If that lawsuit is real, it only has begunI can literally sense enormous amounts of fun in the future. This shit isn't over.

Huh. I thought they didn’t want to be bought. This is a fun turn. My balls were going blue, but now we get some court shenanigans. Fun times ahead.
The legal documents are of incredible length and supposedly they agreed to give Musk this info, but then they dumped enormous amounts of information on him, what I was calling "dump truck discovery," which is when you respond to a request for information with ludicrously huge amounts of information to the point it is utterly useless.Since you're the resident law shitposter around here let me ask you, is there any reasonable legal scenario where its reasonable for Twitter to refuse to hand over data from someone looking to buy the company?
But Musk isn't "looking" to buy - he already signed a binding agreement to buy Twitter!Twitter to refuse to hand over data from someone looking to buy the company?
They have to go this route. Elon's next offer will be 20-40% less than the old one.
This is Music Biz Marty level of big brain thinkingI mean, if nothing else, Elon getting the Twitter board to beg a judge to please force Elon to buy Twitter is pretty funny. If that isn’t a vote of no confidence for the current management I don’t know what is.
I believe he is relying on the specific performance clause. Twitter has not specifically performed, in the terms of the contract, or at least that is what Musk is claiming. But Musk isn't "looking" to buy - he already signed a binding agreement to buy Twitter!
Due diligence is all stuff you do before you sign!
So its 2 toddlers pointing fingers at each other while waiting for the adults to figure out what happenedI believe he is relying on the specific performance clause. Twitter has not specifically performed, in the terms of the contract, or at least that is what Musk is claiming.
According to Musk, it is Twitter that has breached the contract, and it is they who owe him a billion.
There has never been a case exactly like this between entities this rich, so it has the possibility to be really fun.
Right, there's a certain subset of people who are actually taken in by this shit. They genuinely think guys like Elon Musk are subversive rogues or leaders to follow because he can sometimes act aloof and irreverent. Elon Musk knows that and has been more than happy to capitalize off all of it.He did it to sell insanely overvalued Tesla stock to gullible morons then pocket the (billions of dollars' worth) change when he was inevitably 'forced' to back out of the deal by shady, evil Twitter overlords.
Musk never wanted to buy Twitter. Well, actually, he definitely did, because he's a power-mad wannabe transhumanist Syndicate Wars style dictator with a desperate desire to control the narrative. But there's a difference between that and any legitimate desire to take on the responsibility of running one of the world's largest social media platforms, especially one whose userbase utterly despises him and wants him to fail.
So Twitter actually tried to gish gallop him, but physically. The legal documents are of incredible length and supposedly they agreed to give Musk this info, but then they dumped enormous amounts of information on him, what I was calling "dump truck discovery," which is when you respond to a request for information with ludicrously huge amounts of information to the point it is utterly useless.
This is what Musk is complaining about.
This is also exactly why you do this dump truck discovery, because the other side basically says, look, he asked for all this stuff, we gave it to him, what didn't we give him, we gave it all!
This is why I'm expecting to be entertained by whatever legal fight emerges from this.
No matter who wins, we all win.
I’ll never understand why some people get the pass for being insufferable attentionwhores and others get the shaft. Musk, Depp, Heard, Grimes—I don’t care, all celebrities are insufferable and perform in the public eye for their personal gain. Just because one of them is charming or funny or “le wholesome Ryan Reynolds” or smokes marijuana doesn’t change that it’s all just for ego.Right, there's a certain subset of people who are actually taken in by this shit. They genuinely think guys like Elon Musk are subversive rogues or leaders to follow because he can sometimes act aloof and irreverent. Elon Musk knows that and has been more than happy to capitalize off all of it.
I said it from the beginning, but this Twitter thing has always primarily been a way to pump up his personal stocks, both his literal personal stocks in the companies he owns, and his figurative stocks as the center of a cult of personality.
Musk might not be quite as horrible and full of hatred for the middle class as other people in his wealth bracket, but the fact remains that every one of these individuals got to be where they are somehow. Ultimately profit comes first, not altruism. Twitter is not an especially profitable platform, meaning the question was always how to maximally boost his profile while minimizing loss.
I deeply love billionaire fights, the best ones involve mercenaries. There has never been a case exactly like this between entities this rich, so it has the possibility to be really fun.
So the Twitter board is now working to bring in the person that the SJWs are hating nonstop? Hilarious.
Musk, "jokingly", wanted to buy Twitter so he could let his transphobic buddies, like The Babylon Bee, back onto the platform. Then, because he's a billionaire asshat, he actually went through with the joke.
Arrogant fucking twat.
He's singlehandedly put me off buying a Tesla and makes me feel dirty rooting for Space X...and that's saying something as I grew up in Brevard County and my dad worked on the machines in the firing room.
Until twitter confirms the deal is canceled and musk is out for good twitter will not get one dollar from me. I canceled my twitter blue immediately when musk made his offer to buy the company. I am also fully adblocking on twitter including promoted tweets, blocking advertisers, etc.
Honestly, I'm only skeptical he gets away with this because- given he has like 10+ kids- he seems to have a poor track record with pulling out of things.A lot of people thought he would lose the pedo guy defamation lawsuit. Maybe he will prevail here. It's still a dangerous game.
