pozzed the sodium devs are everyone with a github account is subhuman by default.)

Overclocking
Has been a joke for a long while, at least for intel/nvidia stuff. If you have a ~2015 or older cpu and motherboard that supports it and you’re willing to go through the trouble you can get a nice little bump in performance out of your already nice rig. If you’re expecting anything more you’re gonna get burned just like I did with old fucking X series cpus, do not ever count on it it is so inconsistent, janky, and time consuming it’s miserable and that was with me gambling on cpu’s that were 40$ a pop so in any other case it’s hideously expensive too. Post ~2015 CPU performance was plateauing so bad that they just started pushing the max turbo up so high that nowadays overclocking’s even closer to pointless cause the max stable speeds fractions of Ghz over what it already does stably out the box. Once again this’s referring to Intel shit, no idea what it’s like for the amd goys.

GTNHHH staring Vince McMahon
Gotta build a stargate and upgrade it to 9 Chevrons so you can attend the WWE PanGalactic championship on the starship Destiny.

It's definitely better to redo the entire code
Microjang tried and failed. Tis what bedrock edition is.

the guy has a Trannystuck troll as his skin
That is one faggoty ass eboy skin but it is not a troll.

I personally use claude as my daily driver, coding or not. I feel genuinely ill using anything else because even today they forget shit you've said 4 replies earlier, at least claude tends to do that only cross-discussion. It's also a bit dim in terms of coming up with its own stuff, so you find yourself often pointing optimisations that seem obvious to you if you know what you're working on.

I used it for modding minecraft for a few mods and it's been nothing short of incredible, after seeing a friend painstakingly make his custom multi-fluid sim in minecraft (finite liquids that can occupy the same block and flow between two fluids of different density), i was able to make my own from scratch in a day, and by the second i fixed all the issues there had.
The amount of work you can get done is scary.
Months of coding cut down to a few days at most.
Year long projects turned into a single monthly curiosity projects.

It's truly JOEVER for programmers out there, you either become one-man project leaders or die.
$90 for the MAX plan's steep but i'd pay triple that hand over fist for the time saved.

I fully believe that someone could remake 1.7.10 in a few months, fully multithreaded, should they know what they're dealing with and get that plan.
hell, i could probably make a mod that hijacks minecraft's chunk gen to be fully multithreaded and run on GPU, it'd probably not port 1:1 the gen appearance but it'd get darn close

nah he's got a point, i tried to check for a better way to do skyrim's open cities mod and i got recommended claude 3.5 sonnet, the way it's said is that AI can translate the machine code better because, well it's a program, it can even run debug operations and if you give it a error log it can still maintain the conversation "stored" so it can fetch the error back on the code unlike other AI's who just forget shit after a while.

It becomes so by removing all the magic mods, I presume?
Just forestry lol.

Joking aside despite how much I love Thaumcraft I see why people get so pissed about the consequences having magic mods in the mix screwing with the balance of the whole pack. Bees and nugget duping alone are never going to jive with gregtech no matter how many teirs up they try to hard gate it. I also really hate forestry.
