The Dude family has decided it's time for a second ankle biter. We both have fertility problems, so getting pregnant a second time has proven difficult. Our first pregnancy ended in a miscarriage on my birthday in 2006. January 2008, the week we moved into a new rental house, and Mrs. Dude was suddenly in "the family way." There was a growth on the placental sack which forced my wife into early labor. Once a week for two months we found ourselves in the Women's Hospital to end the contractions. Finally, 7 weeks before Little Dude's due date, it was decided to have our son join us in the world. He spent 9 days in the NICU where he did remarkably well.

Which brings us to now. Mrs. Dude's parents have decided to help us financially in any way needed to get pregnant again. We're both excited and emotionally energized by their generous offer, as fertility treatments, IUI and IVI procedures are very expensive. Please keep us in your thoughts, and prayers if you're religious, as we proceed down this exciting road. I will keep everyone up to date with new information, and hopefully soon excellent news.

My parents split up when I was in the second grade. Our family didn't face nearly as many challenges as you guys have. It's really inspiring to know there are parents out there who really love each other and their kids. Best of luck to you and your's on your second Little Dude. :heart-full:

I'm not a kid person, but it sure does warm my heart and get me all mushy when people are excited to start/expand their families. That's awesome, man. Best of luck with everything and wishes of great health to Mrs. Dude and you!

I've gone from Graveyards to Day Shift and am really busy all day at work, so I haven't been posting as much. Also my laptop took a shit so all I've had was my phone and sometimes my wife's work laptop like I have the past couple nights.

Thanks everyone for your support. You guys are all awesome and I love being part of this community and reasonably well-liked.

Best of luck!! Yeah, I hope its a boy. As someone who's studied how human beings have grown over the generations, I've found it is certainly better for siblings to have at least one other sibling of the same sex.

I only have one sister and that's always sucked.

That's why I'm definitely having at least 3 kids, that way one of them is guaranteed to have a sibling of their same sex.
