Odd bugs/glitches you've experienced

So, we've all experienced a bug in some game we've played. Anybody have some particularly interesting ones? Bonus points if it's one you haven't seen someone else bring up online or been able to replicate.

For example, back when I was a little Benis, my ps1's memory card died. My dad let me take the little 12-inch tv we kept in the kitchen into my room and the ps1 from the living room so I could just leave the system running until we got a new one. Between going out for summer activities, I was playing the original Ape Escape. Got to the second to last boss fight against Spectre, in that theme park level, and hit what I thought was a loading screen at the time. Only the boss fight never loaded. Instead, it stayed stuck on a black screen, and started playing audio from cutscenes, occasionally skipping to a new cutscene audio track. When I went to check the console, it had gotten hot as hell, and I turned it off to try and prevent damage to the system. To this day, I've never heard anyone else mention the same thing happening to them.

For a more recent but reocurring thing, Bethesda games are known for bugs. I keep getting a similar bug on every Bethesda game I've played since Oblivion. I like to call it the Tarhiel glitch, after the character who fell out of the sky in Morrowind. In each game, at some point a character has spawned in the sky and fell to their death. Oblivion, I walk out of a cave and an imp splatters on the ground in front of me. Fallout 3, leave a metro and a centaur falls from the sky and dies on the sidewalk. Fallout 4, look over at the Red Rocket from Sanctuary and see a goddamned brahmin falling from the sky. Skyrim, on my very first playthrough, as I was exiting Bleak Falls Barrow, a pretty short distance into the game, a mammoth falls from the clouds and crunches onto the riverbank. At this, point, I don't even consider it immersion breaking. I consider it an integral part of my Bethesda experience.

So, how about anyone else? Any interesting bug stories to share?

Managed to get a Bad Egg in Pokemon Emerald without using a cheat device. In fact, such devices have never touched the cartridge.

I fell through my ship on Mass Effect, but I don't think that was all that weird at the time.

In Banjo-Tooie I was able to walk around the toxic swampland around Grunty Industries. Normally an unavoidable enemy pops out and instantly damages you and throws you to solid ground. My console is pretty old and actually no longer works so I assume it was some sort of hardware issue.

I remember randomly phasing through the ground in Skyrim after entering Whiterun.

I have a copy of Jak 2 that I can't complete because the entire game turns invisible halfway through and I fall through the world.

I used to love beta testing new MMOs back in the mid 2000s. The worst one ever was the PvP server for Age of Conan. Age of Conan had this weird combat system, and one thing you could do is knock your opponent on their back. Up until about a week before launch, there was a bug in the game where sometimes when you knocked a player back, he would be stuck in the falling animation until he was killed. You could also do it to the GMs, but they were immune to damage so they just got stuck there until they were forced to use GM commands to kill themselves.

Was playing Rising Storm 2 Vietnam and spawned in on the defenders side invisible. The only way I figured it out was when two VC players walked into me and didn’t shoot back. I went on a huge ass killing spree as an Aussie point man. Then in true RS2V fashion my commander called in a bombing run killing me and resetting whatever was causing that glitch.

In SimCity 4, I encountered a bug where only half of the city dump would appear filled, and I could de-zone and re-zone the empty squares to "delete" garbage as it rolled in. This happened to its neighbor city as well. I like to think my savefiles are blessed. :feels:
Ah, even better when they're beneficial. Once when I was playing one of the .hack games on ps2, I loaded the file to discover I suddenly had max counts of all the items I had in storage, along with greeting cards, limited items you could send to get extra dialogue and affection with party members. This included a one per playthrough marriage card that unlocked a bunch of joke endings, and I now had 99 of.

Funny thing is, I had an action replay, but I never used it with those games at that point. I typically used it on second playthroughs, particularly to access dummied out or inaccessible content, or to generally do things outside of what you could legitimately accomplish in-game.

I remember having a copy of Vice City Stories on PS2 that would load indefinitely. Wouldn't even boot up past the title screen.

Looking for it on youtube I found a video showing that happening.

Was playing SOMA, just outside the last area there's a big fish that'll grab you, chew on you a bit, and eventually drop you. He never dropped me, just kept swimming around in circles with me in his mouth. I waited 5 minutes before reloading my save.

My friend had a copy of Final Fantasy 7 where all 4 disks were scratched up a bit. The game would freeze at certain points and the PlayStation would sound like the laser was skipping. To fix it you had to put in a random disk and the game would either unfreeze and continue or would start you at another random place in the story. It might freeze on disk 1 and unfreeze when you put disk 3 in and you'd continue somewhere in disk 3's story, or it might just unfreeze and continue where you were with disk 3 in the console until it froze again.

I asked my friend if I could borrow it a couple months later and he warned me about his copy being fucked up and that it probably wouldn't be a good gameplay experience since I had never played the game. I said I just wanted to play it and didn't care, he'd shown me how it was fucked up when he was playing it so I thought it wouldn't be a big deal.

Basically the first time I played Final Fantasy 7 I experienced the story in an extremely non-linear fashion. I only replayed FF7 one other time and to this day I can remember almost none of the game's story past the very beginning, what I can recall has the quality of context-free dream fragments.

Theres a joke around my friends that I can fall through the terrain on any game that exists. It began when i tried to run Wrath of the Lich King on a crappy laptop and the floor didnt render in Trial of the Crusader so i fell through and ended up in the final boss room. Fell thru Siege of Orgrimmar and landed on box under instance when i used killing spree once and was life gripped up.

Fell through onto another box in Warlords raid:

My ability to defy terrian is not limited to World of Warcraft, fell half way through the world in Life is Strange as well and ended up having to reset the game since it corrupted my save:

Huge fan of glitches in games and both encountering them and reading about them.

Never looked up what triggers it but I got the Galaxy Droid in one of my numerous KOTOR playthroughs on the xbox

Random video of it -
