Nintendo Switch 2 - For the Soytendo consoomers to speculate about the successor to the Switch, recently announced for 2025.

Rumor mill has it that Nintendo shifted 3 million Switch 2 units in the 24 hour launch window. The previous record was held by the PS4 at 1 million during the first 24 hours.
I think this was posted before? The source is internet slob Nintendo Prime and he has been dick riding the Switch 2 since day one. There is no reason to believe he has some special source. Also, if it did shift that many in 24 hours, there would have absolutely been a press release. Seeing as a lot of store have ample stock even several days after launch, its hard to believe thats legitimate.

BTW, does anyone know when Sony made a statement about the number of systems sold. I figure Nintendo would have said something by now but it is the weekend.

I've already beat Mario kart world (excluding unlockimg all the karts and costumes). There is nowhere near enough content in this game to justify 80 dollars. Every thing else I have I had already beaten when I had an original switch. This console kind of sucks, I don't recommend buying it. Get a PC handheld instead.
It's possible that Nintendo is going to give World the "free update" treatment as the producer implies that 200cc could return in an update.

I would say that it's insane for Nintendo to pull this trick on their only launch title for the system and a follow-up to one of the most commercially successful games of all time, but I guess we're all used to it now

I don't understand this complaint at all. I got my Switch 2 on Friday and have also unlocked all the core stuff in Mario Kart World... and plan on playing this game a ton for months. What the hell is this complaint? Do you people not replay games? Especially racing games that are by design meant to be played a bunch after you've "beaten" them.

I'm still going to play Mario Kart 8 as well since not all of my friends have a Switch 2 and I "beat" Mario Kart 8 years ago. Do you not have friends? What in the hell?? You just want to complain.

Good for you. However.....

Not everybody likes racing games. I get why they made MK World the launch title - MK8 Deluxe was the highest selling Switch game by far - but it was the wrong move.

I mean, there were 2.2m lottery applications in Japan alone. If we assume there's similar demand in each region, then I can definitely see 3m sales being very believable (keeping in mind that Europe and the US both individually have 3x the population of Japan).

Large stock in the US seems to be a byproduct of Nintendo frontloading as many Switch 2s into the country as possible to avoid tariffs and also because the US is simply the much more profitable market to sell into (higher attach rate per console, strong USD, no subsidized pricing like in Japan so the console by itself is profitable).

Anecdotally I can say that I haven't seen any Switch 2s on shelves since Friday. I went to my local Walmart on Saturday and stopped in at the local Gamestop on my way home and neither had any more in stock

Yeah, there’s a reason I decided to wait until later to buy a Switch 2, given all the things that are coming out about it so far.

Still, it’s not like this hasn’t happened with Nintendo before. This is all sounding more like a 3DS situation again.

I don't really play games online much, and Mario kart world just doesn't have enough content to me. Mario kart 8 deluxe has all the dlc from the Wii u version in it by default, so there's a much wider variety of courses to race on compared to world. I'm not even saying world is a bad game, it's very fun, it just doesn't have a lot going on outside of the open world.

They’ve done it with every other EAD title, and people eat that shit up every time.

Weirdly, the backwards compatibility upgrades have been a way bigger deal to me than any of the switch 2 launch titles so far.
Nintendo barely advertised that at all.

It’s crazy how much of the switch 1 library ran like dogshit and how nice they run when brute forced.

I feel like Nintendo has been slowly turning into Apple for the last 10 years as in you're basically paying a coonsomer tax to get the little Nintendo sticker.
Nintendo's games are great. Look at all the angry people in this very thread that have nothing good to say and yet still move heaven and earth for the chance to steal a Nintendo game.

The gamestop where I got mine sold out completely the first night but I went to one of my local walmarts the next day at like noon to get a case and they had 10 consoles in stock sitting on the shelf so I think it just depends on what specific stores people are buying them from the most

No unless either the plot or gameplay give me a reason to, and usually after some time to not burn out.
Man the amount of kiwis that bought this is blackpilling, the hope of this shit bombing like the Wii U went out the window.

I hope all your graphite joycons break and cannot be refunded thanks to the new agreement you signed with Nintendo.
With some of the news coming out there is some optimism for the sales stalling. Once you went over the diehard Nintendo fans and scalpers you need to keep sales of both consoles and games to make profit

bro, nintendo has been turning into Apple since 2001. Since the Gamecube-era they've relied heavily on selling you the idea of the "Nintendo lifestyle"

They really fucked the first year or two of the switch 2 with this new mario kart. A good mario kart game will appeal to pretty much everyone. Unfortunately, it looks like they completely dropped the ball with the intermission track situation and the boring open world. It seems to be a downgrade on mario kart 8 in almost every way. It's still mario kart, so there's a baseline level of fun, but it looks to be a genuine 5/10 right now.

To succeed, the switch 2 needs to AT LEAST have a quality mario kart, a quality zelda, and a quality 3D mario game. Mario kart looks bad so far, and there's no sign of the other two anytime soon.

Donkey kong game looks mediocre, pokemon is over as a franchise. I have absolutely no reason whatsoever to buy this console atm, even as someone who is admittedly a cringe nintendo fan.

Oh also, they still have the permanent grey border and profile picture on the nintendo online emulators.

+ due to the newer joycons being attached magnetically, there won't be an option for longer-lasting hall-effect sticks. Better to stock up some original spares now as intended.
Those who had an OLED Switch before might see the Switch 2's LCD screen as a downgrade.

Not even Apple places their tech demos behind a paywall. Nintendo is outdoing them.
yet still move heaven and earth for the chance to steal a Nintendo game.
That's to demonstrate how less special the Switch hardware is for the price compared to other handhelds of the same generation.
I notice lag on some Switch games on original hardware/cartige without any mods and I feel scammed when a Steamdeck can play it better.
