Hockey General / NHL / Ice Hockey Leagues - Anything regarding hitting a disc with a stick on ice.

Everyone is calling it a 'freak accident'
The only thing freak about it is the violent nigger lifting his leg up like a kick intentionally.
I tend to agree.

I've never seen a skate blade go that high in hockey.
He's going to get away with it cause society can't ask questions about what happened here.
I don't doubt that this may have been intentional considering what players do to each other. One of the worst cases I can remember was the constant beating of Sidney Crosby when he first started out.

I’ve seen jokes on AI trying to re-create Adam Johnson’s death on the ice, but this is the first time I’ve ever heard of a story where a hockey player of all athletes using his leg as a king fu move to slice someone in the neck area.

Hopefully, this does not turn into a trend as the years move forward.

Holding out hope for some foolish reason
Have they charged the nog yet?
Has ANYTHING been done yet?
Or are they just saying "We need more safety"
We've had what 100+ years of hockey and nothing like this.

Here's all the hockey players who died during their careers.
Most are head trauma from getting hit by a puck or getting hit by a puck / unrelated to rink related things.

there are 7 deaths in 20+ years and one of them is 100% Manslaughter / murder.
And they wanna say its not fucking safe enough.

I had to dig to find out the attacker's name because none of the mainstream media articles about this even mention Matt Petgrave. Why do journos carry water for criminals that would kill them at the first opportunity?

I can't even begin to imagine it, cause with any reflection nothing they do holds up.
They either are that dumb, or that brainwashed that they believe they're doing good by ignoring this. Probably both.
People believing they're doing good lets them do a lot of awful things as long as they keep telling themselves, "We're the good guys!"

Petgrave is a goon/enforcer who has zero hockey talent which is why he's playing in England and not even the ECHL. Did he intend to the kill that guy? Probably not. But doing a reverse kick into the neck of a player is not even something real goons would do even in the worst days of hockey fighting.

two years ago (or maybe a year ago), Evander Kane had a real ugly incident where someone skated through his wrist by accident and nearly killed him.

It's a rough sport, but what Petgrave did was beyond....

I've always endure excitement when watching sports, and everyone is on the same page as me when I see car racing and hockey as some of the deadliest sports ever.

Always figured that the speed and fury of a good hockey game is the main reason why Finland ended up embracing the sport as hard as Canada did.

While American football is hardcore for those who haven't competed into sports before, yes hockey and car racing are more about speed that it can also be brutal with deaths

I don't know where you're getting this from. Hockey very rarely has fatalities. The only direct on-ice fatality in the NHL's hundred year plus history was Bill Masterton, who died in 1968. Adam Johnson became one of the only players in any hockey league ever to have been killed via on-ice injury.

Anyway, speaking of history, and of the 1960s, San Jose just became the first NHL club since that decade to give up ten goals in back-to-back games. The Washington Capitals better watch out, their worst season ever record might be in danger.

I noticed San Jose Sharks lacks any wins of the season and is ranking dead last right now. A fairly decent chance this may make history in such an embarrassing way.

With their schedule, there is a real chance of the Sharks not winning a game in 2023. But the league is against tanking they will get fucked in the draft.
That would be an such an embarrassment for the team. The first totally winnerless season doesn't seem so far fetched. Then again there are still lots of games after 2023 but it doesn't look like it would be a good season for them.

I'm sure they have to win at some point, but it would be pretty incredible if they manage to get zero wins. They should get relegated to the AHL if that happens.

Zero wins is close to impossible. The lowest ever win total was eight wins, by Washington in 1974-1975. It would be miraculous for San Jose to beat that, though they came close in 1992-1993.
