My Little Pony Movie thread

Looks like a decent kids film. Animation's pretty good (except for those Super Mario 64 airships CHRIST that's terrible CGI) and the story looks like...well, it's certainly not what I was expecting. Plus, this is the only mainstream 2D animated movie this year so yay for them keeping a medium alive?

If this becomes a box office smash hit, I'm going to laugh so hard.

It probably will. It's releasing opposite of Blade Runner 2049 and it has no real competition with children's films except for the 4th week of The Lego Ninjago Movie. Budget's somewhere around 25-30 million so it'll at least break even.

Lovely. What a great dad.

Think movie theaters are going to set up a "rule" to weed out the neckbeards that you can't buy a ticket if you don't actually have a young daughter or niece who wants to see it?

I sincerely doubt it. If they can go to the first two Equestria Girls movies (And mind you, they were released in select theaters for a short time) with no issue, I don't think a more high profile film will deter them from going.

I mean it looks fine, 2d animation is nice but oh that cgi is awful and the fact it seem like the background and buildings are most cgi makes it look kind of like that awful top cat movie from a few years ago; only with better voice acting and 2d animation.
Buuuuut
Not gonna lie, gonna watch this . . . like months after it released on netflix as even I think it would be weird and creepy to see it in Cinemas with kids all around, I mean like what you like but have some limits.
