[Breath of the Wild Gameplay, "What am I fucking doing? *cry laughter*"; Narcissa types "i need love I NEED LOVE" in chat and cries; chat answers "You must become your own love."; Narcissa writes "I am my own love but this is so hard that I need more love." and cries more]
[Stream changes; Narcissa is sobbing and smiling nervously while reading the chat. Makes a heart with her hands.]
[Stream changes; "Should I pull out a gun and killing myself live on stream? I've thought of that, earlier today."]
Other than these strong declarations that could make many worry about her, Narcissa also has another type of very unpleasant attitude she had adopted since her defeat in the championship. (...) with an audience dedicated to gaming that tried to support Narcissa only to receive insults and be mistreated, her amount of viewers was reduced enormously, and they likely saw the alarming suicidal declarations made by Narcissa to the viewers for abandoning her. But keep in mind she only told them truly terrible things. One of the most impactful things Narcissa said, and this is an exact quote, was "just give me money you assholes" "or leave". As noted, Narcissa isn't known for being specially subtle when asking or even demanding money from her viewers.
[Narcissa holding a carboard piece with "Will WHINE on the INTERNET for MONEY" written; "Oh, pwease support my Patreon. Pleeeease? Pwease. I just need another fifteen hundred per month pweease. Please support me pweease. Please support me. Donate to my Patreon below. Pwease. Pwease give me money, pwease. Pwease."]
Another thing very criticized by a part of what once was her audience was that she lashed out erratically to even the slightest provocation from someone in the chat. Now that we're clear that Narcissa, due to her volatile personality and no patience for criticism, couldn't get new viewers, and therefore no new sponsors, let us ask ourselves: "What did she think of her biggest fans that followed her since her start as Cosmo?"
[Breath of the Wild Gameplay; "If you used to be a fan of me in the past I FUCKNG HATE YOU. It's insane to me, it's like incredibly fucking tilting to me." "Like, the people are horrible, I fucking hate gamers, I hate people who watch video games. I fucking hate speedrunners, I fucking hate people who like speedruns. It's all fucking disgusting to me. You all have such fucking poor taste it's disgusting. I fucking hate you." "You fucking old fake fan, you fucking piece of shit. Guess who's playing some Zelda? That's right, the great fucking me. Now go worship me, bitch."]
Happening after every event I just showed, the page Speedrun Online that Narcissa had founded with Daniel Hart and that the latter had managed with close to no intervention from her, opened a virtual store on it. It was created to pay the service and administrative costs of the page that couldn't be covered solely by the ad revenue from the page itself. This change bothered Narcissa immensely and she would go into disputes with the administration and their policies to make revenue to the page. Some days after her disagreement with the page's staff and being ignored, the page would be kidnapped and start redirecting to another page with the writing "I will never be used." As it was obvious, the administrators noticed it and transferred all the data to a new page that Narcissa had no control over. A little after, upon noticing that, Narcissa would give her opinion on what happened in a Stream.
[Stream; "Speedrun.com doesn't... it's a fucking bad site for Breath of the Wild. It's fucking bad for this game. You can't fucking differentiate things very well. It's fucking awful, it's fucking terrible, it's a terrible fucking site for this game. It's not enough. It will never be enough and I'm sorry, the entire fucking site was my fucking idea in the first place. And just like, it's still not even good enough because I became so fucking woke due to like, my insane knowledge and wisdom from playing speedrunning so many fucking years and pouring so much of my life into it. So fuck that website, it will never be enough for me. It'll never be fucking good enough."]
After this altercation Narcissa would become more unstable in her transmissions on Twitch, going on to criticize unknown people and the platform itself. Many times she would end up getting suspended due to breaking the terms of service due to inciting hate, nudity and self harm. The last straw for Twitch was when in 2018 Narcissa streamed an email that had fetish porn with bear traps (and yes, what I just said is not made up). Twitch responded by sending an email notifying all her rule breaking in the last month and finally stating her account had been suspended permanently. The suspension of her account was not only a big emotional loss, but also economical as it was her biggest source of income.
Narcissa would try to stream in other streaming platforms to mitigate the damage, one of them being Chaturbate (a porn website). Despite her attempts to continue her streaming career in other websites, it would not bring in enough money to live with, and it dried up all her savings and then finally returning to her parents' house. In February 14, 2019 Narcissa uploaded a video with the title "Goodbye", announcing her retirement from the internet.
[Goodbye video; "I give and you take. I give and you take. I give and you... reform into something sinister. This is not a healthy environment for me to be in. Therefore, I must leave this place. But do not grieve for my disappearance, for I will find what I'm looking for in this life. I will just do it... alone."]
What could be seen as a sign of retirement and acceptance of an already well damaged reputation would not last long., returning to uploading gameplay videos to her channel months after uploading this video. These were only the first gameplays and many would follow, including a speedrun of Ocarina of Time that, while not breaking world records, was quite decent. Shortly after this in September, 2019, a Kickstarter goal was created for Narcissa to make a documentary about her story. This Kickstarter would reach its goal and in August 26, 2019 the first trailer was uploaded with Narcissa talking about the documentary and being optimistic about her future.
[Trailer plays; "Hey D_gurl. I like your username." "(...) to be loved. To find my place. To create a magical journey. I will show you. The magic."]
The rise and fall of Narcissa was caused solely for her decisions in managing her depression and in how she treated her public. A public that in reality was not hard to please and that had already been captivated for years in her past as Cosmo. Narcissa is a perfect example of what can happen to anyone who goes through a bad period of time, and that is instead of changing positively to overcome the obstacles, she changed for the worse letting herself be taken by bad feelings. Bad feelings that definitively were born in him during the two breaking points. The breakup with his girlfriend, and the defeat at the Nintendo Championship. Sadly, what Cosmo didn't see was that despite those he still had an audience that loved him and enough money that allowed him to live comfortably being what he wanted. That is a truly tragic thing that despite this he couldn't overcome his depression(?) if not for him, but for his fans. Those fans that would watch him slowly change into a completely unrecognizable person, but even worse, a bad person.
At this point all that is left for us is to have hope that Narcissa has bettered her attitude and rehabilitated after hitting rock bottom and that in the documentary she's making in the future, she'll show she has changed for the better. This has been the history of Cosmo Wright, the speedrunner that lost his identity.
[Stream; "Narcissa Wright, and like, that's me." *makes heart shape with hands to the stream*]
