ERA asks the important questions no one else will such as "was a man portrayed as an exceptional individual in this show that ended 10 years ago secretly racist?".

This is evidently a very irrelevant "thing" because it's a fictional character so BossAttack can go fuck himself. However, if it was an actual human being we were discussing, it's amazing how easily they throw out the "racist" label. Guy is ignorant and/or insensitive? That's enough to speculate on whether or not he's a racist.

The worst part is that being called a racist could potentially mess up your life way more than being called a nigger.

Most companies don't bother sending out review copies to those guys anymore.

I remember when Bethesda stopped giving out review copies to the gaming outlets because of the "Press Sneak Fucks" fiasco and they all collectively flipped their shit. They eneded giving early copies of games to streamers and select Youtubers it was kind of funny.

Before I posted this I chose to read the thread and honestly I'm surprised there are so many who are just "fuck yeah, Doom! Looks great!". Happy to see that there's people there that just love games.

I just watched the whole Doom Eternal bit of Quakecon yesterday and it was balls to the walls amazing. Everything about it was great. I freely admit that Doom, everything about it, is the one thing that can make me squee in real life. And the jokes made me fucking laugh. "Demon is an offensive term. The correct term is mortally challenged" got a good chuckle out of me.

The ones being offended at all though HAVE to be trolls or some of the densest motherfuckers on the planet. Did they even play the 2016 game? That game was chock full of over the top 'demon and hell acceptance' propaganda to show how cult-like the UAC had become in large part due to Olivia Pierce. The data entries, the hologram recordings, entire branches of the UAC, all gave that over the top contrast from Doom 3 where everything about the UAC was very serious.

I especially loved the data entry for UAC employees on "what to do if confronted by a demon and you can't escape" about shutting equipment down and giving yourself up to the demon instead of resisting.

Anyway, I'll save the squeeing for an actual Doom thread in Games, but yeah. The folk getting offended by DOOM of all things on Era are just trying to be offended.
