Apparently sold a million copies in a few days, #1 on Steam and Twitch, guess it deserves its own thread.

Anyone playing?

I think I like it so far. I've only been playing solo PvE. After 20 or so hours it seems about a mile long but only a few inches deep. There's something intriguing about it though.

Lolno.

Made by Amazon. New World (order). Generic world from what ive seen/read. ArcheAge did it better years ago and i doubt I'll see anything that compares to that world. Besides the game becoming totally fucked by in game whales and the balance of classes ruining the concept of the skill tree....was a good time. Building boats for combat/commerce and sailing the high seas was an interesting added level of flavor along with the persistent plots of land/houses.

>MMORPG made by Amazon
That's about as much fucking nope as someone can pack into a single game.

I wonder if this game will outlast Crucible, as it was also an Amazon-made game, and also given how fast that game died out, and was quickly forgotten. I don't even remember LawBreakers being forgotten as quickly, even though that game died out very quickly too.

Don't forget its reputation as an EVGA RTX 3090 killer.

Oh wait, literally don't because it's still happening apparently:

Amazon's New World Is Out of Beta, Still Killing RTX GPUs

The absolute state of things, they can't even read their own articles.

EVGA claimed that the soldering problem only affects a handful of GeForce RTX 3090 graphics cards that were part of the early production run in 2020. Although EVGA didn't reveal concrete numbers, the company affirmed that the affected batch is less than 1% of all the graphics cards that it has sold.

A total of 24 units fell victim to the disaster, which is less than 1% of all the (RTX 3090, we think) graphics cards that have been sold, according to EVGA.

The same guy wrote both articles!

The queues were absolutely unbearable on launch day and the day after. Their servers have a max capacity of 2000 players, which is pretty fucked if about half a million people wanna play.

If Amazon with their infinite money has no faith in the game to have enough servers, why should I put money in?
Also, reading about the game killed all hype I initially had. People already figured out the best builds/best way to farm and level up in Open Beta. So the late game is just pure open world PVP and guild wars and shit, no thanks.

I played the recent Ashes of Creation alpha. Everything I was excited for in that game such as the node system, node leveling, castle sieges, and other PvP stuff was all present and working so I'm hyped for that. New World lost all it's direction when Streamers forced them to remove open world PvP during it's alpha. Just looks so generic. Especially when other MMOs are coming out that look better. And they aren't run by souless globohomo cucks.

lol nope
MMO's can be fun if they aren't thought of as a time-sink, that shit should be on 2006.
Amazon mmorpg.
Amazon owns Twitch
New world #1 on Twitch
Connect the dots.
yeah, it's 1# on steam because they paid steam to do the marketing.

>bought it on steam
>waited 45min on a queue
>joined the game with my 75ms because all servers are either in Crime de Janeiro ou Sao Roubo
>got bored
>thought "this is like albion online but with prettier graphics"
>refunded

The game kinda looks like shit just play FFXIV if you want a solid MMO.
there's ESO and GW2 for decent western MMO's that doesn't have psychos in it.
Lost Ark shows promise.
and MIR4 if you want to farm memecoins.
recommending FF14 and not a look at its thread should be a crime.

I've been reading the Steam forums ever since launch because they're hilarious right now. People literally love corporations now, and they're defending every single action Amazon has done at this point, making excuses for their poor server management, making excuses for their bans for minor infractions, and flat out thanking Amazon without a hint of irony for the game. It's a nearly 2 trillion dollar company that has people living in shacks outside of their warehouse, and yet people are defending them simply because they released a FOTM to distract them from the hellscape the planet is becoming, BECAUSE of companies like Amazon.

Talk about a blackpill. The release has been hilarious, but at the same time very disheartening. Funnily enough, tons of the threads discussing how banning everyone is actually a good thing keep devolving into vax vs anti-vax conversations, and you can guess who is on what side.

I guess I'll elaborate on my experience since I made the thread.

15 hours so far since launch, didn't play any of the beta and didn't really follow the game all that closely before launch.

Haven't had any issues with queue. I had to queue once and that was for about half an hour right after character creation (I did pick the lowest populated server at the time though since I really didn't give a fuck).

Again, I've only played solo PvE. My biggest joy when playing video games is exploring open worlds, and obviously this game would be right my alley. I wouldn't say it's bad in this regard, but it isn't as good as it should be. A lot of this probably has to do with the immersion being killed by 100 other people around you at all times yelling in chat and spawn camping, but it's not just that. Landmarks are all very similar. You're either in an abandoned farm, abandoned cave/mine, abandoned shipwreck, or a pirate village. I've explored the entirety of two zones, and it's all very samey. My biggest issue is there isn't really any reason to explore in terms of finding treasure and loot (at least from what I've seen so far). The problem is exacerbated by little enemy and biome diversity (again, from what I've seen so far).

Crafting is fine. It does nothing new. Gathering is a good dopamine hit. Quests are all "Kill [X] enemies" or "Collect [X] resource."

I don't hate it, but I don't love it either. Maybe that will change when I get into PvP, I don't know.

I noticed how samey it was watching some footage of the game. There's a copy pasted farm in what I guess is the starting area even, just mirrored. You can tell this game is insanely rushed, and it's just extremely generic and low effort, which I'm betting occurred after they shifted the focus from colonization to zombie corruption. They just scrambled to get something thrown together and this is what we ended up with.

I don't think they intend for the game to survive very long, just enough to make a profit, though. Their actions don't make it seem like they have faith in it succeeding really. They could have immaculate servers for this game but choose not to, which doesn't bode well for them actually giving a shit.

Now I just wait to watch Ashes of Creation suck dick and then I'll never even have a hint of a thought that an MMO could ever be good again.

Pantheon is my last hope.
