Moving to America

I want to move to America for the guns. I'm infatuated with the FAL, L1A1 specifically and i want one. Might not be as modern as a AR15 but it makes up for it in power. what's the best place for this kind of rifle exactly? Ironically the gun comes from the same country i am in and i still have to move to get one. it's a leftist hellhole here but things aren't much better in the states politically, it would be worse if it wasn't for the amendment stopping the US government from censoring people like how it is here. I would build my own gun but i would never get an opportunity to use it and i don't fancy going to jail for at least 20 years.

telling you exactly where is illegal even in America but any place where the censors reside is a good place

The problem you're going to have with getting your FAL and L1A1 is that both of those guns are old and most likely in collectors hands. Just like how the UZI and MP5 are hard to get a hold of (even semi-automatic variants). Looking into auction houses like Rock Island Auction House might be a good place to start.

don't.
how can it be much worse? obviously i'm not going anywhere near a densely populated hellhole which is always the epicenter of everything wrong with basically everything Ted Kaczynski ranted about.

The later production rifles aren't that old, and they were used in the millions in pretty much every corner of the globe. Most rifles are about the same age especially Kalashnikovs.

A new-ish semi-auto might be available, but the original models, especially the G-series FALs are quite expensive.
DS Arms still manufactures them, if you're fine with an "unauthentic" model.

I've heard more idiotic reasons for wanting to move here, but not many. You'll fit right in! Welcome to America!

E- However, your argument about not wanting to go to jail for building and firing off a gun gives me pause. Our national motto is: "Be good or be good at it", so perhaps study that like a mantra before coming.

i meant for building a gun in the country i'm in right now.

If you can't do shady shit without getting caught, you're not a true American. Study the mantra.
i have already, it's just that there isn't much you can do with an illegal firearm. I can fault the british police for many things, but their firearm restrictions are pretty effective. The only thing i could do is sell it to some gang which will probably get traced back to me somehow, or give somehow move it to Belfast.

You're a man of culture for liking the FAL, but good luck finding one here. The easiest one I've been able to find was a Century Arms clone (whom /k/ once told me has terrible quality control), or buying one online via Atlantic Firearms (which you'll still need to get transferred via a licensed firearms dealer, and pass a background check).

One top of that, you'd need to be a US citizen, which would take time, and given that a Biden presidency is possible, they may get banhammered before you can get naturalized.

ON TOP OF THAT.... the guns and ammo pickins' are slim these days. At best, you'll be on yet another waiting list.

I admire your dream of wanting to experience the joys of the 2nd Amendment, but I don't want you to make a big move and be disappointed by the reality on the ground.

The reality of being in the US is less exciting than the perception.

Plenty of friends of mine have stayed here a few years then headed back home. We have weird traditions and politics that are hard to acclimate to if you're coming from Europe.

If you specifically want to come here to own a gun, don't. Go to Las Vegas, where there are a lot of fantasy shooting ranges. Rent the thing you want and make sure you really, really want to uproot just to have one.

It costs a lot to move to the US. If you can afford to do that, you can afford to devote a tiny percent of your budget for some try before you buy.

And this thread will be moved soon to Spergatory.
