i think biggest problem with Holland ppl is that you guys, lack soul

How do the Dutch not care about those around them? Their healthcare and education are taxpayer funded, they have some of the strongest animal welfare laws in the world and are the 3rd best country for old people.

The Netherlands has a historically strong (classical) liberal core which promoted individualism but adopted social reforms in the 1800s and 1900s. Virtually all things you probably reference; i.e. drug use, prostitution, etc - are limited to the big cities. Not any different from judging the US by what's going on in LA or Detroit.

They just didn't really want to interact too much with us immigrant folx. On board, there were mostly Yankees and Canucks. They kept speaking Dutch to each other.

I am a Scandinavian American, and I love everybody. I basically love everybody except for Europeans from mainland Europe. White people from the Anglosphere are cool. Europeans tend to hate white Americans. It's totally not my fault that my ancestors decided to leave Europe. Europeans always think that they are better than us Americans. I've seen this phenomenon too. It seems to be a North European flaw. I've known Brits and Norwegians and Germans who were cold and hostile, and Italians and Greeks who were quite friendly. The exceptions are the Finns and Swedes who are pretty nice despite living up north, and the Spanish who would glady kill you for not speaking Spanish. With the French it depends on the person so they're somewhere inbetween.

Americans generally fawn over Europeans because we think Europe is a utopia, while Europeans generally have the opposite view that America is Hell on earth, which results in this behavior.
