Morality of destroying terrorist's relatives houses

Context: Israel demolishes houses belonging to the families of terrorists as a deterrent, since it's hard to deter people that are ready to die and enter heaven for their 72 virgins.

Suffice to say that the UN doesn't approve, what are your opinion (in general on the practice, not on the Israeli conflict, though it will happen anyways).

You should never involve innocents, unless it's like that shitty movie where a nuke is set to go off and they retardedly don't torture the terrorist's family. I still think that film was propaganda.

Does it work in deterring further attacks? Considering how Israel treats Palestinians I doubt these measures mean anything to young men who already believe they have no future.

Intentionally attacking civilians and or the gross disregard for civilian life is terrorism regardless of who does it. Armed men attacking armed men isn't terrorism strictly speaking.
 
Anyone who threatens our greatest ally in the region needs to be dealt with severely. Haven't the Jewish people been through enough? The presence of those domiciles within Greater Zion was equivalent to another Shoah. I think that depends on the willingness of the relatives to cooperate in bringing the terrorist to justice. There’s no justification for murdering civilians to make a political point, whether on the side of the Palestinians or the Israelis.

However I would like the same punishments applied to Jewish extremists who deliberately provoke and attack Muslims and Christians. A just punishment applies to all offenders equally.

What Israel is engaging in is very different from the kind of terrorism plaguing Europe. Israel is effectively an occupying force and fighting an irregular war using tactics that basically every other country that has ever fought one has used, its not pretty and it certainly isn't morally right if you don't believe in 'the end justifies the means'. What happening now in Europe is a fifth column and dealing with that requires a very different toolset to avoid agitation.

"Innocents" are the moral support basis for terrorists and the mass in which they can hide, through their inactivity they directly contribute to the terrorist being able to harm actually innocent people. So by forcing their relatives to bear the consequences of the terrorists actions you directly put pressure on their support basis and thus compromise further operations and recruitment efforts. Among the "Palestinians" its also common to breed sons solely for the purpose of using them as a weapon against Israel: these boys will never get an education, never learn anything, their sole function is to be a drain on Israel before blowing themselves up somewhere. So the parents themselves are the perpetrators and the actual terrorists just their tool. Fuck em, I think blowing up their houses is pretty lenient they should just blow them up directly.

I'll ignore the easy target of future demographic in the west, the issue I have is that the values you speak of are an invention of the last 80 years. Punishing a group for an action of single people was the norm for human history up until post ww2, and one can argue it's still done just phrased in a way that it's not overly apperant. How many articles are there on some European country that voted against American interests and "suddenly" they have massive political demonstrations and economic sanctions against them?

In general the argument of the act being barbaric is nonsense. No one is being physically beaten or tortured. The family, especially for Arabs, is a massive influence and they bear the blame for their children fucking up.
