Anyone here watch NYPD Blue? I started watching it on Amazon Prime after getting a bunch of clips recommended to me on Youtube.

It's a real breath of fresh air compared to cop shows from today. I'm only halfway in season 2 but it's kind of amazing that I'm watching a show from the 90's that aired on ABC (I think?) that shows plenty of side boob, has characters say the words nigger and faggot, has episodes that revolve around niggers robbing and killing and pajeets raping old women. There was even an episode that featured a tranny and the cops rightly mocked and ridiculed him.

Really takes you back to a better time.

Edit: Oh, and they treat journalists like the whores that they are too!

It was the first cop show (outside of COPS and America's Most Wanted) that I ever watched, mainly because my dad was into it. 1st season is pretty good since David Caruso steals the show, but season's 2 and beyond get better since they develop Andy Sipowitz character more and Bobby Simone is a great partner.

Season 5 (i think that's the one where Andy gets a new partner) goes on the slow side since not a whole lot happens outside of the new guy mackin on Bobby's main squeeeze. I think that's what I'm up to as far as my DVD collection goes. but yea, there's so much love affairs and in-office relationships in the show it's ridiculous.

Yeah, I'm in the middle of Medavoy and Donna arguing over trust and shit which is kind of annoying. But overall I'm still enjoying it.

Good show. Slightly jumped when they made it all about the trials of Andy like he was the Biblical Job.

The show wanted to show how Polack Andy was a hideous racist and typical blue-collar asshole completely fucking backfired when he became the most popular character on the show and they had to write around that, lol.

The death scene of Jimmy Smits was no fucking joke. I rank it with the death scene of Brando in Munity on the Bounty.

All I remember about it is that guy that ruined his career by leaving to star in a really bad film about a hooker that gets killed. There's a scene where you get a little too much info about how she loved to take it up the ass.

Also, I think NYPD Blue was one of the first shows to have an ass shot. Of man ass. Because that's what people want to see on television. A fat man's ass.

Another interesting thing about the show is how you would have some actors appear on Law & Order as well, and vice-verse.

  • James McDaniel (the black lieutenant) is a suspect in an episode of L&O SVU
  • Tamara Tunie (doctor warner from SVU) is the black lieutenant's wife
  • Kim Delaney (Diane Russel) is an agent that gets involved in one of Olivia Benson's case in SVU
  • Elliot Stabler is Diane Russel's ex boyfriend/hookup and drug dealer. He calls her Mouse.
  • Sharon Lawrence (Andy's gf/wife) is (i think) either a hooker or a victim in SVU
  • Gordon Clapp (Greg Medavoy) is a pedo suspect in SVU
That's just off the top of my head.
